‘… I gonna put some material in, where I think the eyes are gonna be …’ I immediately see 2 eyes :) You make it seem so easy. I really love your work. Thanks for the post!
As a clay sculptor, I learned a similar approach, belatedly, work fast and loose, and in my case, turn the piece at least every 4 minutes. Don't fall in love with any aspect early. Refine the parts you find, and want, to be important. And I'm talking, mainly, about works on subjects other than portraits. A delightful, inspiring look at 2 dimensional art form. I now want to buy paper and charcoal.! Thank you! Wow!
@@susanarodriguez7067 nope, you are talking about compressed bars of charcoal, he is just making charcoal burning wood and pushing away oxigen (sorry for my english, im spanish, dont care)
Awesome! More of these dude. Preferably where you show and explain how you translate the Photo reference to your paper in order to keep the likeness of the person. Always fun watching your vids:)
Just discovered your channel today I’m so excited because charcoal is my favourite medium thank you so much for sharing I’m going to watch all your videos and begin drawing again I’ve stopped drawing for the last 18 months because I became an accident and emergency gas on now it’s time to get my life back and this will be a fabulous way to begin thank you so much
Your approach seems sculptural in that you use charcoal to block in broad planes, then remove it like you carve out form. It is very beautiful and the gestural marks create a liveliness and dynamism.
I bought charcoals months ago, watched other tutorials but just wasn't gettibg the concept. Found your "Beauty from Chaos" video and did the first picture I am actually happy with. Wasn't as good as yours of course, but I'll keep at it. It was the chaos part, I have all of this chaos swirling inside me. Before, I was over thinking my strokes. So I just let that chaos fliow out through my hand. Thank you so much!! Have you watched videos of people doing gun piwder art?? It looks cool too.
Nice job. We can use the remnants of a bonfire if purchasing isn’t an option. The pressed blocks do adhere better than willow I find. And are generally darker.
It seems that my charcoal just doesn’t stick to the paper, and when i blend it it just goes on my finger. Am I doing something wrong, maybe there’s something wrong with my charcoal? I tried different types of paper.
Compressed charcoal + kneaded eraser + pure natural talent = the work of art you just produced. Your an incredible artist, but your no teacher. Do yourself a favour, and concentrate on being an artist and forget tutorials.

I really enjoyed your commentary... For me, you were effortlessly imparting a more sophisticated ideological view of drawing.

Love your work👍 amazing how those two strokes for the shades in the ear made it more readable 👌
This is art, feeling the drawing. Most people nowadays just copy images like a printer, i used to do it but just figured that's not what art is.
I really appreciate your way of teaching and the words you use!!! Your good at describing the flavor of your Artl! ZEN!
