Pocket Fantasy RPG is a complete role-playing game for a fun night of hacking and slashing. Using only one d6, Pocket Fantasy RPG was created for those times when someone cancels on gamenight and the rest of the group is wondering what to do. It was also created with new or young players in mind. Easy and straight forward rules that let you get playing in no time. No deep character generation or clunky combat rules to bog down the gameplay. Using the d6 task rule, nothing is impossible with this little game. Many levels of dungeon exploration can occur in a single night of fast action Pocket Fantasy RPG!

Ok, this doesn't have a lot to do with the game, but I am running it solo and found this funny. I used an online mission generator. I found a merchant woman who needed help. I randomly rolled what item she is a merchant of and it was Barrels. She is a cooper, apparently. The problem was another town needed help, rolled a race and it was dwarves, and here is the funniest part. The name of the town is Bierberg. Literally that is the German word for "Beer Mountain". I have to help cooper get the trade going again because she sells dwarven beer from a mountain village of dwarves who make and sell beer.
So, a noble cause indeed.
And I got lucky and the main enemies are the Kobolds on the Pocket Fantasy monster list, the weakest enemy from that list. So at least I'm not in over my head.

Looking at Pocket Fantasy 3.6. I'm going to give this a try soon along with Simply6. I started soloing with So1um expanded edition (a universal system) which is also free & very good. Very cool that you offer this for free! Skimming through, it looks solid & the Generators look very useful.

This system sounds great, and sounds very hack-able. However, I am no system hacker, so, I ask the group: how hard would it be to hack this into a "Pocket Supers" game? "Free-Form Magic" sounds like a good system for super powers to me.... Thanks again, and this channel is awesome!
Thanks for watching and the kind words! I think it’s very possible it could work with supers. The Pocket Master would just need to really nail down what the super’s powers are like and go from there. Maybe increase the amount of session uses of the “supers free form magic” to something more frequent.

Excellent little product you made there, Brandon. Honestly, I think it's more remarkable to create a small (even minimalist) rules system that still feels complete than making that big, sprawling nitty-gritty heartbreaker. :)

There really needs to be an expansion for this. Like adding new abilities to the existing classes, multiclassing, and new spells. Another little booklet designed specifically for upgrading characters called the Pocketnomicon. I understand this is being as minimal as possible, but people like to improve characters outside of just magic items, it would be nice for players to spend XP. I have purchased everything I can for this system from everything possible on DTRPG to quest givers and I feel all that is missing is another little booklet for upgrading lol Do you have this as an open game license for people to create and put on places like DTRPG?

So I've had a chance to play the game using solo RPG techniques, and it works really well for that. Trust me, it is so much more fun to look up stuff on just 4 pages than it is to do the same in another RPG that can be 150 pages or more in length. This is because I am playing the RPG just on my cell phone using a dice roller app, a copy of the 4 pages rules, as well as the magic item list and extra class compendium.
At first I was upset that the gear for the starting character is given with no prices....or so I thought. I was just stupid and missed the small paragraph at the end of the dungeon bit that lists a handful of lines for the prices for mundane, normal, rare, magical arcane stones loose and when fitted to gear. My bad.
My only complaint I could have to give is minor, but I'll share. I wish the lists of 42 enemies would have a number on each line. Then I could turn it into an add hoc random table. Or slightly better would be a 1-100 scale with rare enemies like bosses just getting a 1% chance, while common enemy types like bandits getting 5%-10% chance. Ditto for the magic weapons and gear list (separate PDF).

@@RPGOverviews The NPC bad guy list is 42 entries long. I might just hand write some numbers of 1-5 first digits, and then 1-6. Then roll a D6 twice to get a 2 digit number, re-rolling the first die if you get a 6. So, if you roll a 1 and a 4, then you have monster #14 on the list, the "Fishman".

Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it. The truth is I’ve been stagnant with my work but I’ve begun writing again. I’m devoting lots of time to Pocket Fantasy RPG and returned to work on the other Pocket games I’d like to make, which are each in various stages. Since the supernatural horror version has been asked about mostly I will see about giving it more priority than the other off shoot games. I’m very much a creature of interaction. I work best and most when people discuss the games with me, ask me questions or respond to feedback. Thanks for asking and I apologize on the delay in information.

I may also say I may adapt this simple rules game to done one of the two classic game conversions. There is a law of the universe that states that all RPG games shall be converted to Star Wars, or Call of Cthulhu. In my case, I want to make a Star Wars style universe with these rules. Not actual Star Wars, but something similar with a few changes to suit my own tastes, and to avoid copyright infringement. I.E. Space Knights, not Jedi

Thanks! I think an Oriental Setting could work. The class compendium has a martial artist and with some minor descriptive changes to other classes it would be feasible.
@@RPGOverviews I might do some fixes with the Fighter like make it to a Bushi or Samurai. Ninja may be a little different so is a Kensai.

@@RPGOverviews All your rules are clear and easy to follow. I just have one doubt. The magic items give you the chance to avoid rolling a dice and get a direct 6. How about the regular equipment ?? how they work ?? they give you +1 attack/defense ?? I don't see how it works in the rules and it's not clear to me.

I'm very new to Rpgs, I found the Pocket Fantasy rpg very recently from a few different videos. I might do a video myself once I start getting into it.
The version I saw, that intrigued me was the version you fold up in a little book. I make zines and mini comics so that version appealed to me.
I didn't know until now that the original format was this version you're talking about in the video.
That's the one I downloaded and was confused until I watched this video and a different video.
Are both versions the same except that one is more cards based and the other is a tiny book?
Which do you recommend to get started with?

The dice are from Flying Buffalo and are called Adventure Dice but I’m afraid they are out of print and could be challenging to find.
The dungeon cards were from a Kickstarter and unfortunately are not available for sale.

The PDFs are all out of wack even when you click to fit page it still cuts some of the words or drawings.

H D mostly everything is in landscape format could it be possible you have it set to portrait?
@@RPGOverviews the location cards. I had them in landscape. Could be something I'm doing but even when I hit fit to page it stills cuts them off. I'm not complaining love the game just thought you should know just incase it wasn't me messing up. I just shank them down to 93%.
