AGREE we have a good team but not a great team we have to give HEUPEL time to rebuild this team back to its glory days he came to a program that was devasted by several bad coaches, I do question the play calling in this game but whats done is done we move on and hopefully learn from this experience GBO
man those were some dumb/in your feelings questions they were asking Josh. one of the reporters mentioned something about "2 hand touch and mortal combat". that was silly, very petty. Tennessee got beat by a really good football team, the reporters act like they just got beat by Onion Ring Community College
Bad coaching calls, lack of cohesive effort , and then of course horrible ref’ing , led to that complete second half collapse. Not as much of a failure as last year at South Carolina but still gonna hurt for a long time.
So sick of people complaining about refs. Are bad calls made? Yes! Refs make bad calls that hurt and help both teams. But football games are won or lose by coaches, players executing, scheme, preparation, and in game adjustments. If the team is loosing “close” games or loosing games by 14 because of referees the loss is on the team. Josh never once said the refs cost us the game. Football is still football. Go VOLS!!
So I see an article on google where they say bad calls caused their loss. BS! What about the arm going to a bama player after they were down, where was that call?
This was a tale of two halves...this loss is squarely on the coaching staff...aggressive play calling on O and D in 1st half...2nd half, they went ultra-conservative on both sides of the ball...it's a time-honored "tradition" at Tennessee to play not to lose when having the lead, instead of staying aggressive and playing to win...Milton's indecision and unawareness in the pocket, is a huge problem. The zebra's inconsistent officiating didn't help matters, with them calling "nit-picking" holding penalties on the Vols O-line and ridiculous PI calls on Vols D, while Bama was doing the same and only got penalized 1time for 5 yds...Tennessee gave this game away.
@@ominousbagel512 yep that's actually what I think is going on. So many teams are getting blowed out in the first half and then making huge comebacks. An like you said just pitiful play calling. I mean Vegas is involved so I wouldn't be surprised at all if it's all set-up.
Last year in sunny Knoxville we had a good game u all beat us by 3 and I said it time for the rivalry to get back to where it was 20 years ago bama had won 15 straight roll tide
Well much beloved Vols youre still on your journey. We all make mistakes . Just know this old Tennessee fan loves you if you win or loose. Dont let the haters get you down. Gods got this. Besides, theres so much hurt going on all over this world. Too much time to take from the day to complain. Shine your orange bright lights ! Love and miss you all, Love, Barbie Kyzar
He’s gonna really go silent on the penalty question to make his point. But keep in mind Tennessee got 8 penalties for 55 yards. Were some ticky tack calls in Bama’s favor…yes. But Bama got 17 penalties for 130 yards last year in Neyland. So there’s a little perspective. And it still took a last play field goal to beat Bama. Biggest one with Kool-aid icing the game on the pick that got called back. That didn’t happen to Tennessee today. If Bama gets only 8 penalties for 55 yards last year…game prob isn’t even close. Keep that in mind
Coach , I agree the momentum in second half was way off. Shake it off. Start again. I love my Vols with all my heart. You have done more for this team than any coach in several several years.
Sure, but not last year at Tennessee were there were four specific no calls that could’ve led to Alabama first downs, and then one was a touchdown, how about the Tennessee player that punched Roydell Williams in the head and it didn’t get called
1 penalty against Bama for 5 yards on a botched snap that would've been a sack and a lost down for Bama, what a wild stat. Rumors floating around that today's head ref is a realtor in Tuscaloosa. Officiating wildly changed the momentum and outcome of this came. Also Milton should be a RB or TE, not our starting QB, but the amount of holding and DPI not called on Alabama was astounding, if this game were in Neyland there'd be trash on the field
A single penalty against Bama, for 5 years yards, on a play that was already screwed lol, calling major bs on that. Dixieland delight is still a song about Tennessee. If all you can do is mock and not make a strong argument against what I said then you know I'm right lol@@davida4771
your team is 1-15 vs bama in the last 16 years. bawhahah. thats whats trash. and it wasnt close this year. and you would have been 0-16 had it not been for the refs last year. i must say, this is so satisfying reading these comments and watching JH press conference. but please excuse me if i dont respond after this, ive got to go smoke this cigar. 🥳🥳
Always amusing when fans blame the refs for their teams loss. Instead of blaming the refs perhaps Tennessee fans should blame their Bobby Hill looking coach for going for it on 4th down twice and not making it.
Roll Tide! Great game, don’t understand why y’all hating on the coach that broke a 15 year losing streak? I wanna show respect but y’all some snitches 😂
Anytime this crew is officiating an Alabama game, bet the farm. Love a crew with an eye on the spread. Not enough to win, you gotta cover. This crew is money!
Coach, punt the ball on 4th down with a chance to pin them inside the ten twice, that being said Tennessee let this one slip away. First 2 plays in the second half totally changed the momentum, I felt if Tennessee forces them to punt and scores this game is over. So this one is on Josh and the players...the refs didn't help Tennessee out with some ticky tack holding calls in the second half and one penalty on Alabama for 5 yards. SEC officiating please have some consistency in the pass interference and holding calls.
Yeah, but Bama was still dominate in the second half and put better rushes on the QB. It was a superior effort on Bama's part, and they deserve the win.
This was on Josh for not making halftime adjustments. Did he not think Saban was going to?!!! That and poor play calling when in the red zone and going for it on 4th down! And enough with the WR screen every other play!!!
You can tell he is a very emotional man inside. He feels terrible like he let the University down. He's a very average coach. The offense completely fell apart after Jalyn Hyatt left.
He’s had a top offense every where he has been. This is the worst offense he’s ever coached and they still average over 25 points a game. Hyatt was a big loss but he didn’t make the program what it was the coaches did. Sometimes you have to work with what you have
How about last year Coach, was officiating one side at Tennessee were a player from Alabama goes to make a catch and a Tennessee defender literally grabbed him by his face mask and drags him to the ground, with an official standing right there. Is that one-sided? It’s funny Coach Saban never gets ask about the officiating. Shut up and go home.
If your team gets beat by 2 touchdowns you can’t blame officiating. I could say where was the flag when the UT player jumped on and punched the Alabama player in the head after he was down? Bama outplayed and Saban out coached Hepuel in the 2nd half.
I love this coach, he doesn't cuss his guys out and he's not just a coach he's a part of these guys! Tennessee hasn't had that since Fulmer. 3rd year in coach you're doing terrific. We lose to a good team and everyone expects us to give up. Nah, not how we do it in Vol Nation 🧡🏈
Give your salary back! You blow a huge lead and make poor choices! Alabama owned you! The staff and the coaches utterly failed! You blew a lead! Pathetic

I've watched that game three times. There were missed calls on both sides. Either team could have won that game! See if you can find the real world out there somewhere!
And Alabama fans never make excuses ? We did not play well enough especially in the second half. Our player that struck the Alabama player should have been ejected period. But saying your weak offensive line that has torn jerseys off every team they played this year not getting but one penalty in a joke ! I don’t care who you are. The SEC needs to clean up their officiating crews. This is not a new problem ! I’ve watched other games that were terrible and it is universal in the SEC. Clean it up commissioner !!!!!
Alabama scores 27 points in the second half and Tennessee scores zero. Second quarter is not Tennessee’s strong suit ! How much do the pay this “head coach?”
Bro what is everyone’s problem the man has lead us to more wins than any coach in the past 10+ years he’s a great coach and we have a good team
I agree. That doesn't mean he doesn't make bad play calls. Love Hype as our coach. It's a learning curve.

Grasping defeat out of the jaws of victory, a Tennessee tradition!
Did they ask the same question about officiating last year? Super curious.
