    3:39, nice view down Grisedale. Very good advice. I've only had one self-inflicted issue when I lost signal to the drone, but as another poster comments, it's worth your while just to think about the 'what if' stuff, and know what you are going to do in advance.

    Good instruction, Ian. A week ago I used “find my drone.” I was standing in the exact spot where I had taken off and had initiated return to home. But DJI would not let the drone return saying it was “entering restricted air space.” I could move the drone left, right, and backward, but not forward back to me. While moving the drone to the left, it nicked and branch and fell to the ground. I turned on find my drone and flash and beep and was lucky to locate the drone before the battery was depleted. Thanks for all your great tips and clear instructions. Cheers. (And as you said, I should have just landed instead of moving the drone left and right with no obstacle avoidance.) And happily, there was no damage to the Mini 3 Pro.

    Thanks Ian, it’s one of those things “that never happens to me”- until it does, so it’s best practice to acquaint yourself with the ‘what if’ scenarios even though you’ve prepared your flight for the current conditions. I think the most difficult decision must be the land now rather than trying to battle your way through until the signal is lost and so is probably your drone!

    As every a great video Ian clear and to the point, I lost signal once and a bit of a worry but it started a return to home and when I had the signal back cancelled the return to home. After a crash with the drone the find my drone wasn't working after a few hours hunting I found the drone and the battery had fallen out which is why the find my drone wasn't working luckily for me I found both, but you need battery power for it to work. Good to have a refresh happy flying.........

    I lost my first dji Neo in a gust of wind just before christmas and while helping a friend taking photos of a chimney in street next to mine. A guy walked down the street and said he found a drone like mine a week before and he get it for me. It worked with battery in it straight away and had been outside for weeks in wind, rain and snow. 😀

    Nice one, Ian. Not had a fly away myself, but I have had my mini 4 Pro stall in strong winds. I use a rule that if the gimbal jerks as it reaches its limits its time to bring it back. I've used the tac' method a few times when it's stalled in a parallax manoeuvre. Great advice, as always mate. ❤
    Ps. I know my drone has a level 5 rating but TBH that limit is giving you a considerable factor of safety ....... hence the tac' thing! 😂

    I had a critical low battery and tried to raise the drone over a railing but it wouldn’t go up with the stick pushing up - luckily I was able to retrieve the drone on the other side of the railing- lesson learned is don’t wait until the battery is at 10 percent- you should return to home at 30 percent or more

    I've flown for many years and never lost a drone. I find them using RSSI. I can track them up to 1/2 mi or so, to get close, then turn on the drone (or plane) beeper, to get their exact location. Many fly away due to wind etc., but none lost, so far.

    the old Phantoms with the atti switch were great for atti practise and filming drifting video , now new flyers have no option to learn how to fly safely in GPS loss leading to panic then loosing the drone as they have no idea what to do or even that you can still fly the damn thing back home 😆

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  14 годин тому +1

      Yes, other from wondered why there's no option to manually switch to atti mode for practice 👍🏻

  • @femiomomo
    @femiomomo День тому +1

    Also with everything switched on and connected, using the physical switch on the controller, switch from sports mode to normal then sports. If the changes that you make are NOT replicated in your display,, DO NOT TAKE OFF!!.
    Restat your drone and controller. Then repeat the above.This procedure should be followed before every flight, but especially after any updates.

Keep My Batteries In My Jacket Pocket To Keep Them Warm They Do Not Like The Cold Weather, Won't Take Off. At Least It Is Better Than Last Winter Which Had Continual Rain And Wind For Months. If I can't get the drone back to the take-off point and I want to land somewhere further away, won't the drone turn on RTH and won't it rise up and try to come back when I lose the signal? Shouldn't RTH be changed to Land in the options when I lose the signal? Or should I use option land and then RTH will not engage when signal is lost?

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  14 годин тому

      The automatic rth will only kick in if it loses signal or if the battery goes too low. If you try to land remotely and are in control of it, it will land without going into rth

    Gute Informationen, sich vor dem Flug darüber Gedanken zu machen. Die Find me Funktion funktioniert soviel ich weiß nur mit dem Controller nicht mit der App, wenn du über den WLAN Modus fliegst. Da hast du auch eine geringere Reichweite. Und die Avata bzw. Im FPV Flug hast du diese Find me Funktion meines wissen nicht. Nur die Flugaufzeichnungen und die Warnton Auslösung. Wenn du im WLAN Modus geflogen bist kannst du eventuell versuchen deine Drohne mit dem Controller zu koppeln. Dann sollte sie als Homepiont auf der Karte angezeigt werden. Auf meine Avata 2 habe ich einen Air Tec Halter geklebt. Bei Fliegen lege ich dann einen Air Tec ein. So kann ich die Drohne auch finden, wenn der Akku leer wäre und auch über mehrere Tage suchen. Da kann ich auch ein Akustisches Signal auslösen. Vorausgesetzt man hat ein IOS Gerät. Funktioniert natürlich nicht bei Wasserung u d wenn du die Drohne versenkst. Anderer Supergau, beim Absturz verlierst du den Akku, dann kann ein Air Tag auch hilfreich sein.
