Very good instruction on reversing. I rarely ever reverse. I found that the bees will force the Queen back down into the bottom box. Thank you so very much for taking your time to share! Appreciate you!

That was very informative I have a hive that has nothing in the bottom box and I don’t even like the way the comb looks I’m thinking about swapping it out

Thank You. This hive sounds like it may be a candidate for reversing. If you decide to replace wonky frames, remember, you don't have to replace all at once.

I have noticed as the day warms more and more fly squad. They are moving up and down with the temp.?

Great information. What do you do if the bottom box still has 5 or 6 frames of sugar syrup honey from fall feeding and I have almost no drawn comb to replace it? Last spring I was heating it up and spinning it out, what a pain. That was only 2 colonies, I have 7 this spring.

You can use it in splits oryou can give a frame or 2 to a hive that doesnt have as much. You could also remove a couple and replace with new frames during a flow. They will draw new frames out in no time. As you get more hives, you will have more flexibility in hive equalizations.

@@lakeviewapiary Thanks for the response. How do you deal with the bears around here? I hate having to have an ugly bear fence around my apiary.

James Townsend I swear by the bear fence. I know not astetically pleasing and a pain to set up, but bears are smart and tenacious animals. You spend way too much time, money and effort on your bees. Also, you don't have to use the rope style fencing. You can use horizontal strands around t-posts. I run 5 strands and bait the strands with bacon (you need the bear to go in with their nose or tongue).
