Princess Beatrix will become Queen again in fullness of time! There is no room for two Heads of State in one Kingdom! Naturally the Prinses retains the love and respect of her people!

Many cultures continue to use the Queen title for a retired sovereign or widowed consort. It gets complicated in that Queen Noor no longer lives in Jordan so as not to confuse issues with Queen Rania who is the King's consort. In Britain they established the title of Queen Mother. Of course, Beatrix had been sovereign, so is this why she returns to the Princess title? I do understand that Duchess, Princess and Queen are all known as princely titles. I suppose Dowager Queen is not a possibility for a retired sovereign who remains involved?
It’s custom, none of the former monarchs in the Netherlands (William I, Wilhelmina, Juliana) kept their regal title. Dowager Queen would suggest she is so since her husband died. Queen-Emerita was a suggestion which I think could have been suitable.

I realize just retaining the Queen title creates confusion for some and Dowager Queen suggests a dead sovereign spouse. Queen Mother might seem to be plagiarizing from the British. Queen Emerita might work, though all the dukedom, principality, and kingdom titles are known in English as princely titles.

Beatrix cannot be called "Dowager Queen" even though her husband Claus died because she abdicated the Dutch throne to King Willem-Alexander or Willem IV. Also it is not appropriate to call her "Queen Emerita"due to the fact that Emeritus and Emerita are used mostly academically either in colleges or universities. The right choice as a title for Beatrix is surely "Queen Mother" since King Willem-Alexander is her son.

In the Netherlands when you abdicate you lose your title as Queen. Thats why she is called Princess Beatrix. Her son is now the King.
