Thanks a million for this!!! I haven't had a stye since childhood. Even then, I don't remember having them often. Now I'm 68, and guess what?. I've hit the jackpot with either a stye, or a badly inflamed eyelid. In either case, having watched your videos on both, I'm relieved that it's not something as scary as it looks. However, in my case, I can assure you it's been caused by very dry eyes, because I hardly use any make up. And I've had constantly twitching eyes during the last couple of weeks. Thanks again! 💙
They can absolutely be contagious and often times are, especially with younger children. I don’t think it’s coincidental that all three of my children are currently experiencing different stages of styes (beginning, middle and almost fully healed). No other illness, allergies, changes in diet, soap, shampoo, detergent etc… It’s a bacterial infection (as she states) which means it can easily be spread through contact. Touching the infected area and then touching a surface that someone else may come into contact with. Warm compresses will help to alleviate any discomfort of the infected area such as itching, burning and tenderness, but that is all. Antibiotics in the form of an ointment or pill are often needed to treat the infection. This video is honestly frightening to me, The common sense is out the window! Please do your own research before you take the word of any doctor because this is where we are!
Just saw an article about eye drops just approved by FDA for presbyopia. Just wanted to get your medical opinion if this is something you would recommend.
Hi Dr. Rupa. I sometimes wear Kiss Falscara lashes (dupe of Lashify). My problem is removing the glue from my lashes. Any suggestions to safely and completely remove the glue?
I recently got one surgically removed, the doctor said it’s been there for a few months now so there isn’t any other option but to get an incision done… was there another way?
Have you been noticing any change in the size of your bump/nodule ever since you had it or after starting treatment with drops..ointments and antibiotics?
hello doctor, i was diagnosed with a stye- now my husband has one (neither of us have ever had them before) hes freaking out that i possibly infected him.. are there any other reasons were both having this now?
I got a stye on my left eye, it went away by itself after 5-6 days. Right after I got one in my right eye now this is the 8th day and it’s still there, also this one is external and you can see the big white puss building. Can I pop it?
Hi Dr. Rupa Wong ! You mentioned that you have seen that children can sometimes get styes from foods. Is there a specific test that could help determine this? I suffer from really bad styes that typically require both oral and topical medicine. They take me our for a week most of the time. I stay on top of my eye hygiene and dont get lash extensions but keep having this issue. Im wondering if maybe it could be food related! Anyhow, if you know if any tests i could get done please let me know. Thanks for your videos! Cheers, Valerie
Thank you I never even knew that could happen I took my 11 year old daughter to the eye DR just for her th tell me boil an egg every day for 2 weeks for 30 min and it can go away ohhh n for my insurance to get a $300 charge n a 50$ co pay out my pocket 🤯
No, if it is on the white on the eye it is not a stye... It could be a pinguecula, a pterygium or tumors (benign or cancerous) or possibly other things as well so definitely have it checked by a professional to identify what it is and if it is dangerous...
As @MarbledPaladin commented below - a bump on the white of the eye isn't a stye. There are many types of cysts or masses it can be, benign or neoplastic as well. Check with your ophthalmologist!
@@MarbledPaladin thanks I don’t have it but my son had it once and it was like a clear fluid filled bump on the white of his eye that went away on its own after about 3 days.
Hi Dr. Rupa can you please tell me if I can still wear my sleeping mask at night? I noticed I see one trying to form and I’m not sure if that harms my healing process or not 😢

I’m plagued w styes I get them because of allergies & people always think it’s pink eye & get all scared lol
I know - everyone is so worried they're going to catch it. And, you can't. Styes can be painful though.
I had a stye on the inside of my eyelid over the last week, it is not longer red, painful or swollen but there is a visible bump?
I have same issue. How's your bump?
@anshumanojha9506 took awhile but finally gone
@@cjmehus7839how long did it take for u. I have it on my lower eyelid and use antibiotica salve
@@cjmehus7839how long did it take and where was the bump located?
Im a welder and I get these awful things more often than I wish. I generally just heat em up and bust them. Drain em and they’re gone
This was so useful!! 🌺
I'm so glad!
