Why I Finally left Nigeria - Japa

  • In the last 2-year thousands of Nigerian Youths and professionals have left the country in search for a better opportunity.
Not just opportunity, but also for safety, as insecurity in Nigeria has got worst, and the economy got harder.
Worst still, there seems to be no sight of change in the near future, so the only option for many people who have the means is to leave the country.
This wave of mass migration to foreign country is has been termed
    JAPA.
A Yoruba slang that means to “ run away from”

This is a pre-Japa plan, so am still much in Nigeria. But..... The future may tell differently. So for now I still dey Nigeria oh. Thank you

Oh man.. you are really good at it and made it so so real… like Haroon, I feel much relieved to read your text now.. having said that, this is really a good clip to show your Government on what other countries are doing and how it helps to give a different impression to the other countries and their citizens too… Nigeria do have a slightly different priorities to address and help the citizens there…

You said something remarkable here, that S. Korea was occupied by Japan, was 6 decades ago one of the poorest countries in the world, and is currently always under threat of war from N. Korea but look at the remarkable and consistent changes that they e made.
As a Nigerian national, this is hopeful for me b/c the world has not ended and there are many good things that are happening for our country now in spite of some of the bad things (like all other countries).
Discipline, humility towards each other, order, and fairness is what we need. It has worked for the Koreans.👍

As long as we respect and value money and material things above productivity and visionary growth, we just can’t develop. We have people aspiring to lead Nigeria who prefer to hold town hall meetings after medical tourism in foreign lands, whilst shunning town hall discussions in Nigeria. I have never seen the countries we copied democracy from campaigning in a foreign country and then beaming it back to viewers in Nigeria. It speaks loudly about what they think about the country they say they want to lead…

Hahahaha free WI FI . There are also better other things. Did I hear you compare Nigeria and Korea. It is like comparing apples and Oranges. No discipline in Nigeria etc. I will miss all the nice video but go ahead and make your life and your family's life better. You will run into issues but they are issues that can be ratified. I agree with you that travelling is a personal decision and migration is not for everyone.,but I need you to understand that life should not be all about money and financial gain a mindset that majority of us have as a result of the environment we were born into where the government has denied most of the citizens the basic necessities of life.Till the end of time people will always travel or migrate round the globe, that is why you see even people from countries that are doing well still travel. The only difference is that people from such countries travel or migrate for the experience they wish to gain, weather ,good jobs etc unlike majority of of nija who are economic migrants. You will never understand what it means to live in an environment where everything works even if you have no money .I sincerely hope Nigeria will get it right someday but I also know that every society is a reflection of its citizens.

having billionaires and millionaires mean nothing when those same people send their children away to school or seek healthcare outside of the country/continent. wealthy people exist in every country, no matter how poor it is. so it's no accomplishment for there to be rich people in nigeria or any country in africa. at the end of the day, they've made it but the country as a whole is still in the toilet and non-africans recognize that and still won't respect you because you've built nothing great at the end of the day.

The most worrying thing about Nigeria is the fact that nothing is progressing, Nigeria of today is even worse than 30 years ago. In other countries they have nation building, steady progress/development year in, year out but in Nigeria the opposite is the case. Fuel scarcity every year's for a start, in any country they would put measures in place to stop it from happening again but in Nigeria, the next fuel scarcity would be worse than the previous year. Look at the environment in South korea and other developed countries, why would anyone leave such a place for Nigeria? Nigeria have clueless people for leaders, people that just can't seems to grasp the concept of leadership. If our country was half as decent as this why would anyone japa? Even without employment many would stay if government actually build a nation, infrastructures, beautiful environment for its citizens...Nigeria need a complete change of mindset, people that would start building a nation rather than their bank account. Enjoy your stay. Thank you.
