About Me:
My bio is pretty random: In short, I am a professional singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada who moved to Manila, Philippines which sorta became my Hollywood because my first UA-cam channel MIKEYBUSTOSVIDEOS grew popular due to Filipino comedy videos. Meanwhile, I'm also a big biology geek who is obsessed with ants, so I built an internationally operating ant business supported by another popular channel called ANTSCANADA, and well basically, today I travel and tour around the world doing what I love so I wanted to start this vlogging channel, in hopes to encourage you guys to follow your dreams no matter how random, by showing you what happened when I followed mine! You just never know where life will take you when you listen to the yearnings of your heart!
I think it is better to spread the lights to other branches instead of positioning them in a line, not only it will look more magical but also maximizing the area it can lit up.
I think it looks very modern to align the lights, but I would personaly prefer stringing them across from branch to branch so that they sit at different heights and feel like they are really hanging or floating magically.

Hi Mikey you can ask your electrician to cut the lanters and add some wire to spread it to the throughout the tree. It will look better, just a suggestion 😉
Right. Ask an electrician to re-wire the lanterns, make them longer so they can be hung at different lengths.

I agree. It would look way better if they hung up the thinner part of the trees, not in the branches, only if it's not too hard to do.
Love those capiz lanterns. But for my two cents, I humbly suggest you spread them all over the tree branches and hang at different levels. Your electricians should be able to do it. RJ has such a good idea to put lanterns in the trees. I think I like the random placement rather than having them all in a line. Regarding your sloping ground in the back: we have friends who have a sloping lot like that. They cut several terraces into the hill so that they would have flat areas to plant on. To explain, instead of the land going down the hill on an angle. The terraces make it look like stair steps. There is room on each step for several rows of plants depending on how deep or wide you make the terraces. Gloria 🐂
The positioning of lanterns on that tree near the pond works well because it is staggered and not placed in a line and making it look natural, plus it also makes it look like the lanterns are glowing fruits of that tree, especially since the lanterns are elongated and look like one of the mango cultivars that can be bought from the market.
When you mentioned that rabbits can usually only live for like 5 years, it's actually just the lowest end of their life expectancy as domesticated rabbits can have a life expectancy of 8-12 years, and in some cases they can reach 14 or even 18 if given the best care there is, especially if it's spares no expense. Guinea Pigs however live on average of 5-7 years in captivity, although some have lived longer. I plan on keeping both rabbits amd guinea pigs in the future both as pets and a good source of fertilizer for their poop.
I love the oblong cluster down the stairs. The round orbs close to the house are beautiful also and have the look of mini full moons at night 🌕 🌠 I visualize a cool outdoor table below the round orbs at the corner tree with you and RJ having romantic evening dinners 🍽 🍷 under the tree. I suggest that you put rice hull as bedding for your chikens. it will minimize odore and you can change it from time to time. The collected rice hull from the chicken coop would be great fertilizer since it will be full of microbes from the chicken manure.
I just love you both. RJ supports Mikey all the way, and Mikey supports and appreciate RJ’s passion for designing ang curating stuff. They love to give constructive criticism to each other. And that’s a plus to a healthy relationship. Being vocal and honest with each other is totally our vibe. ❤
I really like the oblong lights in the back but I think the round orbs change the atmosphere in yard. Your previous lighting radiates serenity and a very romantic atmosphere. The orbs I feel take away from that and gives the yard more of a party vibe vs understated elegance. However, I do like the look of the orbs from the bedrooms and the pool reflection with the lights. The flower tree is beautiful, love the trees by the road and everything else looks wonderful. The staircase boughs are really gorgeous. RJ definitely has a lot of talent as a designer.
The social enterprise of Filipino artisans is amazing... and buying local really helps the entire country...from barangay to province and more!! Help it go global! I love you and RJ so much! Positive vibes!!!!!!!!
I agree with the other comments about the lanterns. They would look better staggered. Having an electrician customize the length of the wires may be the best route. You can also opt to not attach them directly on the branches, instead drape them between the branches, like a swag.

