  • Asami Sato's Act of Forgiveness. Asami Sato is a driven inventor, with a successful business. She’s a skilled fighter and the voice of reason for Korra’s Team Avatar. However, there is way more to Asami Sato than just being a support for her team. Her character arc tells us the important lesson of forgiveness. Throughout her tale, there are three different people that Asami has to forgive to grow more confident within herself. Today, we're exploring Asami's character arc more in an in-depth understanding of the act of forgiveness.

Forgiveness is easier said than done for sure. I'm grateful for the Legend of Korra, for having a character that can teach us such an important skill! What other Korra characters should I make a video about? Hope you're having a great day =)

Asami was my favorite character and I wish they had more of her and less of some of the other jokey side characters. She was so well written but then just left out or barely there for long stretches.

I do wish we saw more of her building up her company in books two and three. However, I still like how they subtly made her more confident as the books went on. In my eyes, she truly is the glue that holds Korra's Team Avatar together.

The theme of Forgiveness continues into the comic “Ruins of the Empire” where Asmai tries to forgive Kuvira for killing her dad. In the end she says that she can’t really forgive her but she’s grateful for Kuviras help and that she’ll try to make an effort. On a personal note I’m not the biggest fan of ROTE, mainly due to Kuviras story. It’s not that Kuvira redemption could of never worked, but if they wanted to go that rout they shouldn’t of had her operating concentration camps and basically make her into hitler.

Asami does develop a lot, even if it is subtle. I think that's why I enjoy her character so much! I hope one day she'll be able to forgive Varrick.

True. Thats a writing mistake. I guess they went into season 4 halfway and then realize they havent made the villain "villainous" enough by having them voicing several actually valid point, but story conventions demand we must take down the villain during a final battle. So they fell back on nazi parrellels

This Girl had literally every reason to become a bad guy. Her mom was killed by benders, Her father tried to kill her and her friends, her boyfriend treated her like crap and was in love with someone else, they break up, get back together, then breakup again because Mako still hasn’t grown a pair, etc.
At least she got her happy ending in the end :)

You are right, everything works against her. But it is kind of impressive that she isn't tempted by the dark side. She picks her up and works through it.

Hey I loved your video and deep dive in to Asami's character, most of the time she's super overlooked but she has so many important lessons that we can all connect with and learn from. At least in my own personal life I know she inspires me after such a tragic life to keep hustling for a brighter tomorrow. Both Asami and Katara have some parallels. However, I don't think it's fair to judge that one is better than the other. Both have different personal journeys that help them learn to forgive. That's kind of like comparing apples to oranges.

I would love for Asami to have an arc where she has to forgive herself for something like Zuko did (I’m assuming you’ve already seen the the whole ATLA series if you’re watching videos on TLOK but if you haven’t don’t click “Read More” unless you’ve seen ATLA through The Day of Black Sun) after he believed his sister when she pretended to want to take him back to their father with the honor from having eliminated the Avatar.
