  • Stranglers - Golden Brown (From "Friday The Thirteenth")
Probably the most enduring band of the UK Punk / New Wave era, the legendary stranglers
perform live at London's spectacular Royal Albert Hall.
Accompanied by The Electric Strings (an 18 piece all-female orchestra) the group perform all their classic hits, including the legendary "Golden Brown".

    Golden Brown by The Stranglers
    Golden brown texture like sun
Lays me down with my mind she runs
    Throughout the night
    No need to fight
Never a frown with golden brown
Every time just like the last
On her ship tied to the mast
    To distant lands
    Takes both my hands
Never a frown with golden brown
    Golden brown finer temptress
    Through the ages she's heading
    West
    From far away
    Stays for a day
Never a frown with golden brown
    Never a frown
    With golden brown
    Never a frown
    With golden brown

Trasciende. No sé cómo, pero trasciende.

quite from wikipedia: "There has been much controversy surrounding the lyrics. In his 2001 book The Stranglers Song By Song, Hugh Cornwell clearly states "'Golden Brown' works on two levels. It's about heroin and also about a girl". Essentially the lyrics describe how "both provided me with pleasurable times." [2]

Agree he has a good voice, which fitted this version well, who is he? I saw the Stranglers 30 years ago, but I've lost touch completely. A friend told me last night that JJB does most of the singing now, but Wikipedia mentions Baz Warne (??) as guitar/vocals. Anyway, I prefer Hugh singing - but it's only by a cat's whisker (or should that be a rat's whisker!!).
