Seeing that the road is plowed to the ground doesn't show me how the Kia Sorento drives in unplowed snow. For example, if I am at work and can't leave early but 5 inches of snow falls, I will need to get out and get home. The roads probably will be crowded, not thoroughly plowed, etc. Is there a video that shows the Sorento driving with a few inches of snow on the road?
Performance in snow is more about tyres than anything else. Extra ground clearance helps too, but tyres are key, an AWD or even 4 WD with summer tyres isn't as good a 2WD on winter tyres.
Not entirely true. My Volvo S40 AWD had Limited Slip rear diff. My Crosstour had an open rear diff. I used the same Firestone tires on both cars. the Honda Crosstour was HORRIBLE. I drive the S40 in 12" of snow, plowed my own way out. Crosstour didn't make it 10'. I had 2 dealers look at it and both said the 4WD system was working as it should.
I leave in Canada. 5 inches of snow is quite common here. With (very) good winter tire and the locking differential engaged you will get through like a snow plow :-) My car is a 2014 Kia Sorento V6 AWD equipped with Goodyear Ultra Grip Winter tires.
