I found an error 3 pack once, where it was advertising the wrong pack on the back of the package. The image showed Lighting McQueen, Rust-eze Cruz, and Jackson Storm, but the actual 3 pack came with Lighting McQueen (Yay), Metallic Sterling, and regular Cruz. Note: I purchased it at Walmart, when I also got the Thailand Cars 2 McQueen, and the Mini Racers 3 pack of Dinoco McQueen, Metallic The King, and Dinoco Chick Hicks.

Personally, as far as having a ton of duplicates, I'm fine with that. I could use them as replacements in case any of my main ones get damaged, and I could also use them for demonstrations.
