The show also explain a lot of techniques that aren't important to understand the idea. Everything has a name, Ken, Gyo, Ryu, etc... In the end it's just using less or more energy, in a more concentrated or wide area, the more energy and smaller the area, the more powerful. The name you call it is just a detail you don't need to remember to understand.
Extra quick info: it is possible to create a Hatsu (ability) that is not of your natural nen type. however, it is seen as a bad idea and a waste of your potential (Kastro is an unfortunate example of this). On the other hand, it is seen as good idea to practice nen types that are close to your natural type as they can improve your overall nen capacity. Gyo: is a technique that allows you to see the aura of others, because aura is normally invisible to the naked eye. How to gain learn nen: There two methods to learn nen, A- Ten meditation: with constant practice that takes a long time, you learn to control your natural nen organically. B- Nen Baptism: by being attacked(or submerged) with Aura your own Aura begins to awake in response and you must control it. This method is very risky and is frowned upon. "questionable facts": the rest of this information below is dubious since it came from Pokkle: Your preference for nen types affects your nen potential , If you are naturally an enhancer but wish you were a conjurer your nen would be fragmented between the two thus not allowing you to reach your maximum potential with either.
thats not quite why what kastro did is a bad idea and Bisky even notes that its ideal to train up your adjacent categories. Kastros problem was that he chose a very significantly taxing ability on top of it being opposite from his best proficiency. Those things combined meant it was super taxing. But having minor abilities in every category probably would not be.

This is a really good explanation, you should do a second part about dual nen affinities, Togashi revealed that some characters actually have a dual affinity, for instance Killua is now a Transmuter-Enhancer instead of JUST a Transmuter. These changes are all straight from Togashi and I love the changes, I feel they make nen so much more nuanced, you should definitely look into it!

You're wrong about the last thing. Everyone can use every Nen type, but not efficiently. A enhance uses conjuration at 60% efficient for example. Kurapika is the only one that uses 100% of everything, using his specialist hatsu for that. Its not something that happens to every specialist. There's a few more details on this in the manga, I'm not listing everything here, but basically, he pays a cost for being able to use everything at full power.
that's not true for specialist. Its not confirmed if specialist follow the distribution pattern or if each specialist has a unique distribution. ET Makes kurapika go beyond the normal efficiencies as a conjurer, but kurapika is still subject to levels of techniques as a conjurer. Meaning if both kurapika and perfect conjurer were to use the same level enhancement move at their max level(6) their efficiency would be 60% however if kurapika was in emperor time he would be using a lvl 6 ability at 100% efficiency as if he was a natural in that category. But kurapika can never learn a lvl 7 enhancement technique. The only heavily assumed specialist that can use all nen types is chrollo. He either has max level and max efficiency being a natural specialist, Or has his own distribution but when using a stolen ability gains the required level and efficiency to use it. But every nen user can use all nen categories and most have abilities that have multiple.
>also: every specialist can use all nen types not just kurapika, his emperor time makes him a specialist so he can use all the types this is bs, only kurapika can use all types efficiently with emperor time
@@neonblood4658 No. anyone that can use nen can use any of the five types of nen. If you are an enhancer you can still use conjuration ability and conjuration skills. However you have a maximum level and efficiency you can obtain based on your category. ET allows kurapika to get perfect efficiency but is still subject to max level as a conjurer. aka kurapika can never learn a lvl 10 enhancement technique. But a lvl 6 enhancement technique he can learn and use at max efficiency as if he was a natural enhancer. This something a normal conjurer could never do no matter how hard they train they could at the peak of training only ever use lvl6 and below techniques at 60% efficiency.