The lights are pretty but should be spread out and hung at different heights so it looks more like a magic garden 😅🥰 just change the height of each pattern.. not matching on one line. ☺️

I’m loving all these decorations. The most fun about this, for me, is that RJ is going so all out… the notion of he wakes up and decides “let’s put lights 30 - 40 feet up in the trees” and BAM, we have a team of guys, building scaffolding, hanging lights in the trees… somehow this just cracks me up (in the best way)… GO, RJ, GO!
Now, these lights in the trees, IMO, are GORGEOUS!! I think ya’ll need to hang more. I think it makes the place look so festive, all you need is to add a party, the cousins and some awesome food (I’d volunteer to cook, LOL). I really love those shells, I think they’re totally Filipino and perfect. I do hope they hold up if there’s wind and such. I really think the key here is more, more, more. I think these are a great, year around addition to your yard, for sure!
Those golden C-mas trees are fantastic! Yes to stringing lights into these as well (gold lights, golden trees, gold stars on top…. Gold Is Everything (TM) LOL ). All the other decorations really do look awesome!! Can I just share one thought? I think a very lush, possibly Gold-Heavy wreath that would totally encircle that round window at the front of the house, lots of lights, would look very cool… :).
Rizal makes me smile. He’s got so much to say, LOL. That Britney just looks like she’s smiling and living her best life.
I do have to agree though, that cute outside tree needs a star on top… OR… maybe a doggy-angel? I think this tree is a great addition and I love the decor/theme of it all.

If lantern shape lights, I do agree it would look better spread out, but I also think lights wrapped around like how they do Christmas lights in Canada/US would also look really nice.
Lights look so structured. It takes away the natural looking vibe, i think the goal of those lights are to create like stars twinkling or fireflies which are usually scattered. I love how RJ is so into decorating and very passionate about it. And i am pretty sure he is open for suggestions and opinion. He was able to make the house really beautiful, I am pretty sure he will do the same with christmas themed house.i am so happy yall loving christmas, it makes the home,more homey and warm. Hope you will also have ready tsokolate, you can prepare bibingka and puto bumbong as christmas activity.

The tree that you were asking about seemed to be Ceiba pentandra in my opinion. I could be wrong. But we have plenty of those when I was young. My lola used to make pillows out of the cotton like material it produces!

The straight globe lights if u don’t like it the first time that won’t change. I suggest hanging branch to branch. Since you have resources to change this, lucky you!

Nice decor,I love them.the extra space you can plant fruit bearing trees like papaya,star fruits mangoes or langka and a lot more.
RJ has such a good eye for knowing what will look good! I love the flower tree and the metal trees out front, as well as the ornaments on the stone wall inside. And I especially love how you appreciate and support his talents. 🥰
I’m not sold on the lanterns as-is. The problem is that the tree limbs are too far apart to get the natural staggered look that would be more what you imagined. I think you should try the clusters - in my mind they would look like gigantic flowers growing on the tree.
That iguana cage is massive! Perhaps too big? I’d say add more animals, or maybe add screen to divide the current cage into 3 parts and 1 part (with access through the iguana cage). Then you could place an animal in the smaller section that might share the same habitat but couldn’t cohabit with the iguanas. It’s fun seeing how well the farming lot is coming along.
The Mabuhay house is AMAZONG. but what's importance is the people living in the house giving positive vibes. God bless you both Mikey and RJ. Good job to RJ.

The lights look so magical! We have something similar in our garden but the lights are affixed to the trunk of the trees lighting upwards to the branches and our trees though not too tall (mostly rhododendrons and dogwoods) look majestic. When RJ gets a moment, please have a look at RHS Wisley Glow - such a beautiful riot of colourful lights highlighting the trees! We visited last night - a truly enchanting sight! x

RJ is very good at decorating and surprised he hasn’t been approached to help design professionally (not that he would really have time to do so with managing you as well as the building projects at the “Mabuhay Farm House” ).
I love the lights that are in the tree near the Pinot Chalet but the ones near the house really need to be scattered to different lengths or clustered and different lengths. I would always go with the, “Less is More” look when it comes to putting up non security type outdoor lighting! But the design also depends on what you’re wanting it for. Do you want dreamy with different wattage of LED lights along with the “scattered look” in your trees or do you want Times Square-esque bright exterior? I’m sure whatever you decide will look great and although it isn’t my kind of style but it might be yours and RJ’s. Especially as the only people that need to be happy with it are you two!

