1-never retreat, always move forward and give zero room like with Johnson/Barbosa or
2-he has to tuck in his chin a bit, when he moves back ...there’s opportunity there. Though I seriously doubt he’d fight Conor or Tony with the same formula. It almost looked like he was just working on his standup game and toying with Al.

Very true. Funnily, McGregor in his prime actually had a similar mindset, fighting in 3 weight classes, fighting Chad on 2 weeks notice with a torn ACL, fighting at welterweight 11 days before he was meant to fight for the lightweight championship and he declared if the UFC allowed he would go through everyone in the lightweight division in four months during the RDA promotion.
Before all the animosity between them it's always noticeable to me how alike McGregor and Khabib were, both in terms of their skillset being leagues above the rest (Conor's striking and fight IQ, Khabib's wrestling, cardio and pressure), their championship mentality and how they both knew the other would get the belt, Khabib supporting this with Conor at featherweight and Conor supporting this with Khabib at lightweight even back in 2015.
