    To anyone having connectivity issues with the RAX35 or RAX40 router, the issues are finally fixed on the new firmware 1.0.3.94
    I shelved mine for 2 years after buying it because it had so many problems but this latest firmware, the wifi is solid. No dropping.

    I found this router (RAX35) at Walmart on clearance for $100 and thought I would give it a try. It's replacing my older Asus RT-N56U. My first impression is that I like the interface of my Asus much better. The Netgear seems "Generic" not sure how to describe it but that's my initial impression.
    I did have problems getting the router to connect to the internet during the setup process and finally got it to connect after unplugging my modem a few times and turning my Wi-Fi on and off on my phone a few times. The setup process just seems buggy. It took several tries to successfully connect to the internet.
    The range is definitely much better which is why I bought the router. I have a Blink Wi-Fi camera mounted outside over my garage and before the signal was just weak. Now it shows a full strength signal with the Nighthawk.

      I agree. I have a rt-ac66u and love the interface but you will get use to using the netgear interface, just give it time. Glad to hear you got it all working.

    Just got this router and it's been a huge upgrade for me in terms of speed but my only complaint is it seems to take a bit longer to bootup than my old router, like 3 - 4 mins but no big deal I'm not restarting it everyday

    • @kelleytech
      @kelleytech  5 років тому

      Hello Waylander and thanks for watching, I think this question is about the part in the video were i said, call your ISP and have them reset your modem. If your having problems connecting to the internet and cant figure out why. Call your ISP and ask them to do a modem reset AKA signal reset. Could not get mine connected until I called my ISP, I have never had to do this before on any router but it worked. Hope this helps!

    • @hanyhn
      @hanyhn 4 роки тому

      Network engineer here and you don't need to call your ISP at all. If you haven't set up special parameters on your modem it's safe to hit the reset button on the back or just unplug it for 1-5 minutes. All calling an ISP does is them telling the router to Reboot and refresh the DNS. If you want to be sure you're DNS is configured properly just go ahead and disconnect modem for 30 mins and then plug it back in while the router is on so it can gather the data it needs.

    I ma curious on the viewpoint of if gaming with multiple devices can increase. My brother asked me to get a 50 foot cord to hook up to mine because it can game better. Only issue is, he wants to use discord and other parts for his friend group, which caused it to go slow on his part.
    It also slows down for my case because, Fortnite for example, goes from 49-60 ping all the way up to 250 ping as least. When I reset it and test it’s speed on my ps4, it gets 800kps for downloads and 30kps for uploads.
    I feel it wouldn’t affect much, but I’m just curious on a perspective n how it goes for ya

    • @kelleytech
      @kelleytech  4 роки тому

      A wired connection is always going to be the best connection. Wi-Fi 6 is a great connection, you don't have to use this router but I do recommend a Wi-Fi 6 router. Wi-Fi 6 can handle multiple devices better than previous versions of Wi-Fi. Remember you can only go as fast as your internet speed. Hope this helps!

    • @juanmccoy3066
      @juanmccoy3066 2 роки тому

      Yeah so I got mine for fortnite too and idk if u solved this problem but for any lurkers out there just remember that no matter how good ur internet is. Using discord while u game is gonna fuck ur shit up, unless u connect ur phone to mobile data. In that case it's gonna eat up a LOT of data quickly.
      Personally I don't see the point of even using discord while ur gaming. Just call ur friends, I do. Put my phone on speaker. It's the same shit. Or go and get some headsets with mics for everyone. Even better.
      They built that feature for a very casual audience. If u want good ping and to actually get good at the game u should probably not use discord while ur gaming.
      This router might help u keep traffic steady (u can have like 25 devices running on wifi) but the 50ft cord is worth it. Cuz the wifi connection is going to slow down the more devices u have.
      Ur also going to want to go ahead and make the party leader whoever has the best internet and best router, and play on their closest server. Ideally u want ur friend group to all play and live on the same server. So if ur na west and ur friends are na east, and ur playing on their shit the internet gonna be slower.
      That's how it is when I play with my sis cuz she's a kid and insists on being leader cuz she thinks is special or something.

    when you say 'you can connect up to 16 devices', I assume you mean 16 devices using OFDMA technology, and NOT 16 wifi devices. Otherwise, this router would be useless in 2019. I have over 50 devices connected to my old netgear R7000 router, but it does appear to be struggling.
