Daniel Caesar dropped an exceptional male R&B album just last month. It’s called NEVER ENOUGH. Usher and Pink Sweat$ have dropped great singles in the last few months too. Joe Budden clearly isn’t looking for male R&B music
i think the problem is you have to look for it, it wasnt promoted heavily on mainstream platforms
i honestly don’t like her music as a woman. i can’t relate to having that kind of toxic experience with men on multiple occasions. and to think about hearing that on repeat is depressing.
this album is different from he original sound more of a neo soul vibe

Women can say "I just killed my ex, killed his girlfriend next" and women applaud and bop to the metaphor. Women have always been allowed to do this (i bust the windows out his car). Men could never use those metaphors and slowly cancel culture and women empowerment (go ladies) have taken others away. Male songs used to talk about how hurt the man was, the average young woman now doesnt care how a man feels. Strike. Male songs used to say how they would be the womans knight in shining armor. Women now would say they don't need that so that no longer resonates. Strike. Men would talk about how much pleasure he'll give her. Still kinda works sometimes but tread lightly the first time an accusation comes up that card is played. Strike. That leaves you basically begging (heartbreak anniversary) for a woman that enlightened your life to be with or come back to you. That leaves very little to be creative with. No, im not hurt nobody try it, i just write songs and know the struggle. 😂

My point was that the subject matter grab bag for women is so wide you can even make songs that suggest domestic violence and men are limited to just a few topics. But one thing I've learned in life is you can't make people see what they can't and don't want to see, they'll just say it doesn't exist 🤷🏾♂️

Male R&B is NOT dead!!!! And I'm sick of this narrative. There are quality TALENTED male R&B singers out here (me included). If y'all just don't like male R&B singers, just say that, but stop saying it's dead because we are THRIVING. If you wanna hear some good male R&B, look for it and give it a chance. Truth be told, the R&B that most people go up for is NOT R&B.
No female R&B artist even charts well. The whole genre is stale. It peaked in the 90s and it has been a dud in the last decade

I’m sorry, I missed when Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Ro James, Miguel, BJ The Chicago Kid, Lucky Daye, Tone Stith, Mario, Anderson Paak, Bruno Mars, Pink Sweats, Blxst, Kevin Ross, Tank, James Fauntleroy and even vets like Musiq Soulchild no longer existed…..the new generation guys as well as the veterans are still keeping R&B alive. FOH

I’ve been saying for years now that the women are kicking the men’s a** in r&b. Not trying to make it a competition and there are a lot of unknown guys, but it definitely sounds like a lot of the men in r&b wanted to be rappers and didn’t have bars so they auto-tuned and sampled their way into a career.
Stop it all women r&b copies from men are you slow bro lol..Party created the new wave that all these chicks sound like and use the same beats. Women listen to r&b more so duh they have more listeners. New generation of men aren’t listening to r&b like that at all. I think my point went over your head lol. The ones that ARE making music are putting out at best decent to good projects. The majority of near excellent works are coming from females (Ari Lennox, Beyoncé, Tinashe, Cleo Sol, Dawn Richard, etc)

The best tracks, best writers, and the freedom to make any content they please and STILL have it be supported by a label. I know this for a fact, intimately. How things are presented can make a huge difference on how they are received. But sure all the ladies projects are better than the non-existent major label male projects.

He issued a challenge to all the other male R&B acts to stop making the hip hop infused shit and make some real R&B albums that went unheeded for the most part.
