A sound heard in forests, fields and avenues around the world throughout much of the 18th and 19th century. Just as we have our headphones and radio to make long walks, runs or drives bearable, our musket wielding ancestors would listen to drums, fifes, and trumpets to get them through a march.

When I was child, we lived the country. Each and every night, I would hear a drum beating. It became a norm for me. We moved out of the country when I was around 9yrs old. I'll never forget the first night in our new home.. No drum sound.
Many years later, I learned that the Confederate army marched through that area going to the Battle of Pea Ridge. The drum I heard was the marching beat.
No one else in my family or friends that stayed over night ever heard the drum. I'm now 67 yrs old and will never forget the drum of march

That's all I did for base drum when we had AMI. I'm in ROTC so I probably don't know as much as you but that's all I did. I did that for about 10 or maybe 15 minutes while the rest of the Company and the Color Guard were literally marching around in a rectangle. Snare isn't that hard when you get the hang of it too. Really, this drum cadence is for marching around in circles anyway.

Yes, It is cool. The original is a bit harder. This is the modified/simple version created at Ft. Monroe in 1989

POV: it's 4AM, your unit is marching out of their barrack and towards the battlefield 10km in the north.

I won't lie...I am no soldier by its normal definition. However..... I am a soldier in the since that I fight my own war. "What war is that?" You probably ask yourself and I'll tell you. It's a war to see if the next morning I wake up, it's a war to see if I can even see what's in front of me, it's a war to see how many people are going to judge me, and it a war to show every single minded bastard that even though I am half blind, look like I was burned alive on one side of my face, have a sense of honesty blunter then a hammer, have a sense of LOYALTY greater than a dog, that even though I'm thick skulled beyond belief, that even though I don't get sarcasm I can not only live, not only survive, but god dam THRIVE on my own! I may be handy caped but that doesn't mean I can't fight like the rest of them. I'm not a soldier by the normal definition but I'm a soldier by my own definition, and if you have a problem with it, join the other thousands of millions of people who stare at me like I'm a freak but if you don't. Your welcomed to fight this war with me.

As Winston Churchill once said, "We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight on the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills, we shall never surrender."
No matter who or what you are fighting, and no matter where or when, you will never give up.

Pineappleator exactly. Never surrender until you can't fight no more....until then.. Fight. Fight like mad dogs fighting for their lives. Because that is what I do every day and that is how we all must. Never go soft, never give up, and never end the fight until you can't fight anymore.
