Accompanied by The Electric Strings (an 18 piece all-female orchestra) the group perform all their classic hits, including the legendary "Golden Brown".

Golden Brown by The Stranglers
Golden brown texture like sun
Lays me down with my mind she runs
Throughout the night
No need to fight
Never a frown with golden brown
Every time just like the last
On her ship tied to the mast
To distant lands
Takes both my hands
Never a frown with golden brown
Golden brown finer temptress
Through the ages she's heading
West
From far away
Stays for a day
Never a frown with golden brown
Never a frown
With golden brown
Never a frown
With golden brown

It must be so cool to hear an entire orchestra playing YOUR song. Brilliant.
i can remember as a child in my bedroom, listening to this and looking through the window at the golden brown leaves of the autumn trees, a memory i will never forget. this song is a classic, and groups like this wipe the floor with any of todays rubbish.
@Marcos Carrera yup
Define "rubbish", boomer.
Oh and OO wipes the floor with N.
@@TheMusicalElitist boring and predictable. whens the last time you heard a rock opera. or punks with a classical orchestra. not this century
dancing to this song, in a completely empty pub, seems to be the perfect world... :)
Thats kinda dark isnt it?
This song never gets old !! Amazing performance !!
Oh such happy memories of the 80's.
The singer really makes me appreciate how beautifully HughCornwell sings.
😂 This one's ok!
One of my favorite's songs ever!
Perfect performance, especially by Paul. Epic.
Like a sweet breeze on a warm summer’s eve..
love the way this song evolved. god bless the stranglers, and their fans i think paul did a bloody good job as a strangler the stranglers rock
Wow! That is how you communicate! Perfect song and I just LOVE those girls. How much grace do you want in a song? Superb.
Pure classical gold
Endearing chills, that's what comes to my mind when I hear this song. live or original...
I love the melody. I don't care if it is about drugs or if it is about a woman.(or both :D) Just love the sound of it. You don't always have to analyse a song to enjoy it. An d the acoustics are awsome, wish I had been there.
Amazing with the strings.
GOSH! this is one good slap in my face for the next days!
I always loved this song but this interpretation is briliant, elegant, wonderful!
Paul Roberts is sooo gorgeous!

One of the best hits of the 80's!
lead singer singer is Paul Roberts. a band is not the same when the original vocalists goes.
+michael jagger True though, he does it much justice.
True. Imagine Led Zeppelin without Robert Plant or The Smiths without Morrissey!
I love Hugh Cornwell but this guys cool as f☆☆☆
@@fluorosco hugh cornwell is cool as fuck, this guy is a cheeseball tom waits/david bowie wannabe literally doing air guitar on stage. and actually he now does david bowie covers professionally, in a david bowie cover band. riding on the coattails of the great originals, IMO
@@AvanaVana oof! That's me told.
I love Hugh Cornwell and DB. I thought this guy was pretty good when I saw him.
Off for a Belgian beer or ten.
Take care👍
stunning version
Amazing
Best Song forever
Damn. That is some damn good.
fantastique chanson.
Trasciende. No sé cómo, pero trasciende.
And still here we are! (Finland)
great great!!
just brilliant !
that gives me the shivers
Wow If I was one of the Stranglers I would be proud of this.
Nice performance, digging the imaginary cow milking with his free hand too ;]
POWERFUL
Hits hard this tune.
simply the best
iv seen them 3 times, but i have to say this concert there isnt much to beat, just epic^^
He still does not recognise the importance of that piece! Astonishing!
Ah, yeah. Makes sense. Thanks.
Thank you Mr Dave Brubeck for composing this masterpiece !
Its composed by the stranglers, that video you may have seen is a fake
it is in 5/4 time, so thanks, Dave Brubeck.
@@ragnadrabinowitz7629 3/4 timing with occasional 4/4 bars
Punk becomes classic ^^
The music!
love never die...
Dope
Awesome !
Good job mate be proud
very deluxe!!
I have always wondered bout that after seeing Snatch. "Never frown with Golden brown" just thought haha
On her ship tied to the mast
quite from wikipedia: "There has been much controversy surrounding the lyrics. In his 2001 book The Stranglers Song By Song, Hugh Cornwell clearly states "'Golden Brown' works on two levels. It's about heroin and also about a girl". Essentially the lyrics describe how "both provided me with pleasurable times." [2]
😻😻😻😻😻👏👏👏👏👏
to go from pub rock to this
That's my job ;-)
PUNK ROCK!!!!
Wow! This is the best song about Heroin. A deal with the needle. Those bad little kiddies doing bad little things!
Love trust guy and h
Yes very nice song ^^
nice song
such a sombery, Elegant song. I had the song almost spoil't for me by someone telling me GB is euphamismz for Herion. But i ask of this performance- what? Is it in one of the FRIDAY 13th movies? Lovely string section.
Hey, i was able to recconect my Utubes to me FB's! Now you can see my thunderous song markings all DAY LONG!
This is it.
Funny you all moan he isn't the same as Hugh, but who cares he tried and kept the performances live for fans.
New Strangler song 'If Something is gonna kill me':

1 hr 48 mins into show
where can i buy this music? i love it.
I love it
fucking awesome
Gordon Brown texture like sun
Lays me down with my mind he runs
Throughout the night
No need to fight
Never a frown with Gordon Brown
@ablah15 I can get that you don't like him, he's not Hugh, but you can't really say he doesn't hit the notes :\ he isn't pitchy at all.
Hugh and the bass guy got tired. These two new front guys make the band LIVE ON :)
Heroin, so magical yet so evil.
Best Wishes to Sidmouth - my favourite (that was 1978 summer)
true
BEAST OST in SNATCH !
omg he is SO high right now
@Downcrisis the first time i heard this song, it was sung by a girl i knew, with a guitar and i actually thought it was an advert jingle for biscuits or something, to be fair i only heard like the first two lines :P
is it just me or is the volume too low to hear??
how can u hate that song????!!!!! say me
can you imagine. Me -13yrs old kid.... Devon..yeah. Sidmouth.
@snipermatic Ok Wikipedia could be right. An old friend of mine which is(haha) a hippie told me this explanation.I never verified it......took it for granted....
Wonderful song......
About tripping... that's what I like... I did and never regretted it.
For tripping music...Try The Orb... Best wishes.... J-W.
😁😁😁
i dnt see why everyone thinks its so shit...i like his voice...i know its not perfect,,,but still quite good.
Nice ^_^
i prefer the voice he used on the track but still fucking AWESOME
The version I have on CD is closer to this one than the version I normally hear. Why is this?
Agree he has a good voice, which fitted this version well, who is he? I saw the Stranglers 30 years ago, but I've lost touch completely. A friend told me last night that JJB does most of the singing now, but Wikipedia mentions Baz Warne (??) as guitar/vocals. Anyway, I prefer Hugh singing - but it's only by a cat's whisker (or should that be a rat's whisker!!).
@TheAwesomeRising I believe the Stranglers thought of it as a kind of Rorschach test, to see who would make the mental jump to heroin. Just sayin' ;)
Love the song too BTW.
gooooooosbuuuuumps
I realize that every version can't be like the album cut... Nonetheless, this made me think of Richard Cheese doing a lounge version of this classic
God will listen Golden Brown if he make love.
... Classical musicians. They can never keep time.
And no, it's not just creative use of legato.. They really can't feel a beat.
@samos1991
Nothing more to SAY AWESOME
I'm in love with that blond girl (1:33)
