Me who never finshed but started Morrowind: Ahh vivecs most loyal disciple reading his most favorite book about his most beloved godman. How wholesome chungus :D
Its crazy how the 36 Lessons of Vivec sound so much like H.P. Lovecraft's work. I heard the deep folk of Dagon and I was like "wait a second what video am I listening to again?"
I just realized Dagoth Ur might be calling Nerevar (and the Nerevarine) "Moon and Star" because they're disciples of Azura. The Lady of Dawn & Dusk (the sun and moon)
Or because he wears (and can be identified by) the Ring of the Ancestors, also known as One-Clan-Under-Moon-And-Star, which was blessed by Azura so that only Nerevar (or his Incarnate) may wear it. But that ring was likely forged to resemble a moon and star (and also named such) BECAUSE he was the Champion of Azura, so you're still right. :)
Extracting meaning from the 36 lessons is the same as extracting meaning from real religious texts. Write it down yourself. Then take metaphors and other unclear language and rephrase them Make a bullet point list of things that happen. Now try to take a truth from what you just deconstructed
Okay but what's up with Vivec and the egg? Is Vivec carrying the egg with him, is he the egg? Is he born or still "in the netcheman's wife" while he's receiving these lessons on "the movements of the bone" from these spirits? If Vivec is the egg, how would he be preaching about love to the dwarves, or joking with gods or demons, whatever? I swear it's like Bethesda required all the Morrowind lore writers to be perpetually on hallucinogenics throughout the entire development process
SsethTzeentach said as much about the lore writer in his Morrowind review though that's alleged and denied,. But also yeah I'm pretty sure he was still in the egg

"Truth is like my husband: instructed to smash"
Nice
Can’t wait for the Dagoth Ur commentary track on this one.
you have to wonder what the netchiman was doing the entire time his wife was going through a fucked up alice-in-wonderland event.
it’s still crazy that someone got paid to write ALL OF THIS for secret texts in a video-game
Crowley, Lovecraft, Kirkbride
Kirkbride laughing at the idea he did it because he got paid :
was about to comment something similar lmao

It reminds me of H.P. Lovecraft’s Dream Cycle, or the works of Lord Dunsany.
@@willowdelosrios4326 it wouldn't surprise me, there's quite a few references to Lovecraft's work in Bethesda's games.

Oh hey he's back to his home province after visiting the dreamquesr of unknown kadath
That voice is simply enchanting
I don’t think dagoth would agree but I for one enjoy this very much.
I want whatever vivec was on when he wrote this. Holy fuck.

How much moon sugar and skooma was consumed in the authoring of these sermons? Thank you for making this!
It might as well be titled "Vivec's Allegorical Sex Pest-Ventures." Half of it's just about his weird degenerate fantasies and him graping folks.
@@chriskaplan6109 yes
Does this include Sermon 37?
Okay I really don't think I'm understanding lesson 14. It's not what it sounds like, right? 🤔
