This is my first attempt in using windows lite on a 2014 Acer laptop, still HDD. I'm still using this build and it's relatively smooth for an oldie. I have SSD but no experience disassembling a laptop to replace HDD. Really slow laptop so I didn't hesitate trying Windows Lite yesterday upon discovering it. During install, I ignored the format part and the result is messed up, so I started over. It's my first time doing a clean install since I started with Win 11. Fresh start is the best way to experience 24H2 with Ultimate Lite. Now restoring MS Office, browsers, etc and 100Gb files from backup. Thank you so much for this wonderful project saving my crappy crawling laptop from retirement.

Just to share: Clean install wiped out some drivers. Acer laptops are likely to lose Bluetooth. It helps to check on Windows Update after installation of OS immediately. On Advanced Options, I found optional updates listed the lost drivers due to clean install. Download all of them. This worked for me, my Bluetooth function is finally restored and also device drivers updated. Then I paused updates to max once more.

Hey James, remember me? We "spoke" a long time ago in T.OS.. I am a fan of you, truly like your builds. But I need to ask you: do you test your OS Builds to the maximum? I installed the "Neon" version and it wasn't OK. Sometime it got stuck for a little while and what I found out the my external audio interface was "lagging" ... (My drivers/AMD/memory/videocard (whole PC) is working normaly fast without problems. So maybe you bloated or removed too much? Did others had some complaintes? I will download another OS, hopefully it works as good as your "Reflection" OS. Thanx anyway. Razz
OMG I am considering that I am a Mac user I may migrate to that using bootcamp assistant one question will bootcamp work for when I need to apply the drivers to allow me to properly use the OS that honestly looks nicer then macOS itself lol

Interesting Build, looks indeed like Garuda Linux, so, no need for me to switch to linux. I think I will update to Windows 11 when Windows 10 will be down. Use AOMEI Backupper, you can make image of your system and you can restore it not only to your pc but any pc, Microsoft system backup is pathetic why would you use it?

I’m very interested in this custom OS, it gives me nostalgia for some reason, but I do want to know, how does it get updated and will it still work with all Windows software? I.E. gaming software such as Steam and Epic Game Store, and other general stuff like Anti-Viruses, Art and animation software and whatnot? I’m asking all of this because I’m actually an artist and content creator, and to be sure I can still keep my computer secure besides relying on Windows Defender.

You can enable automatic updates through settings, but our recommended method is to leave auto updates paused and download the manual update packs from our website instead - this will help keep the OS bloat free and background services to a minimum :)
@WindowsX-Lite I have a question I hope you do not mind. Which of your 11 Pro Builds has the Movies & TV App. I know you can play videos & Movies in Windows Media Player, but I like the feel and love the Movie & TV App.
You can add any Apps you would like to any of our releases. There's an optional Microsoft Store installer included in the extras folder, which you can install to download the Windows Apps you would like.

In some of your Windows build, it stated that it removed Windows defender. My friend installed that version, but is it possible to add back just the Windows Defender feature alone without reinstalling the whole system?

Neon v3 installed - nice, James - I wouldnt have expected it, but the Ultimate Neon editions seem to run even lighter than the home and pro versions

Yes, you can install any of our releases with or without TPM and Secureboot enabled.

All releases require a clean install to any partition of your choice (you can also dual boot)

@@HendrikBez For Home edition, we currently only have Optimum 11 Home in 22H2, 23H2 and 24H2. Ultimate 11 builds are Pro only for the time being.

For most people, I recommend our Optimum or Ultimate builds. They are all similar in performance.

yes you certainly can - just go to task manager - startup apps tab, and disable rocketdock.exe

Yes! You can change the location of the taskbar, and the dock to suit your preference after installation.

Yes, the transparency is on by default, but you can easily turn it on or off through the start menu - x-lite tools folder :)
