Your videos are super helpful! I’d love to know your aperture for the group shots and typically what sort of shutter speed you use for these photos? Thank you!

Hey Jodi! In studio I typically stick around 2.5 for my aperture and my shutter speed is a minimum of 250 at all times.

Great video, thank you so much for sharing! How do you decide if you are going to do the family pictures first vs. posed pictures of just the baby? Do you always start with the baby by themselves first?

Thanks for watching! So typically I photograph baby when they first arrive since they are sleepy and fully fed. Also during that time mom and dad are getting dressed with the client wardrobe, so i take the opportunity to knock out baby photos.
In the instance where siblings are involved I will allow big brother/sister to play for a bit and get used to the space before they have to be in photos.
If baby wakes up during portraits (which happens often) I will still take the awake photos and then at the end of the session if they have fallen back asleep I will do a few more individual portraits while mom and dad are getting dressed in their clothes before they leave.
      hope that helps!

@@HelloJudePhotography Thank you for your response! Do you tell mom to feed baby before they leave the house or when they arrive at your studio? What if baby has reflux-I have had parents in the past who were afraid to feed baby right before the session because they didn't want the baby to spit up everywhere.
I love your videos-they have been so helpful to me & I'm thankful for you sharing your wisdom with us!

@@hayleybobayley13 Great questions! I tell parents to try to time feedings so that when they arrive baby is fed and drowsy. That doesn't always happen and that is okay. If baby needs to eat at any point during the session we pause and feed.
For babies that are notorious spitter uppers, I try not to lay them down immediately (I'll pose with parents and allow baby to be propped up for a little while before laying them down again)
