I love that you speak about the importance of high quality materials. Hardly any UA-camrs talk about this. I try to only thrift natural fabrics, so I appreciate you sharing the material and brand of each item. Greetings from Ireland. ☘ 🙂
Thank you so much! I still believe in giving synthetic materials a second life through thrifting but I try to buy natural where I can. Thanks for watching 🥰
Uh yeah. This was your first video??? You were crazy comfortable with the camera! You got the goods girl. Keep on doing your thing. You will get tons of subscribers. Subscribed because I was born and raised in NY. Obsessed with both thrifting and interiors. Next video please!
White Stag was once THE sportswear brand. Never overlook thrifted items because of where they’re from. Bonus is they’re already washed and probably dried and are preshrunk.
Love your classic style Kathryn, which transcends across all age groups. Really enjoyed the fast pace, quirky haul style, so looking forward to more content! Love your dangled earrings. Can they be sourced? Best wishes to your channel!
Love your vibe. My age is way more redacted than yours, so I have lived through even more trends. It is wonderful and so interesting that we take from the past and still have all these incredible clothes around. Well American thrift shops are absolutely next level and we are benefiting from all those women who took good care of their clothes. My advice to all is to hang on to your really classic well made things, whether in style or not. B Jones will get pieces from the thrift and have a tailor suit them to her body, if the piece is worth it, a forever piece. I liked how you showed all the pieces of an outfit, with your thrifted item, very original. NY is oozing from your pores, love it, more, more.
23:35 I've always thought there was something secretly "cool" about White House Black Market. WHBM gets a "brand you might find in Mom's closet" reputation, but they actually have some pretty neat stuff if you like their aesthetic. I started wearing WHBM in college. As a trans woman who had to learn a lot about feminine fashion (and quickly) due to my transition, I found WHBM's aesthetic easy to work with; a lot of their clothes just match.
@@catdookie I remember when a younger woman told someone she bought some clothes at Chico's (one of WHBM's sister brands) on TikTok and how that went viral. Ironically, I still don't shop at Chico's, even as I love its sister brand WHBM. The brands have different aesthetics, and WHBM is more my aesthetic; not to mention, WHBM did traditionally target a (slightly) younger customer than Chico's. @CaseyBlake started wearing WHBM in high school, which I found quite surprising. Much like myself, Casey is trans; she started wearing WHBM as part of her transition, similar to myself. She hasn't posted to UA-cam in over 2 years, but she still says WHBM is one of her favorite brands over on Instagram. I remember the salespeople at one of my local WHBM boutiques said that they would occasionally have teenage girls come in, mainly to buy jeans, because they were one of the few brands to carry jeans in a particular small size. It's kind of cool to see younger generations focusing more on aesthetics, because this changes the picture of who "can" wear what style (age-wise). If your aesthetic draws you more towards classy and polished brands like WHBM, then that's what you feel drawn to wearing. I've always dressed "older" than my apparent age would suggest, at least since my transition. Classy and polished shouldn't mean that you're wearing "old lady clothes." I recently got chastised for "dressing like a 40 year-old woman" on Threads. That was more because the poster was transphobic, but 40 isn't old. Pretty soon I expect we will start seeing life-extension technology, and this will totally change our perceptions of age. Transhumanism, or the idea of using technology to overcome humanity's biological limitations and enhance our capabilities (to put it simply, to transcend the limits of humanity), is basically the gospel in elite tech circles. I know I went a little off topic there, but I hope you get my point about age, because it will really be nothing but a number within the next few decades if this kind of technology comes to fruition.
Just a year ago I was saying I'd never wear low rise again, someone please talk me out of tossing all my high waisted clothes, I'm obsessed with low rise AGAIN

Exactly! I think “mom’s closet” type brands have so much potential with what’s trendy right now too
