I have to admit I am pleasantly surprised at how well this works. If you have to lug a thickness planer around to use it, this might be a solution for you as well.
Thanks a lot for the shoutout Richard. You’ll absolutely love using the slide out. It’s the least used tool in my shop but just as convenient as any other.
Credit given where credit is earned! :-) I made a boat load of cutting boards for co=workers as Christmas gifts so I ended up using the planer plenty of times and it definitely came in handy!
Your comment is the greatest compliment to us. It means so much that we might have inspired someone to give it a try. We hope it works out for you and we would love to see how it turns out.
Love how this turned out! I was wondering how you were going to support the weight on the slide, and the wheels are genius. Really amazed at how smoothly this operates, as well as how perfectly it fits. Great job!
Thank you for the kind words. Keep this a secret but I had to take off the slides and redo things SEVERAL times but did not show on the video. LOL! The "perfect" fit was just by accident. :-)
We are sincerely pleased that you like the idea. If / when you do something for a planer, we would love to see because you have such clever space saving videos for your shop.

I need your plans Mr Poor Man. I have the same planer.

Good video. I like Scott Jordan's idea too. Ideas like that are a must for small shops
Totally agree!
I'll be incorporating something like this into my next mobile workbench for sure. Great idea!
I have no doubt you will make awesome improvements. Please add a pneumatic lift so I can upgrade ours.
@@Poor_Mans_DIY by the time I get around to owning a thicknesser I may need one 😅
Great solution! Very functional this way
Glad you think so! Have a Happy New Year!
Great addition to the workshop and if it saves your back than brilliant. Looks super solid and smooth as well.
Thanks 👍 It has come in handy so many times now. I am actually upset that I didnt do it sooner. LOL
That was such a great idea!
Saves your back for sure.
I do have to lean over to use it but it is better than trying to lift that beast. LOL. Have a Merry Christmas!
Nice job!!! Simple and effective, shop efficiency and back saving has to be one of the best projects to do in a shop. Love it 👏🏻
Thank you!!!!! This definitely helped this old man. I have made use of it on numerous occassion already!!
Great idea and execution! I'm sure it makes using the planer so much easier!
