See? I am not the only one who has really missed the old "pre-nonstop Disney" Adam the Woo....it is where you shine my friend. It gets really old and boring watching someone else ride a roller coaster ....but this kind of thing makes my heart happy, and no one does it quite like Woo (lol)
12:30 I'm a bricklayer in the UK and we call those "Castle corners" But we do ours 3 bricks on top of each other for the height and 1 and a half wide stepping in to 1 full brick. Great video Adam, I love seeing the old buildings and especially the brickwork over there. Cheers.
I used to live here before moving to Southern California recently. Small town Florida has a rustic, quaint charm. The damage was from Hurricane Michael btw. It practically wiped out Panama City and Mexico Beach. Category 5 hurricane.
This is Adam The Woo at his finest. Travelogues, insightful commentary presented in a laid back style, and beautfully illustrating Americana. Showing us what America was with respect and what it is with dignity. I applaud you, sir.
Glad to see you back to form! The theme park videos are fun, but stuff like this is why I subscribed to you over 5 years ago! Can’t wait for the rest of the journey!
"The storm" you mentioned that damaged all the trees was the Cat 5 Hurricane Michael 10/10/2018 that wiped everything off the map from Mexico Beach, FL toward Macon, GA. It was still a Cat 3 in Macon. Spread the word.... we still need help.
I went to that dam back in 1982 when I was around 9 years old with my parents to visit my aunts new husbands fishing cabin. I remember hearing the adults talking and they were saying that scuba divers that have to inspect that dam have reported giant catfish at and or around the base of the dam, with the water fall turned off of course. They also said that many divers did quit and refused to ever scuba dive near that dam. They said that the catfish were as big as a man and some were even bigger. I remember it was hot and I did want to go swimming but after hearing the adults tell their tell of giant fish I quickly changed my mind and just fished and stayed hot...God Bless you Adam and stay safe!
@dsantos10 Turning on the old rusty faucet to see if it worked was definitely the cherry on top of this episode. That was something he always would do in his old videos.
early 90's I saw Bo Diddley at a dive bar around Tallahassee. He lived not too far away. He played for about 1.5 hours with some local dudes and it was awesome!!
Well Tallahassee is turning into college city after all these years...Gaines street doesn't look anything like it did in the 90's and as soon as I get my ducks in a row I'm leaving the city..getting too crowded for my liking.
Noticed that the dude who posted this video (daily woo) did not know who the legendary Rock & Roll Originator and King, Bo Diddley was, either did he care to read what was written on his tombstone!
I was born and raised in Tallahassee many moons ago, left for parts unknown in 2000, went west to AZ, then to CA, north to WA, and finally ended up on Cape Cod. Got to go back down south one of these days. Don't think I'd want to live in Tally again.

12:53 - My third great-grandmother Louisa Colding died at For Fanning March 19, 1865. 16:50 -- Perry, Fla. ... January, 1971 ... I was hitchhiking from Ft. Lauderdale to Tulsa, Oklahoma ... got a ride somewhere in Northern Florida from a couple black guys ... outside of Perry, we get pulled over ... the paperwork on their car was not in order and I was a long hair ... we had to proceed to the station ... a lot of "boy" from the cops ... the guys didn't have money for bail so I paid it ... $35, which is most of what I had then ... they said they lived just north of Tallahasse and they'd pay me back when we got there ... arrived well after dark ... they didn't have any money there either ... I'm back out on the road ... segregated Florida ... dark ... January cold ... get a ride back into Tallahassee from a guy who said he was going to be gone for the night but I could stay at his house ... must have been an angel ... walked 50 yards to the road in the morning, stuck my thumb out, caught a ride from a vet back from Vietnam ... lot of info about the May 1970 Cambodia invasion ... he was going all the way to Temple, Texas ... on his father-in-law's credit card ... stayed in nice hotels and ate well in New Orleans and Austin. My $35 good deed was repayed several times over. That's what I think about whenever I hear "Perry, Florida."
Good on ya Jon. It sounds like you experienced many adventures in your life. Many people resorted to hitchhiking back in the day. Interstates and Eileen Wuernos put an end to that in Florida. When I think of Perry Florida I think of that stinking pulp mill just south on Hwy 27. 😷😳😝
The dozen and dozens of little piles of sand are not gophers. We cant figure out what they are. We just moved here, and all I can say is the gopher holes make HOLES. These are just weird piles of sand. There also NOT the zillions if ants, nor are they turtle holes. Reason why? No hole is left behind! Its driving me crazy. Do you have another idea what they could be?
