The brothers have said that it took a few years to return to a comfort level with each other, but they were determined to make it up. Also, Robin has said they parted as boys and reconciled as men with more respect for each other.

these guys had great hits way before disco, during disco, post disco, such great songwriters, such brother harmony, for a very long time. truly an iconic act
It breaks my heart when Barry sings "How Can A Loser Ever Win" all these years later. They liked to write so that all of us could form our own interpretation.
With the Bee Gees the hits just keep on coming! This is beautiful poetry set to music. The Bee Gees had so many great songs that there is no way to have just one as a favorite.
FYI. There is a video, where Barry is preforming for the first time by himself, after Robin and Maurice have passed away. This was the first song in his performance, and about 20 seconds into the singing, he started to choke up, and could hardly sing. The part where Maurice and Robin would join in singing, was where he really had a tough time singing. The audience joined in and picked up the song, while he composed himself, with tears in his eyes. I think most of the audience also had tears in their eyes.
These brothers did not record one bad song. When you both have time, listen and watch together their '97 Las Vegas concert.I'm not asking for a reaction video of that,as that would take too long, but what a concert! Thank you ladies!
Your Mom was right about the Bee Gees breakup and then getting back together. The disagreement that led to the Bee Gees breakup had to do who would be the lead singer more. Robin had been doing lead for the most part but Barry wanted to lead more. So the final straw was that Robin was the Lead on one song and Barry was the Lead Singer on one. Both Robin and Barry wanted their song on the A side of the Record. The A side of a Record usually was considered the Hit Side and the B side was not played as often, The Producer chose Barry's song and so Robin left. Maurice tried to get his brothers back together. Robin would talk to Maurice to get Barry a message and Barry sent a message through Maurice. Maurice was the Man in the Middle. He later wrote a song with that Title. Barry and Robin agreed to meet at Barry's House along with Maurice, Barry's house had a Music studio and they started singing and wrote How Can You Mend A Broken Heart. Robin agreed that Barry should be the lead singer more. In the song Robin started as the lead and then passed the lead to Barry. Robin would still get to lead some but the transition was complete.
Wow that’s very interesting and a good thing to know! I can see how that would cause a riff between the brothers and poor Maurice being stuck in the middle. Robin really did have a wonderful voice and it might be my favorite between the two. But of course Barry’s head voice is iconic and amazing
What's even more beautiful than this song is the beautiful Mother/Daughter relationship the two of you share. Music has a way of bridging gaps and also healing hearts. I know both of you cherish spending this time in life together......and sharing it with us.
Maybe you'd like to see that song played and sung live. Many times, it was on their concertlist. But also, Barry Gibb sang it together with Olivia Newton-John in 2009, bushfire-help-concert in Australia. To find on YT.
Barry had this song already almost completed when Robin came to his house and said he wanted to come back, so Barry asked him if he wanted to help him complete it. He also offered to let Robin sing the first verse. So whatever inspired this song, it came from Barry.
My Mother played this on piano when I was little. When I asked her about the song she said she learned to play it after my Dad was killed by a drunk teenager driving. It haunts me, pleasantly to this day. I still, like your Mom , know all the words to all their beautiful music. Saw Barry in a special recently. Looks good.

This is a song that brings back a lot of heartache and memories. My girlfriend/fiance was raised as Seventh Day adventist. Her minister father had decided it was best for her and the church to return to her 1 year old daughters father as an attempt to rekindle their fsiled marriage. I found out as they were beginning to drive off from our house. I was very upset and decided to drive to my parents house, about an hour away. Every radio station was playing the most popular song of the day, the Bee Gee's "How do you mend a broken heart". What a long and tortuous drive that was. It ended up she was pregnant and never told me. I finally met my daughter years ago and we get along great. She never felt close to the person whom she was told was her dad. Somethings were just meant to be.
Such an easy listening song. Love it. Later I think they picked up the pace a little. I watched a TV concert on A&E with the Bee Gees which was the last concert they did it was 2001. Maurice does a lead on this concert.

