I was born 1980 and growing up I love classic oldies music. Nowadays music has changed and I feel like it will never be the same as it was generations ago. Still I'm truly happy good music is still around.
Some folks make songs to be in with the times, BUT others create songs that are timeless 💎 Thank you Brenda, Jeff Hull, Scott Cutler (songwriters), and Joe Esposito (backing vocals) for creating this gem.
For me it was the 60's starting things off. Motown then the Beatles opened the doors to all sorts of sound. It also brought out compassion, recognizing we're all in this together. Marches, protests, sit-ins, many tragic but it made people open up and care more. Music heals. Listen to the music, make some of your own. Make your voice heard. Less electronic distractions so you can Live life! 😅😊🎶
When this song came out.. it was paralleling our wedding in 1988... Even though it wasn't in our ceremony we considered it our song.. the beautiful vocals.. that unforgettable single key piano sound in the background... I've kept it with me and held it close all.these years. my wife passed away last year of cancer... One of the things she loved was having a soundtrack.. to listen to.. and of course she listened to this one many times in the final week... It's gut wrenching listening to it now... But I feel I owe it to her to keep it in my life.. thank you Brenda Russell for this masterpiece
Give yourself some time to heal my brother, you'll eventually be able to listen wit ease, your story reminds me of when I lost three siblings who attended elementary school with me, they were all murdered by their uncle in 1984, at that time Jeffrey Osborne had a hit single " We're going all the way" at that time, and for years I could not listen to that song up until 10 years ago, they still come to mind when I hear it but it doesn't hurt as much , time heals all wounds.
A truly wonderful vocal artist who is undervalued and appreciated. She possesses a beautiful voice and sings songs with meaningful lyrics that always evoke and capture vivid visual images.
The summer in 1988 I heard this a lot on the radio. I would turn up the volume up. This song til this day touches my heart. Its a part of my teen years.

This song still has all the magic I felt the first time I heard it 33 years ago. And the girl is the real definition of soul. The original, the classy, the one and only............The beautiful Brenda Russell.
I agree...her voice so very Awesome! I was in a big disco in late 80's (the Crystal in Cancun)..her song n video came on..the whole place came to a standstill...we were all mesmerized by her performance!!

Born in '82... This is another one of those timeless classics I remember hearing as a kid. - February 2023
I’m listening to Brenda Russell Piano In The Dark mid May 2023!Born in 1985
I was born 1980 and growing up I love classic oldies music. Nowadays music has changed and I feel like it will never be the same as it was generations ago. Still I'm truly happy good music is still around.
Takes me back to smooth jazz. Brenda is so underrated. Brilliant song writer and singer...Thank you Brenda!
Some folks make songs to be in with the times, BUT others create songs that are timeless 💎 Thank you Brenda, Jeff Hull, Scott Cutler (songwriters), and Joe Esposito (backing vocals) for creating this gem.
Woke up wanting to hear this song... went to bed listening to this song.
Juliano Tonalli great day for you 💕 🐨

Cadê os brasileiros que gostam de ouvir uma boa música internacional da década de 80??😉😉😉
Aqui.....✌😎😁
Mas uma aqui! 😘
Encontrou mais um aqui 😆👍

For me it was the 60's starting things off. Motown then the Beatles opened the doors to all sorts of sound. It also brought out compassion, recognizing we're all in this together. Marches, protests, sit-ins, many tragic but it made people open up and care more. Music heals. Listen to the music, make some of your own. Make your voice heard. Less electronic distractions so you can Live life! 😅😊🎶
damn the 80s were so good. this is real music.
Everyone has their own tastes in music, but I'm into the entire 20th century.
Your right
@Digby Dooright Really. They did suck
They are still making good music! Just listen.

Timeless. This song was released February 1988, 33 years ago. Unbelievable.
I was 11 yrs old in the 6th grade and that timetable is certainly spot on in my memory bank.
I was 7, in Junior School.... You are right though, it's timeless.
My birth month and year 👀👀 amazing
Wow I was in 8th grade❤️
Beautiful tune indeed
When this song came out.. it was paralleling our wedding in 1988... Even though it wasn't in our ceremony we considered it our song.. the beautiful vocals.. that unforgettable single key piano sound in the background... I've kept it with me and held it close all.these years. my wife passed away last year of cancer... One of the things she loved was having a soundtrack.. to listen to.. and of course she listened to this one many times in the final week... It's gut wrenching listening to it now... But I feel I owe it to her to keep it in my life.. thank you Brenda Russell for this masterpiece
😢❤
Linda historia 😊❤❤❤❤

One of the most beautiful, underrated song and female artist. I wore this classic song out on my Sony Walkman.
The summer in 1988 I heard this a lot on the radio. I would turn up the volume up. This song til this day touches my heart. Its a part of my teen years.
It's so true..part of my teenage years as well
I was 14 in the Summer of 1988, right before I started high school. That year was so hot, but it was fun and this song played all the time. So many memories
I was 28 years old love the 80s.
@@paisleyprincess7996, same here. I was the same age, also going into HS. ANd yes, it was a very hot Summer. I was living in NYC , at the time. No longer there!!

This song is as old as me, but unlike me, this song didn’t age. A true classic
To be fair 33 years old is not old whatsoever. 43 maybe...
Me to I'm 45, I remember this on the old radio. Lol
Love this song
This song brings back so many memories from my childhood. 1985-1990 was a great time for this type of music.

I heard her perform this live in the year 2000 with Michael McDonald. I can't tell you how excited I was when she sang the first few notes. The music goes through your soul..
I love you.. wise beyond your years
a golden treasure from 1988 , a great song from an era when real music was played on the radio
Singers were unique and when you heard one you knew exactly who it was unlike today where they all sound the same
Ha! I know almost all 80s songs. I was trying to figure out why I didn't remember this one... It's because it came out the year I was born lol😂🎉❤

Ummmmm, no. Michael McDonald isn’t singing on this record. The background vocals are being provided by Joe Esposito.