IMHO the best arrangement is to mimic the location of where you'd expect the fruits to be. Kind of random, but evenly distributed.
I love Christmas contents! About the tentacles, probably hang the lights randomly on the branch so it spreads all over. Kinda like if you sprinkled lights on your tree. Overall, I love your vlog!!

It was funny watching you try to be okay with the caterpillar lights. I'd say change them because they never will sit right for you.
I feel like once you live in a place for a really long time. your ideals change of how your house should look through the seasons. We never used to decorate for Christmas. In my child hood home we never used to do so , But when we moved into this current house we have lived here for almost 10 years. We have started decorating every year since we lived in this house.
I can relate with RJ, I’m very festive and love decorating most especially on Halloween and Christmas. It’s a different kind of happiness while going through the process but a lot more satisfying when you see the end result and your vision brought to life. Great job RJ! Mikey, it’s always a delight to hear your insights. If I’d be really honest, I think you should’ve just scattered the lights, it would look a lot better. 😀

Mikey, ask your landscape architect to help you with the position of the tree lights…day or night, it looks ugly…..if staggered you do not need a lot of lights.Go to Antonio’s Tagaytay and look how they did their trees….it does like an octupus guarding your house

Beautiful home and garden. The tree lights are put on so straight, all aligned and even from each other on the same height and length of branches. They’d look better if they were installed un even just like how string lights look.
I love it, and as you mentioned in the video about making a Christmas party because your hunny is putting a Christmas tree outside. You both should do one for your employees that will be so epic

That kind of lantern is supposed to be in the edge of the roof or wall because of its linear wiring. There are lantern that have same design but diff. wiring you can ask the seller. The flower xmas tree looks really good but its kinda looking lonely on the side maybe add little lamp or glowing gift boxes on the floor beside it. I was thinking the same thing about the golden xmas tree outside being taken hahahaha

If I may suggest, SA trees, instead of having them in a straight line, you can do a zigzag so even though it's on one branch but it would look a little bit staggered and not too much like an octopus arm
The lanterns on the trees looks like octopus tentacles. And I love how you guys were like trying to convince yourselves that it looks good. Hahaha maybe try to put the lanterns like how you decorate your Xmas Trees.
The lanterns by the pond look like glowing fruit while the lanterns on the tree by the house looks like a ...sorry RJ,..... a hollywood makeup vanity. Maybe if you bunch them up in groups instead of lining the branches... That'll make them go from clinical to natural.

Dangle some a little with different heights as you said would make it better. I never put up the light perfectly in one try so you can make a little experimenting before you finalize the positions 😊

Just wrap a regular xmas lights around tree branches. Looove the rest of xmas decors.
You need to add some more down to the trunk. Extend / Connect the lights down the trunk of the tree. Have your electrician add longer wiring so you can scatter the lights to your liking. Thank u
I suggest to scatter the lanterns in random. It shouldnt be 4 or 5 in linear pattern. Wouldnt a xmas tree be good to be placed beside the stairs behind the bean chair?
RJ, that tree is too small next to the pool. This was the one time you should have went all out. lol Where you said you'd put coat hangers would be a great spot for oversized stockings where you can put gifts for the pets.

😂 Listening to your description of the octopus tentacles lights/circus tent vibes is hilarious. Maybe you could string them along your border around the property, or drape along your house outline?
I think the lights look better Iif it’s scattered along those branches, it will look a lot better and organic, and the Christmas tree outside is I think overkill’s the natural ambiance of your house. It will look better if it’s in the staff house instead, but that’s your house Mikey and RJ if that makes you feel happy then I have no complaints 😅

Mikey, I love the way the side yard is coming together. Suggestion.... maybe terrace that sloping hill. It would help keep the top layer from sliding down there.