Greetings my friend!!....You are the right person to make this amazing reaction video and give us your opinion about this incredible singer...In 2017, the music world was shocked by the bursting onto the scene of a 22-year-old singer named Dimash Kudaibergen, who performed on the famous Chinese competition show for professional singers called “The Singer”... It was just it was necessary for this young man to make his first appearance, making a cover of one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse", to be considered from that moment on as the best singer in the entire planet....No one in the musical field had ever seen a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges above 7 octaves and several semitones, that is, all 88 keys of a digital piano, which reaches a little more than 7 octaves and as if that weren't enough, sing the more than 12 languages...Since then all kinds of experts (Vocal coachs, singers, musicians, analysts, singing teachers, youtubers, reactors, etc.) have dedicated themselves to reviewing their presentations to try to understand how someone can sing this way...The incredible thing is that that presentation in China was in 2017 but what Dimash has done in these 5 years is to further improve his wide vocal range, which is currently practically above of the 8 octaves... The Covid pandemic stopped his concerts worldwide, all with tickets sold in just seconds, via the internet, but at the same time it ended up catapulting him to the top of popularity worldwide...Anyway, since I think you are one of those reactors who have not yet met this impressive singer, here is the link of that presentation in China in 2017, with the song S.O.S. and I would like you to mention my name as the person who recommended him to you...You have to be prepared because your channel will explode with an avalanche of views, comments and new subscribers....I leave you one more recent video than the others, so it does not have the same number of views as the previous ones, which have millions of views, but it is a more complete video, with an intro, subtitles in several languages and with the improved quality of audio and sound....ua-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/v-deo.html
I'm 64 soon to be 65 and when I was 10 years old I had a transistor radio and when I heard the song "I started a Joke" I was hooked on the band. So many years later and it's sad that Barry is the only alive now! love this song as well, And I always get teary eyed. Nice that I found your channel, Bless both of you!
Thank you Bill! I absolutely loved this song. It is very sad that I’m finally appreciating these songs and they are no longer with us, except Barry. They are so special
The Bee Gees have a song that they wrote and sang in 1972 of course that was in a low period between the 60s and before the Disco era but this is a nice sweet little song it's kind of different than most of their other songs it's kind of a little bit of a love song but more of a Coming of Age song I think but that's one that you might like to and like I said it's a little different from their other songs it's kind of a soft pause in between the 60s and the mid-70s when they really start cranking out tons of disco and other great music. Oh I guess I forgot to actually put the name of the song in here I don't see it okay the name of that song is called run to me Real Simple Song.
I had forgotten that they broke up and I never associated this song with their breakup. They had so much success that they probably just needed a break. Breaking up with a band is one thing.... but breaking up with your brothers is something completely different.
I was in high school when this came out. I remember playing it over and over because it had a huge effect on me and the things I was going through at the time.
I played this song over and over when my dog passed away suddenly because my heart was totally shattered. It’s still brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it because it brings back memories of her 😢😢 R.I.P my sweet little girl Izzy 🐾🌈 I miss you every day😢😢
This as with most of their music was so wonderful. I know they had music that was never released and that saddens my heart. Thank you ladies for your reaction. What is so terrible is they will never have anymore new music for us to hear and fall in love with. Thanks to these super talented brothers that I love more today than last month. God bless you. Deme in Bama.😊
I remember when this came out. My boyfriend and I had just broken up and I played it over and over while crying the whole time. So many great memories with the Bee Gees. Watch Run to me, another older one
I have to go with Mother on her song selection. Awesome! 👍 But to you daughter... your perception of lyricsand meaning is unbelievable!!! 👌 You two are absolutely awesome together. Thank you for the reminiscence ❤🤗
"My greatest regret is that every brother I’ve lost was in a moment when we weren’t getting on, so I have to live with that and I’ll spend the rest of my life reflecting on that. I’m the last man standing. I’ll never be able to understand that as I’m the eldest." -Barry Gibb

hi , im a super bee gees fans for the last 45 years.....i would like recomended you my favourite song from them, is an athem...not very famous because that record was banned by radio stations , the name of the song is "livingeyes" i hope you like it
Just for kicks: The Bee Gees never even thought or knew what Disco was - they just made songs people could dance to on since those songs were for "Saturday Night Fever". They sadly said people made them miserable assuming they started disco - The say they didn't. I agree - they had to make dance songs for that movie.
It's a lovely reaction to a wonderful track.....would you please react to one of their lesser known tracks ...(.though no less powerful)....from Cucumber Castle called sweetheart....it's a beautiful track covered by many great artists...Englert Humperdinck among others....thanks so much...
I would recommend doing Run To Me. It’s a beautiful one also. How Cab You Mend a Broken Heart makes me cry since the doc about them where Barry talks about losing his brothers. I’m so glad I got to see them perform in the 70s. They were so amazing!
Listen to I Started A Joke - it features Robin, who was one of the finest voices of his generation. The Bee Gees - just the words invoke excellence in all aspects of music.
They wrote this one after they got back together and said it really represented how they all felt during the breakup. Beautiful song! Barry lead, and also Robin lead, and Mo is the harmony genius!! If you get a chance, watch their newest documentary called How Can you Mend a Broken Heart, it is the story of their rise to super star fame, then the disco crash that some DJ's brought against them and how it broke their hearts. Yep, they started singing "organically" (as Robin said) in 3-part harmony at 5 and 8 y/o in their bedroom and their mother heard them, and the rest is history!! That was in 1955 in Manchester England. They called themselves the Rattlesnakes and Wee Johnny Hayes and the Blue Cats, then they moved to Australia and changed to BG's, then Bee Gees, then they went back to England in 1967. Also try One, and again, anything from the Still Waters album!!