Camaro 1968 yes they do! They are called pocket gophers. They build many tunnels and will leave that many piles. It’s quite interesting. People around here hate them and will kill them. It’s sad :( I let them make their holes in my yard I don’t mind. They don’t bother me none.
@BSquared I was thinking moles/voles, but not sure because their "piles" are usually in a "line". I thought armadillos and gophers made holes *IN* the ground and not the little "piles" ya see there. That is the only reason I thought moles/voles because *NO* holes.... LOL
It's really great that you are recording and preserving video scenes that would otherwise be lost and forgotten by future generations except for your vlogs. Thank You!

I love going through the small town, it’s time forgot and imagine what it was like when it was first full of people and and how this community when it first started, and oh the story they could tell!!! This is the real America 🇺🇸🇺🇸
So many interesting little dead towns around the South. There were a couple buildings that I would restore into homes. Nice Vid. The Bo Diddley headstone looked so lonely. Imagine living in a town where the Highway hardly ever gets traveled any more. Would love to have seen the before and after of these towns. Americana old school at it's best.
Beautiful sunrise! And talk about unwinding... this was so relaxing. Not just the calm in your voice but hearing the wind, birds chirping, the crunch of twigs under your feet and the closing shot of our flag rippling in the wind. Sheer bliss. More please!
Wow! The Dam in your video is the Jackson Bluff Dam built in 1927 constructed on the Ochlockonee River to produce hydro power, waters held back by the dam formed Lake Talquin. Great catch! it’s been over 30 years since the last time I was there.
A lot of these old buildings are like me , 😳old don’t trust a car salesman with a pink elephant. I thoroughly enjoy watching your side road trips they bring back a time that is long gone thank you very much for sharing
Hi Adam, my dad is a huge fan of yours! He lives in Blountstown and was so thrilled to see that you came through our town. Hurricane Michael really took a toll on the whole area.
Thanks Adam...Wow day 1, the journey begins. Loved it. Looking forward to the coming days ahead as you trek through the south. THESE are my favorite vlogs. Your demeanor and laid back approach while recording is just perfect.
I love your back roads journey. My dad would do that when we were young. I loved it. Fascinating little museums and old Americana. Much of what you are seeing is familiar to me. Thank you for posting these!
Florida is more rural small towns that tourist areas, so I believe you're right. I did transportation planning for many of the rural areas and was shocked too see just how rural it was as a state when I moved there over 25yrs ago out of college. Some real hidden gems, along with some little infamous ones too.
Awsome video. My wife and I love all of your videos cause you do such great history about the topic etc. You have such a unique way of telling us about your videos. Great work 👏👏👍😎👊
All of those bent and broken trees (toward the end of your video) is from Hurricane Michael that hit Panama City and especially Mexico Beach in 2018. The destruction of the hurricane hit inland for many miles! Much of Mexico Beach is still a wasteland - waiting to be rebuilt! Another great video Mr Woo!!!!
Quintessential Vintage Woo!. SUPERB camera work, composition and patience allowing viewer ample time to soak in objects, signs and general ambiance. Masterful.
Man Adam we are loving this old school original video you use to make. Great video buddy. ❤️👍 keep it coming. We are watching and enjoying every moment. 🇺🇸 real America at its best.
That "storm" you referred to was Hurricane Michael, the most recent and only a few of the Cat 5 hurricanes to ever make landfall on the US. I'm in Panama City and we are still recovering with many homes still uninhabitable and areas of complete devistation (since October 2018). Enjoying your Americana road trip. These trips are what got me hooked on the Woo to start with. Godspeed!

I have lived all over Florida in my life and have been to most of the places in your video. Great job. I really like your style and your eye for interesting things to film. Thank you.
@@billl1127 I remember a few years back, a story about a small Fla town that was able to annex a mile of highway and it was the sole revenue for the town. The second you crossed into the town, chances are you'd be ticketed. People took turns in being deputized so they could get a piece of the side of the road bribery action. Also took turns in being mayor for the same reason. The mayor at the time was a felon, crack addict.
Ahh! Vintage ATW! This takes us back to the wonderful days of The Daily Woo. Haven't been online for a few days, and was delighted to see these! Now I get to binge-watch the first four days. Thanks, Adam!
Thank you for sharing your adventure! Makes me sad to see all of those forgotten Souls(the buildings). Wish you the best on all of your travels! Thank you, Cory
Thank you so much for that wonderful guided tour of ghost places. I loved every second. I'm in the UK and it's so difficult to find abandoned places. There are some great places in Wales. Ex mining town that are abandoned.
