- In the last four years, Pakistan's only centre for spinal cord injuries has seen a rise in patients injured by bomb blasts and drone attacks.
In most of the world spinal cord injuries are the result of road accidents, and until recently, the majority of Pakistan's cases were the result of falls. For the Paraplegic Centre of Peshawar, however, ongoing conflict in this border city has changed those statistics.
To deal with the rising number of patients injured in bomb or drone attacks, the Paraplegic Centre is offering both rehabilitation aid and vocational training to help the victims re-enter mainstream Pakistani society.
