If you haven't already get a ferret finder. I don't put a ferret down without a collar on. After that make sure you net all holes including bolt hole, put ferret in one of the main holes and wait.
Thanks for that I wasn’t planning on putting a collar on him etc as his previous owner never did over 20 times out ferreting n he always came back out but if you think it’s for the best then I will get the finder and collar
@@ryang7579 your ferret will always come back out at some point. Just depends how long you want to sit and wait. I personally won't wait for a ferret to give up on a rabbit/s it has backed up or that are sitting tight. I will dig them out, without a collar and finder you can't do that. So as far as I'm concerned you could be missing out on rabbits that are refusing to bolt. In the last 5 or 6 years I've dug over 300 rabbits so it makes perfect sense to me

How do they kill them? I'm having a hard time imagining a little ferret, even two of them killing a much bigger rabbit. Heart attack? Also, when you say "lost 2" do you mean you lost 2 ferrets? Or 2 rabbits got away?

The dig wasn't too bad it's all sand and only about 3' deep (had worse lol) and worth it for 3 rabbits.

How are they dead before they come out sometimes? Do the ferrets kill them?
Yes. there was 2 ferrets down at the same time and they were both on the same rabbit and killed it. It's not very often it happens to be honest.