Good evening sir. I too grew up close to Orlando in the same time period. Do you, by chance know if you have any relatives that still reside in Central Florida or in the Panhandle? My name is Greg Chandler and I had relatives who lived between Orlando and Tampa. Feel free to respond back if you want to explore this further.
Adam, awesome and beautiful small towns and backroads! Started to watch today's video but, since I missed this one I thought I'd watch it first. Love your videos like these! Really enjoyed it too
Fascinating & Beautiful Video! I was born in California, but left when I was 3. Florida is truly my home. Thank you for the places I've never seen. Bo Diddley's grave was a great surprise!
These places have the same sad nostalgic feeling as the malls in Dan Bell's series. It's eerie and almost tragic to see something meant to be busy so dead
Sorry , missed you in Florida. Born and raised here. used to go hunting up ia that area. In a nut shell those little towns used on the only roads into the state. 27 being one of the bigger ones. When the turnpike was put in with I75 and then I 95. It killed all those little places , I 95 was not completed until late 80s 90s. State road 27. Is a good one to come down on. Keep up the vids thanks for spending some time And money here.
@Kayla Friday hope your back on your feet. I stayed at governor hotel a few times. It looks like their rebuilding the entire town. Some buildings still flattened.
Thanks for posting these videos! I am not the only one who is looking at Central Florida for a place to visit and then settle in. The businesses in those little towns would be wise to form a chamber of commerce and make a website. Its time to rebuild these communities.
How cool! You were in my area! I work in Blountstown, in fact just a little ways down from the courtyard on Main St. Blountstown and areas look a lot better after Hurricane Michael , but we still have a long way to go! Thanks for driving through!
Thx for posting those videos! As a Canadian,I love your beautiful and amazing country .I love Florida and never have enough time to do what you do.Keep on the good works.

Can only agree. Disney is for kids
The Night stalker, YES. The real world, not the fake one.
PlayboyGenius You can stay out of my business.
I agree....the Disney clips are boring....the roadtrips are brilliant 😁
Old School Woo!!! I Love it Adam. What a great way to start the New Year! Thanks for inviting us on your trip.
Hi Adam, my dad is a huge fan of yours! He lives in Blountstown and was so thrilled to see that you came through our town. Hurricane Michael really took a toll on the whole area.
Very relaxing and interesting places to visit. Want to see rest of your videos too, thanks a lot.
Greetings from Sweden. 🤗
I really like when you do these kind's of trips.
Camaro 1968
Yea , I really like the filming locations too.
Those and these are the best.
Disneyland not so much.
Love traveling the backroads and seeing the sights through your lens Adam. Thank you for all you do. Safe travels.👍🏼🤘🏼😎
Really interesting, I would love to explore this area too. Thanks for showing us. ( 🇬🇧 UK)
Thanks Adam...Wow day 1, the journey begins. Loved it. Looking forward to the coming days ahead as you trek through the south. THESE are my favorite vlogs. Your demeanor and laid back approach while recording is just perfect.
I traveled that area trying to escape hurricane Irma, while avoiding the freeways. Like stepping back in time
Irma was horrid for sure.
I love your back roads journey. My dad would do that when we were young. I loved it. Fascinating little museums and old Americana. Much of what you are seeing is familiar to me. Thank you for posting these!
I just love how you get up close and personal with back road America...Enjoy the journey!!!
DJ Farrell Close and personal? I didn’t see him talk to one person.
This is OUTSTANDING! All with NO Cody! I love it - keep up the solo vids Adam! 🤘
This is the Woo I like! I think you could do a whole channel just based on the “empty and non-tourist” areas of Florida for years.
Florida is more rural small towns that tourist areas, so I believe you're right. I did transportation planning for many of the rural areas and was shocked too see just how rural it was as a state when I moved there over 25yrs ago out of college. Some real hidden gems, along with some little infamous ones too.
@@kbbels what hidden gems did you find. I live in Florida and want to explore small towns.
Awsome video. My wife and I love all of your videos cause you do such great history about the topic etc. You have such a unique way of telling us about your videos. Great work 👏👏👍😎👊
Just stumbled on your channel. Really interesting take on the back roads of the country! I'll follow along for a bit. Safe travels.😊 --Mark
I love these videos the best. These back road trips are fascinating
We love all of your videos, Adam. No one compares to Woo!
