- We kicked off 2024 with our first couple's trip of the year to Jamaica! It was our first time trying out Secrets Wild Orchid so I am providing a full detailed review for those we are eyeing the resort.
Hi we’re Olu & Steph. Because we had to move around a lot for our training - she’s a lawyer, he’s a doctor - an immigrant parent’s goal couple lol - our first home was extra special to us because it was finally a place we could set our roots. Although not common, our goal is to make our first home our FOREVER home.
Also, with all of these home projects, it’s also good to step away from our forever home and take a break! So we travel!

@@yourtwobiggestbills everything you mentioned is EXACTLY how I would have felt! Don’t get me started on the first cruise “and last” from hell lol but that’s another story! $1000/night they better give you a gold toilet 🤣😘

I really appreciate this review. My wife and I are going to Excellence El Carmen in DR soon and I’m looking at Oyster Bay for next year. But I was comparing it with Wild Orchid. This was a great detailed review.

Try any of the sandals resort they never disappoint.

If you are listening before visiting it sounds picky, but if you have visited....you are spot on !!! Sales pitch, maintenance came quickly to fix bathroom, air freezing, long wait for food so didn't get to try as many options. Beautiful resort though 😂

I'm going solo in a couple weeks .....five nights and a flight from North Carolina was $3200 for the ocean view king suite.

We are headed to Wild Orchid in two weeks. We were invited to celebrate my bros 50th. Let me tell you…. my last trip to Jamaica was Excellence and we stayed in the preferred side so I’ll probably be feeling a type of way like you did. I will however remain open minded because I’m there to celebrate my brother. Will let you know..
Have a safe trip! Definitely keep an open mind and enjoy it. We were still able to have a great time but had to shake off the negative parts. Let me know how it goes! But definitely watch out for the sales pitch, it’s right after they check you in, they tell you to go to another person and she or he will go on and on if you let her or him!
You know what you do....Say no, unless you want the free stuff. I have stayed at Secrets Wild Orchid a couple of times. The first visit they tried the sales pitch. The second visit they did not even bring it up. The bracelet thing is new to me, but its been a few years since we've been. The other stuff I never experienced. Love the resort, the room, Junior Suite Ocean View king, the food, the beach, and the entertainment, especially the live band (Pace). Didn't pay the 1k per night. Going back in June of this year. So I will see. I do want to stay at Excellence at Oyster Bay, to give Excellence another chance, but it was more expensive. I did stay at Excellence Playa Mujeres last year, and loved the room we had, but was not a fan of their food at all. Nor their smoking policy as I like to smoke cigars, and was expected to huddle with cigarette smokers in a small smoking area with very limited seating. That could've been a Mexico thing, but did not enjoy that, especially since they have a cigar lounge that sells cigars, yet you couldn't smoke in it. The entertainment was ok as well. No regrets for us on our previous visits to Secrets Wild Orchid, other than not trying the preferred side. Then again, the 1K per night...not sure the enjoyment would be that much of a difference. Also depends on when you go.

Is it possible to get into breathless for a fee if you dont have a preferred club?
I have not tried to access it for a fee but when I was reading reviews, it seems like it’s possible. If you’re on Facebook there’s a Facebook group for Secrets Wild Orchid and that’s where I saw people mention it.

How much does the preferred club cost?
It likely varies based on season but I believe it was about $200 more per night to be in preferred vs a regular room.
Preferred has your own butler and your own hut
Is that just for suites in preferred? We had preferred but not a suite and didn’t have a butler but maybe we just didn’t get a good butler and he/she never checked on us 🤷🏾♀️.
They literally have you sitting going through a whole sales pitch just to check in your room. Ridiculous
Exactly! I cant understand how that pitch is successful. At least let me check-in and experience the resort before trying to pitch me!
There was nothing kuxury about thus resort. I wouod not go back. Although i had a good time.... My room had bed bugs room 3117 got bit the hell up
Bed bugs! Oh wow, that is terrible! I’m glad you still somehow had a good time. We had a good time too but definitely shouldn’t be at the price point it is and definitely isn’t luxury.
I am a subscriber, and I mught stay a subscriber because I like what your doing in your home, but this was too long and boring. Life is not perfect.
