What a great insight for those teachers in India who are planning to migrate to Canada. A well taken interview that covers all aspects and an indepth information given by the teacher out of her personal experience of her journey from a private school teacher in India to a permanent public school teacher in Canada. Hi ! I've completed my diploma in elementary education and also cleared CTET paper 1 but i have no teaching experience, am i eligible for the elementary teacher job there in private schools?
With lot of Respect "Jaskirat Singh" Sir, I hope this message finds you well. I want to express my sincere appreciation for your dedication and consistency in providing valuable content on UA-cam. Your insights, especially about teaching in Canada, are incredibly helpful, and I am grateful for the time and effort you invest in sharing this information. I am currently in the process of pursuing a teaching career in Canada, aiming to teach high school students (Grades 9 to 12) in subjects like Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics, following my graduation in BSc. While I have completed my BEd course, I have no prior teaching experience. I would greatly appreciate your guidance on a few questions: 1. What minimum percentage is generally required in graduation, the BEd course, and IELTS exam to secure a teaching job in Canada, without facing challenges and ensuring a good impression? 2. Is there any kind of interview process before one can be hired as a teacher at a school in Canada? 3. Since I am coming as a student and would need to study further, could you recommend any courses or areas of study that would enhance my teaching journey and prepare me better for the classroom? Thank you so much for taking the time to read my question. I look forward to your detailed and insightful response. God Bless You.
Thanks for kind words. Glad you found the video helpful. 1. Generally 75% in B.Ed. As far as IELTS in concerned, there is no such minimum criteria or cutoff score (that I am aware of). 2. Yes. Usually you will go through a 2 step process (the last round is with usually with School Principal) 3. Would recommend focusing on AQ courses (Additional Qualification courses) from Queen’s university or Western University. They are usually required if one wants to teach grade 9-12. Each course costs around 700-800 CAD. In case you have more questions feel free to reach out on workwisecanada@gmail.com
Great information😊. I have a question to ask here and hope that you will be able to shed some light on it. I wish to know if is it mandatory to apply for some kind of residency visa simultaneously while applying for a Teaching License or supposedly if someone wants to directly apply for a Teaching License only without applying for a PR (PNP/ FWS) in this case. Is it still possible to secure a job in Canada? Since I already hold a Master's degree, have 2 years of B.Ed. and have 5 years of teaching experience without investing much in further education or PR I would straight want to apply for a Teaching License. Your suggestions would be much appreciated & thank you in advance.
Hello, OCT -Ontario College of Teachers- is only applicable to the candidates who are either a citizen or have a Confirmation of PR document (CoPR). You can only apply for OCT license if you have this. So if you are planning to come to Canada, make sure to register with www.oct.ca prior to coming to Canada so that the registration process starts. Make sure you have all the attested documents from the colleges or universities you have studied in. Let me know if you have other questions