The Covid pandemic stopped his concerts worldwide, all with tickets sold in just seconds, via the internet, but at the same time it ended up catapulting him to the top of popularity worldwide...Anyway, since I think you are one of those reactors who have not yet met this impressive singer, here is the link of that presentation in China in 2017, with the song S.O.S. and I would like you to mention my name as the person who recommended him to you...You have to be prepared because your channel will explode with an avalanche of views, comments and new subscribers....I leave you one more recent video than the others, so it does not have the same number of views as the previous ones, which have millions of views, but it is a more complete video, with an intro, subtitles in several languages and with the improved quality of audio and sound....ua-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/v-deo.html
the meaning of these lyrics must feel amplified to Barry now he,s the last one still living
@@generationgapreacts You're very welcome Happy that you are appreciating songs from when I grew up. They are legends!
YES! This is ....the BeeGees I know. Forget all the disco stuff. Give me early BeeGees.
Soul singing Al Green covered this song and somehow to it to even another level. Check it out.
Yes we absolutely will!
@@generationgapreacts Al Green's version accentuates a wonderful scene in a great movie, "Notting Hill."
"The lyrics are so beautiful." You nailed it!
It was their first song after their breakup Robyn and Barry started writing it then Maurice joined in and they finished it together
I'm from that time. The song sounds just as good today as it did then.
Great observation by mom at 5.30 minutes.
Pre disco Bee Gees..please try " I started a joke"...written and sung lead by Robin......a truly epic song.
It’s still brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it because it brings back memories of her 😢😢 R.I.P my sweet little girl Izzy 🐾🌈 I miss you every day😢😢
Aww so sorry Colin. RIP Izzy!
@@generationgapreacts bless you 🙏❤️
This as with most of their music was so wonderful. I know they had music that was never released and that saddens my heart. Thank you ladies for your reaction. What is so terrible is they will never have anymore new music for us to hear and fall in love with. Thanks to these super talented brothers that I love more today than last month. God bless you. Deme in Bama.😊
barbara steinstrand stranger and barry gibb what kind of full
amazing suggestions! I’m not sure I’ve heard those so they would be great!
I remember when this came out. My boyfriend and I had just broken up and I played it over and over while crying the whole time. So many great memories with the Bee Gees. Watch Run to me, another older one
Music holds a lot of memories to it
I have to go with Mother on her song selection. Awesome! 👍
But to you daughter... your perception of lyricsand meaning is unbelievable!!! 👌
You two are absolutely awesome together.
Thank you for the reminiscence ❤🤗
"My greatest regret is that every brother I’ve lost was in a moment when we weren’t getting on, so I have to live with that and I’ll spend the rest of my life reflecting on that.
I’m the last man standing. I’ll never be able to understand that as I’m the eldest."
-Barry Gibb

We'd love to check it out!
Mom is about my age but has some very great insights to these songs. Very well thought about and well said.
Love The Bee Gees reactions, how about the greatest all time The Beatles
Oh, just found this one.
This is one of our favorite Bee Gees songs.
You need to see the original video performance.
I love Mom's introductions to the artists. She does some research and it gives the performances more meaning.
I loved the Bee Gees & grew up with them in Australia.
I’m so happy that Barry married a strong woman to help him through losing all his brothers.
You should also watch documentary of them when they’re younger and react to it
sorry but i can't stop laughing at the closed captions!!
Yes it didn’t pick up the singing lyrics very well 😆
Just for kicks: The Bee Gees never even thought or knew what Disco was - they just made songs people could dance to on since those songs were for "Saturday Night Fever".
Thank you :) Sweetheart would be a great one! If I'm not mistaken, that's one of my moms pick for a video coming up.
Love your channel just subscribed
Thank you Kevin!
I left a bunch of requests lol
I would recommend doing Run To Me. It’s a beautiful one also. How Cab You Mend a Broken Heart makes me cry since the doc about them where Barry talks about losing his brothers. I’m so glad I got to see them perform in the 70s. They were so amazing!
It is Robin and one of my fav songs from them..
Amazing information Debbie! We are learning so much about them through these fantastic comments. They were born superstars! 'One' is on our list of videos coming soon and more that you have mentioned
From the Bee Gees album titled Trafalgar, 1971
There are more groups in that era that you might seek out to listen. America comes to mind.
I hope you react to the Bee Gees singing with Celine Dion IMORTALITY a song that was written for her by the boys it is as is all their songs pure poetry and is one of my favourites .
I think some of their best music was pre disco.