I agree with most of the community/comments here. Adam's back on a ROAD TRIP & weeeeee love it!! Thanks Adam 👍😃
Quintessential Vintage Woo!. SUPERB camera work, composition and patience allowing viewer ample time to soak in objects, signs and general ambiance. Masterful.
Thanks so much
Now THIS is the Woo I love to watch! :)
This is the kind of content that I subscribed to you for. I'm so happy to see you bringing it back!
Once upon a time the seats of that gym were regularly filled with jubilant teens. Were you able to hear the echos and see the ghosts?
Sneakers squeaking on the gym floor....
Godspeed!
We are going to love this series of videos :-) Seeing old buildings is always interesting.
Way down upon the Swanee River,
Far, far away.
That's where my heart is yearning ever,
Home where the old folks stay.
Way down upon the Swanee River,
Far, far away-hey.
Wo, that's where my heart is yearning ever,
Home where the old folks stay.
All up and down the whole creation,
Sadly I roam.
I'm a still a-longin' for the old plantation,
Oh, for the old folks at home.
Ah-oh-oh!
Oh, my my!
Well, way down upon the Swanee River,
Far, far away-hey.
Wo, that's where my heart is yearning ever,
Home where the old folks stay.
All up and down the whole creation,
Sadly I roam.
I'm still a-longin' for the old…
I grew up in Gainesville, FL. Moved to PA 17 years ago after college. Man, did this video take me back! Love it. Makes me think of visiting my Grandpa in Interlachen. He'll be 89 in April, still lives in the same little trailer on his lake!
I was fortunate to see Bo Diddley live in concert
I saw him back in 06, he was great!
rock crusher canyon
I hired him to play on the oldies boat on the South St. Sea Port back in 1979
@@arthurg8 When was this in 1979 ?
Thanks for sharing this. This is amazing stuff to watch. Its like a History Channel... Greetings from Germany
Oh-clock-née river is its pronunciation ,I lived there as a kid and we used to swim there every Sunday!
Love this old school type of content !!! Excited to watch the next eight days. Great work once again Adam.
Loved this first edition and look forward to more!
I have lived all over Florida in my life and have been to most of the places in your video. Great job. I really like your style and your eye for interesting things to film. Thank you.
Don't stop at the Bates Motel in these spooky semi ghost towns your traveling through. Also look out for speed traps and small town cops.
You'll get a ticket for going 16 in a 15 mph zone.
So love when you go the back roads. I would rather do that then go the highways!
Great vid thanks for taking the time out to do it
Kinda reminded of Charles Kuralt cbs Sunday morning type of vibe 🤔👀👍🏾
Thank you, Adam! You're back.
Thank you for sharing your adventure! Makes me sad to see all of those forgotten Souls(the buildings). Wish you the best on all of your travels!
Thank you, Cory
That damage was from Hurricane Michael.
Came ashore just to the west in Panama City and Mexico Beach.
Thank you so much for that wonderful guided tour of ghost places. I loved every second.
I'm in the UK and it's so difficult to find abandoned places. There are some great places in Wales. Ex mining town that are abandoned.
people lived entire lives fell in love hearts were broken and died in this place
Just shows you how important all that stuff is.
sounds like a country song
@Nobby Barnes Now there was no reason for that. He was just sharing a verse. He didn't preach or anything and you had to chime in.
Juan Vargas wow!! Que frase tan profunda
Really loved the video .. nice long beautifully framed shots .. feels like I am wondering with you from my living room. Thanks for doing what you do.
Having grown up in Orlando in 1959 visited many of these out of the way places loved seeing all brought back some great memories
Really enjoyed it too
Interesting, and thanks for being so steady with the camera, not everybody is.
Lucky Duck I love Dan!!!
The damage at the end was from Hurricane Michael. It destroyed Mexico Beach, FL.
Sort of sad these small towns dying. Good job. Safe travels.
How cool! You were in my area! I work in Blountstown, in fact just a little ways down from the courtyard on Main St. Blountstown and areas look a lot better after Hurricane Michael , but we still have a long way to go! Thanks for driving through!
I just finished shoveling snow -waves from Canada-, how odd to see sunny streets and people in t-shirts... looks soooo nice!
Thx for posting those videos! As a Canadian,I love your beautiful and amazing country .I love Florida and never have enough time to do what you do.Keep on the good works.
Every Town has its story
Indeed
So true!
Would be funny if someplace was so boring it didn’t have a story 😂
Happy Happy New Year Adam. Best of everything in 2020. Thank you 4 taking us along. Very interesting. Sad 2 see these places gone. Lots of history.
