- In this video we spend our last day at our Mogollan Rim camp above Payson, Arizona. We head into the town of Payson to shower and end up parking for the night at the Mazatzal Casino right in Payson. The $2 hot shower was just what we needed after a week camping in below freezing temps. Also an update on the January 2022 Quartzsite Meet Up. It will be Jan. 16th-23rd in Quartzsite, Arizona. This is our first time RVing on a trip of more than 5 days; we have been on the road for 3 1/2 weeks. Left the east coast of Canada and we are now in Arizona. Would love to get together with fellow RVers and learn and build some connections. Yours was one of the first full time rv living channels I watched a few years back.

That is a place you want to visit in the summer time, when the temperature in the lower elevations is blazing hot, and it is quite comfortable there. It will be busier, but also a lot more enjoyable.

Sedona is a nice stop if you can route through there. Oak Creek is where I camped on the North side if I remember right, (been 25 years since then).

It's always nice when the sun is shining! I only see the sun three times a year where I live.
I go up to Ruidoso once in awhile for the trees and mountains better than El Paso where you work! Used to want to Rv 6 months in summer there when I retired and then Tor C for winter but would have used hook up sites and the cost plus RV too much! Probably just look for the right mountain climate with enough moisture to live year round! Payson nice too just can not stand Phoenix! Looking at upper rockies Colorado, Wyoming and Montana with Black hills at top of list with the rain amount thanks to drought and wildfires! Enjoy it while you can hope you have plans for when you can no longer be a nomad!

Brian, I'm so glad that you will be in Quartzite. It does get cold there too, though. I was wondering if you might be interested in upgrading Kelly's Wave 3 heater to the Chinese diesel heater. I had the Wave 3, it doesn't do the job well because you have to keep some windows open while in use. Maybe, you could get her the Chinese heater for Christmas and install it for her. Hugs. P.S. Some of us would be glad to donate $$ for her heater upgrade. Just let us know.

I have a 2021 high top extended Transit. I don’t have the solar panels yet. The only thing I’ve bought are 3 Battle Born 100 amp hr batteries. I was hoping to to have 600 watts of solar, a 3000 watt inverter, a shore power plug and the ability for alternator charging.
@@paulinemiller4624 Sounds like a great start. The Transit is the platform I would buy if I were going the van route. I have liked the folks at Discount Solar in Quartzite. They should be able to set you up with whatever else you need for your system. Also, the ACE in town is a good source for other Installation components. I don't know how much extra time I will have but will help what I can. I suppose tune into my channel and you'll know when I get there and what I'm up to. Make arrangements then.
Glad you were able to make it to Arizona to enjoy the views and some snow on the Mogollon Rim (my favorite camping destination from home near Phoenix), and make plans to stay a while in the desert in Quartzsite (a good winter camping destination). Any of those "-erto's" restaurants offer really good food, especially for breakfast (Steak Ranchero is really delicious and so are the Chorizo burritos). I won't be in Quartzsite during your event to meet you, but, still want to wish you and Kelly a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Pete - KI7LIL

Heading that way now as currently at a rest stop on Hwy 10 about 50 miles to the Arizona border. When you know where your meet up will be I can bring some firewood.

You picked a great time to be on the rim. We were there earlier this year and it was so windy no one was camping on the rim like you guys. We found a great spot back in the forest but we were bummed that the rim was so inhospitable.
The meet-up dates will work perfect for our trip from Tucson to San Diego. We'll definitely be seeing ya!
