I've almost ditched my washing machine since buying one of these , its amazing , its almost, in 3 months paid for itself in saved money on detergent and energy and takes no time at all for domestic washing if you throw your clothes in everyday and my white shirts look incredible , its really funny and a bit sad to read the comments from the people that haven't got the balls to try something different and haven't ever used one of these. Good work in creating this guys and best wishes for the future success.
I've washed towels in it , you probably couldn't do bed sheets though ,the thing is just use it to wash everyday in small amounts , I was so impressed with the results I bought another , the first one has now definitely paid for itself though in saved energy bills
Frequent travellers (of which I am one!) will love you for this - what a brilliant solution! I've had that awful realisation of no clean pants and no launderette for miles, and this would've been massively useful to have stashed in the bottom of my pack. I've already signed up for mine - can't wait til they ship! So pleased that you've already trebled your goal on indiegogo. Goes to show that you can't keep a good idea down.
Hi Phil, thanks for the comment about the ingenuity of the bag. The actual price for the Scrubba wash bag when pre ordered through IndieGoGo is US$40 (+$7 shipping outside Australia): The $170 price is an editorial error by Gizmodo. Unfortunately it is not very good publicity for the Scrubba wash bag.
Thanks for watching our video. The key difference between the Scrubba wash bag and a normal plastic bag is the flexible internal washboard. Similar to the old fashion washboard, our washboard accelerates the washing process but is also incredibly flexible and compact (and self-contained) making it suitable for travel.
what was $40 is now I guess $64.95--that's too bad--I liked the idea--looked like it might be better than using an Ortlieb folding bowl for washing laundry.....
So you're telling me this can do in 30-40 seconds what took women a hundred years ago an entire day to do? And how is it really any different from throwing my clothes in a bucket of soapy water and beating them with a stick? Being mushed around in a bag isn't quite the same as making sure each article of clothing actually reaches the scrubbers. Why didn't you show us the clothes at the end? I call BS on all claims (except for the "without paying for laundry" part).
Need another six liters of water for the rinse and to empty and refill the bag for rinsing. He actually says something like, "your traveling companions will appreciate your nicely smelling of what ever soap product you used". That means, he doesn't understand the concept of rinsing. After washing clothes ought to smell of nothing, not of soap. (In the washing machine clothes may smell of perfume, if it is specifically added (softener) in the final rinse.)
So; I *have* to ask.... Could you not do this with any heavy duty plastic bag, water, and detergent? Maybe fold over the ends and use a 'chip-clip' etc ? I like the idea, but this IS, essentially, just a fairly expensive watertight bag. Also, Amazon sells collapsible buckets for a lot less that would let you hand wash your clothes...
Hi Mr Mack - thanks for the comment, however, you may have missed a few of the other, more important elements in the bag, such as the internal flexible washboard. You can find out more here - www.thescrubba.com/pages/using-your-scrubba
Tan facil que es lavar a mano como lavaba mi abuela antes de que existieran las lavadoras y estos tipos lo complican vendiendo una bolsa para hacer lo mismo. Seguramente queda mejor lavada la ropa a mano sin una bolsa que estorbe
not only is it just a water proof bag but i can get one just like it for $22 oh and its been around for years at rei its called a dry bag and they're generally used for keeping water out.
This is just a drybag. All campers, cavers and kayakers know what a drybag is. If you are claiming this as an invention or innovation and applied for patent you can apply for house keys to scartch itchy body parts as well. The technique is smart but trying to sell it as an innovation is dumb. I have been doing this to my small scuba gear (knives, masks, computers, lights etc.) almost since I have started.

Similar to the old fashion washboard, our washboard accelerates the washing process but is also incredibly flexible and compact (and self-contained) making it suitable for travel. To enable the Scrubba wash bag to withstand exposure to water and cleaning liquids on the inside, we also had to upgrade all the materials (we are using a polyether urethane, which most dry bags don't use). You can see images of the internal washboard at our website (thescrubba.com). Cheers
Scrubba wash bag Sorry i did not see the small round dots inside. Though I have to see it on my own. I will be in ispo munich see you there and good luck
I cannot believe such a ridiculous bag exists. Not enough space, not enough soap, and certainly not enough agitation needed to push the soap and water through the clothes effectively. Those clothes must still be rank and filthy. Get a proper washboard, wash tub, and some buckets for water for the washing and rinsing.

Bridge26 whats the biggest article of clothing that you have washed in the scrubba bag??
I've washed towels in it , you probably couldn't do bed sheets though ,the thing is just use it to wash everyday in small amounts , I was so impressed with the results I bought another , the first one has now definitely paid for itself though in saved energy bills

Melbourne's such a beautiful city in the summertime. Grey overcast skies, concrete housing commission flats in the background.

Just did a two part review and test for this on my channel for one week of using it and it is bloody brilliant mate! love mine!
I had one of these for a few years and it really washes my clothes completely clean , very good invention
Thanks Good Evening!
This is an incredible invention! I see myself using this on any outdoor hike.
I must invest in one. very handy for vacation where you can't wash your stuff in the hotel 👍
Good for camping
Nicely done Ash. When can we get one in the UK?
What about the soap residue?
For me it is like putting clothes in a plastic bag, put water and soap, deal and start smashing randomly just this one the bag looks sophisticated

Would this work with washing powder as well? As in, would the powder dissolve?
Wondering about how sanitary this is. If you can't get the water hot, then you aren't sanitizing them and killing dust mites, etc.
Sure thing bro, I too take my washing machine with me when camping/ hiking.
Hate getting my hands full of clothe soap. It leaves your skin wrinkled n smelling bad' This is da perfect solution'

does it work ?
Can u wash a jeans with that bag. ?
+Otto Bismarck 2.0 Why would you use this to wash jeans when you arent supposed to wash jeans except a couple of times a year
LOLOL
nice! and the washer boy nicer
How do you wash the bag? ;D
Question is how do you dry them in harse conditions
Thanks for the question - what do you mean by 'harsh'?
I'll take 3
where can i get 6 liters of clean water, when i'm in the bush?
What do you need to wash when you are in the bush?
In a city you can use a laundromat to wash far more for far, far cheaper.

I love the ingenuity of the bag but 170 dollars is incredibly expensive.
there is no way you would ever get your clothes rinsed in that bag.

I really like this product but I have to be honest.... I found myself staring at you more than the bag.
Personally I think it's still an epic fail if you can even wash your jeans in those little suckers.
what is this ? 1857 ? i have to wash my clothes by myself ? i have to rub my cloths and waste my time on simple task that can be done by a machine ?
Great for homeless people ^.^

too expensive for just a glorified bag, $30 is a fair price
Guy is nervous. I can't imagine why, he isn't in front of anyone but the cameraman..
