I couldn't find a new switch by itself (comes as part of the motor) so I would have had to replace the motor. Since my motor was still working fine, I decided to take the switch apart and see if I could clean it up. I was able to clean/lubricate the plastic arm's pivot point and get it to move freely again. Put everything back together and the dryer is working fine.
Not sure how long this fix will last so I went onto eBay and found a used switch (exact OEM part) for $20 to have as a backup...

How did you get to the motor and what did you do to fix that problem. You said you cleaned it and lubricated it. Does the motor need to be removed to do that?

I took mine apart and the spring that gives the red arm within the switch tension was rotated and not providing the proper amount of pressure. Rotating and realigning the spring is all it took! Take your dryer apart and put it back together with this video: ua-cam.com/video/RWn3uuI9ZfQ/v-deo.html. Anybody can do this!

QUESTION: i need to ask to clarify this: can you just replace the relay on the motor to fix it or do you need to get a new motor?

I have not tried that because i have not sourced just a relay only. But i think it may be an option

Some people did manage to clean / re-adjust the centrifugal switch; to make it toggle, after 5 seconds.

Not much help, I'm sorry to say. First, a person can hardly hear what you're saying, then you tell what's wrong, But how do you fix it? How do I tear this machine apart and replace the part you're talking about?

It's not called relay in the motor.

Ok. Thanks for correction. Let me know if you know what's the name of that part

i think it is called the centrifugal switch. It helps boost the current to the motor at the start of the cycle. The switch is on (connect) when dryer is off and for only five seconds when the dryer is started. Five seconds into the powering up the motor, a sensor senses the drum is rolling, the switch is supposed to be switched off (dis connect). To cut off the boost current, that is no longer necessary. Like a negative feedback system. If the boost current doesn't switch off, another sensor senses that the amount of current to the motor stays high after 5 seconds, and it would switch off the motor. To avoid burning the motor. Which is what happening to your centrifugal switch. It wouldn't disconnect, five seconds after the motor starts running, due to wear on the contact and high temperature operation through the years. Some people managed to use a metal file to clean the switch contact, to avoid it being "on" all the time.
