Well that explains it! I turned my phone off after I started charging and wondered why I couldn't disconnect!

Thanks for the video. It is possible to register any RFID card that you already have free of charge (if you can work out the RFID number). I have several registered “just in case” although I’ve never used a cpsgenie charge point!

Are you still a big PlugShare fan? I’ve been playing with ZapMap so far with its routing facility showing Charge Points within a specified distance of your route. I’ve not seen that facility in PlugShare.

Yeah still a PlugShare fan, it links into Google map or apple map to route you too any charger. Still prefer it above ZapMap personally. Just find it (a) nicer interface (b) You can add / update locations you find anywhere, even if it’s just a 3 pin plug in a hotel garage

The website says you can buy an rfid card or register your own card, so can you not just register your polar card with the charger for use next time ?

Yes. If you look at other comments somebody has suggested this too. Can use your Polar or any other charging RFID EV Card.

@@ThePlugSeeker Thanks, glad I understood correctly, I could not see anymore than one comment 🤔 turns out I had top comments only selected. Sorry 😁. Thanks again though.

I do not see any need for an app. All the other charging apps are buggy, why would CPS Genie's be any different? The Polar Instant app is in my experience completely unusable. At least with web activation you know it will work with any browser, on any device, and you can easily place a bookmark on your phone desktop for quick access.
You can also register any RFID card to use with CPS Genie. That includes any other charging networks RFID card, or any contactless credit/charge card (not neccessarily the same one you use to fund your account) It is no longer necessary to work out what the number of the RFID card is. All you have to do is access your account details while standing next to a charger and press 'Register' and follow the instructions. The charger will read the RFID card you present, and upload its number to CPS Genie.

Yes. Somebody else told me about using any RFID card on Genie point, Ive piggy backed mine onto one of my other charger RFID card, works great. I share some of your reservations with phone Apps, I think all should have option if RFID card too as well. Ideally also debit / credit card option too.

Yer phone has "range anxiety," but not your car!

indeed this was the case with this one! But it does illustrate why Charger networks should all provide option of either RFID or contactless with all their rapids. None should rely on mobile apps. If the phone does you can’t activate the charger of make a call to Helpdesk! I am thinking especially of Ecotricity or PodPoint Rapids!
