“Gimmie Shelter” and “Sympathy for the Devil” are both great selections but they are very similar stylistically. The Stones have a huge catalog so think about something like “Sticky Fingers” or later like “Beast of Burden”. This is a perfect song for you, thou. Nice comments.

I've always heard this as someone who lost their most beloved, and they have to stay here and not be with them. And while in the deepest despair, seeing anyone having a happy moment makes you irrationality angry. The line of black cars and flowers as a line of the funeral in my mind, longing to see their face, but left with noting.
I'm probably way off, but that's what it's always meant to me.

I'm so sorry that someone so beautiful feels so dark! You have so much energy and insight! I just wish there was something I could do to let you know how much you are loved!!!

I know this song is about grief. But few songs describe it better how it is to live with a depression (which I guess is a kind of grief).
I've lived with depressions basically since my birth. Now since a few years passed 40, I have not much going for me. Fast girls, fast food and fast life.
At least its somewhat stable in its color.
UA-cam has this way of reminding me of what I'm missing in life. But also reminding me of who I am.
Awesome reaction, awesome band. You are awesome ❤🤙

This song is so good! I never listened much to them before but when I saw the TV-series Tour of Duty (Vietnam, great series) a long time ago this was the theme song for it and I fell in love with it right away

My ultimate Stones favourite, as others suggested, is "Sympathy for the Devil ".
My money even read the book (The Master and Margarita) that song is based on!

The early 70s was a tumultuous, confusing times and the popular music of the time reflected it. The Beatles sang uplifting songs about infatuation and young love and the Stones often drifted to a darker side. Mix it all together and you had some therapeutic music that worked pretty well, even today. Long Live Rock and Roll!!!!

You start with the very best song they ever did?! Wow!
Nothing can beat Paint it Black imo but try out Sympathy for the Devil, Angie, Jumping Jack Flash, Satisfaction, Lady Jane...

This song captures the combination of grief and rage at the loss of a loved one so well.

There is no shortage of great Stones tunes. One of the more forgotten ones that I love is "Time is on My Side".

First gig I went to was the stones '95 lick tour at wembley I was 9. I still remember it, there's so many songs for you to get through. Gimme shelter is one of my personal favourites. The female vocals on it by Merry are stunning
