It’s instant mpg. You probably only saw over 100 mpg when you were coasting. It supports injector cutoff on deceleration. If this is activated you’ll see 999 mpgs.

@@MyFutt Yea Ive started to figure out how it works, you just have to keep a really steady foot on the gas to get a accurate reading. I actually prefer the Instant over the average because for some reason the average is way off. No way im getting 26 mpg in a 5vz-fe Tacoma with no headers or an exhaust. Even then like 22-23 would be about it. Ive reset the average and toggled between inst/avg, and the instant will read like 20-21, and at the same time the average will read 27. Its weird.

@@JonahLyman1776 Look into the calibration section in the manual. It will never be perfect but I’ve seen mine up to 13% off. You can get it somewhat close and then just use it as a baseline. I also swapped out the average mpg to the short trip mpg. It only tracks your mpg since you started the vehicle. It’s like a game. lol. “How high can I get my mpg driving to work.”

@@MyFutt Interesting I’ll have to give that a try. Ive calibrated my speedo since I have bigger tires than stock on my pickup and I assumed it would auto calibrate all the other stuff. My scanner said I had 12.4 gallons out of a 18 gallon tank left. And the pump said I put about 6.1 gallons in. So it was about half a gallon off over that time span.

@@JonahLyman1776 Yup! Calibration of the speedo is super important too. Unfortunately it doesn’t auto calibrate anything.
So it sounds like the ultra gauge said you used 5.6 gallons but you actually used 6.1. That’s about 15% off. The ultra gauge is just taking the amount of air coming in from the maf sensor and estimating the amount of fuel needed for that amount of air. Under perfect conditions that would work but unfortunately there are errors in the sensors and ethanol gas blends differ. Fuel trims are always changing…There are tons of variables.
I’ve seen it guess my fuel consumption within a .25 gallon on a 20 gallon fill up. I would add 10% in and try again.
