- We dropped Rylan off at BYU in Utah for college (she is a mid-year Freshman), and we are a mix of sad for us and super excited for her! Watch the full vlog to see how her moving week went, as well as our goodbyes! Where do you want to go to college? COMMENT BELOW!👇🏻

I still can’t believe that we just dropped Rylan off at COLLEGE! It’s hard for us, since she graduated High School, so technically we are losing her 6 months earlier than we expected, but Shaun and I are SO PROUD and excited for her to follow in our footsteps at BYU, GO COUGS! I’m all over the place with emotions.

Goodbyes are always sad, especially with her siblings, but this one was a bit easier because she flies back to Dallas this weekend with Kamri for our Hairitage new product photoshoot! Brooklyn and Bailey, and the hubbies are really gonna miss her. Paisley's goodbye was probably the saddest, because she has really bonded with Rylan lately! That, and I was actually going to see her the next day. (Shaun and Rylan left very early in the morning for the drive out to Utah, and Daxton did not want to wake up for it... he said mumbling with his pillow over his head, "Just tell her I said goodbye"😂)
Rylan and Shaun left a day before I did, to drive her car and all her stuff out to Utah, and I flew in the next day. She and Shaun picked up her student ID and dorm key, and after they picked me up, we started moving her in with some help from Kamri. Shaun and I had to make a few Walmart and Target runs, with a little Home Goods but she’s all set up in her dorm room!. Rylan now has all her text books, schedule and everything she needs to start class as a Freshman on campus TODAY!
Rylan is majoring in Communications & Advertising, hoping to go pre-law, but she’s taking classes that also interest her like Anthropology an Writing. I know she’s going to thrive and do so well at them! Rylan texted us this morning to let us that it took her 17 minutes to walk across campus to get to her first class, and that she’s already met some really cool people.

I just wanted to say thank you for respecting Daxton wishes to not be on camera! There are too many channels out there who push their cameras in their kids faces when they don’t want to. It’s nice to see parents respect their kids wishes!
I also can’t imagine how it must feel to have four kids moved out, in college and some even married. Such a big family, loads of responsibilities with the channel and brand and I think all of you are doing a very great job!

Interesting to see how other cultures do things… in Ireland going to university does not equal leaving home. You keep your bedroom, you have a home to go back to whenever and for however long. You wouldn’t bat an eyelid at an adult in their 30s still living in their family home!
I think it depends on what you want to study aswell. In New Zealand it's not uncommon to move out of your parents place into a house with other students esp if the uni you want to study at is in a different city because they offer the course you want. I know lots that have stayed in the boarding halls too. Fraternities/sororities arent a thing here tho but we do have flat initiations haha but yeah I get what you mean it is different aye unless the uni is a plane ride away we dont just not see our families for a whole semester haha
@@PennyStrother oh yeah I really didnt make myself clear. So we leave & either do student housing or rent a flat/house privately… but we don’t also have to simultaneously move our entire lives out of our parents house. You have your room for as long as you need it & it’s perfectly normal to “move back in” when uni is over.
In the US we do still have our rooms when we go home and stuff like that but depending if you go to college out of state or a couple of hours away from your home town we either live on campus or we get and apartment. Majority of the things we buy are dorm relate unless you live close to her college in an apartment then it comes full furnished at least where I live does. However majority of the time it seems like we are packing up our whole room when I’m reality it’s not. However, this is a great experience for us to learn how to navigate life without our parents. For me I commute so I just drive back and forth to school and just stay home. Majority of my friends stay on campus or have their own apartments but it’s a really nice experience. I feel like it depends on you. It’s not a goodbye more like a see you later. Since we see our family on holidays and weekends if you’re close enough to do that. For the most part it depends on the person
My uncle lived at home until he was 30 and everyone thought he was so weird.
honestly in the US this type of move out is rare. I know for me i went from
having my own room with a queen bed and big closet to a dorm. i needed twin size bedding, could not take all my clothes and nobody in my house had been sharing a room or would be switching rooms. the same goes for most of my friends. seemed odd to me she’s moving out especially when college is essentially boarding school for the first couple years, with extended breaks that people usually return home during.
I love Shaun ✨ He is an amazing dad🙏🏼 And Mindy of course is an amazing mom ❤️ Such incredible parents 💕
I always love when a family can respect a persons wishes, in this case Daxtons. It’s very important in my opinion to not force your kids into things your doing. This is why I love watching your families videos! 😀

It's incredible to look back on how the family has developed over the years. I started watching B&B when I was 13 and this year I am turning 25, which is crazy.

It’s been quite a few years since I was in college, but I used to rent my books instead of buying them because it was much cheaper and I never had to worry about selling them once I was finished. I just returned them at the end of the semester. Best of luck at college Rylan! 😊

I also drove through a snow storm with my dad as he moved me to Utah from Oregon 😭 this was 6 years ago but true bonding for sure!
And then there was 2 left at home. I can't believe I've been following you guys now for 13 years and now the older 4 are moved out, with college and marriages under their belt! That's just crazy!

I hope that she has a lovely time! 😊 I wasn't made to clear out my room at home or get rid of my stuff. Uni doesn't always work out so it is good to a have a room to come back to at home. I ended up becoming very ill and not enjoying uni anyway so I'm grateful that my room at home was ready to move back into ❤
But there are less of us in our family so no one desperately needed my old room.
