The creativity over at Remedy is seriously unmatched. Also the end with Alan doing that polite cat meme face and Rose being absolutely covered in blood had me rolling.
I love that Alan Wake 1&2, Control etc CLEARLY take inspiration from Twin Peaks, but they very much have different things to talk about and say, so it makes them distinct. It ensures that they stand on their own two feet.
I have a feeling he gonna love this one. It's so goofy in all the right ways. Shame he haven't played Quantum Break yet, that last chapter hits so much harder if you know what happened in QB.
Quantum Break especially, though I do enjoy how they're not even trying to be subtle with that game being part of their multidimensional story-verse. Like, they're doing everything they possibly can without actually saying the characters' names. It's like how the first season of Ash v. the Evil Dead did everything it could to incorporate Army of Darkness into its story without specifically mentioning the events of the film before they obtained the rights to it in the next season.
Mapo reading that entire chapter like it was a Max Payne cutscene.👌🏻And the VAs, too, sounded like they were having a lot of fun recording these lines - after all, it's not always you get to say "And my motorcycle is also a werewolf!" This oddly made me wish for a full-length Remedy game like this, with a protagonist so delirious, it'll put Alice in Wonderland to shame.
So glad you're getting around to this; I've been looking forward to it! Played it ASAP and absolutely adored it with every fiber of my being. This episode was a damn fever dream in the best way possible; just so wacky and ridiculous and unabashedly fun. I want whatever Rose is on. Her shotgun is incredible, the rose tint over everything is gorgeous and perfectly sets the tone, the insanity of Scratch (and his motorcycle!) being a werewolf and him turning on his batman voice for her is hilarious. Being in fandom I've seen the fanart and loved the silliness of Alan with cat ears and a crop top; it's just perfect. This was my second favorite episode of the DLC; you can tell the writers had the time of their lives coming up with this stuff, and the VA's also put so much into their performances too. Glad you saw some of the writing in the town before getting to the boat yard too. Most people miss almost all of it, which is a shame because there's a ton of stuff on buildings that is such a nice touch.
@@SkeleTonHammer The writing itself is funny but you're right that dialog like this could've been awkward without a really talented VA. Matthew Porretta is a legend and has pretty unparalleled delivery so this isn't surprising, but he makes everything good. For playing such a moody character he absolutely has amazing comedic tendencies.
@@thirdcoinedge Oh, of course. Darling is one of my main reasons for loving control and he's charming as hell in that role. He definitely has range too.
for anyone who likes this or Twin Peaks I would recommend playing Deadly Premonition which is basically the unofficial Twin Peaks video game. I've never played Alan Wake before but the Night Springs trailer got my attention so I will be checking these out
love to hear you went through Twin Peaks brother!! those Angelo Badalamenti soundtracks get me so emotional and i swear it’s even better on rewatch knowing what you know from The Return. i highly recommend True Detective SEASON 1 (anthology show) because that inspired Alan Wake 2 a lot as well, it’s only 8 episodes so whenever your sched allows it you will be in for a ride
I've also watched Twin Peaks after Alan Wake 2 and it instantly became one of my favourite TV shows of all time. There is some stuff I didn't enjoy that much but it's still an amazing piece of art. Really made me fall in love with the mystery and surrealism of David Lynchs work. While there isn't as much mystery in this particular episode of Night Springs, it's just a lot of fun. And the dialogue is very well written and hilarious at the same time.
Don’t forget some readable prompts can be interacted with. You almost missed the first one but it was mandatory. There was one on the Alex Casey novel that had additional dialogue and an achievement. Just keep an eye out!
Guess I'm a little late, but just wanted to tell you you missed an hilarious letter from Alan to his brother on the ground floor of the house (and another award on the wall).
As a huge Alan Wake fan I will say that I was disappointed with this DLC. I’m too spoiled by FromSoft’s DLC’s and the recent RE4 Remake DLC. These hour long episodes just don’t do it for me, albeit I did get a few laughs and smiles out of Rose’s chapter just because of how goofy she is.
Don't worry, I think the Lake House DLC might be more extensive with what it has to offer, especially concerning what exactly happened to the FBC staff there.
"My motorcycle is also a werewolf" is going to live in my head rent free forever

The other name for the North star is Polaris. The entity that guided Jesse in control
Oh my god, the "rose-tinted glasses", that's amazing.

This is absolutely brilliant! Remedy needs to get full control of both Max Payne and Quantum Break again. Chef's kiss.

I like to think those zombies are actually just ATF agents trying to arrest her for putting a switch on that shotgun

Also, "I'm just a frail writer and require aid" is one of the best lines in anything eve... I'm obsessed.

You should also look up Fire Walk With Me. Also have you played the final draft yet? There’s a new beginning and ending.
Ayyy let's gooooo! I was wondering when you'd upload the dlc :)
let's gooo I've been waiting for this :D
Joe Bullets (from the book) felt VERY Vinnie Gognitti-coded lol
this feels like a fever dream

I'm not sure if anyone else already pointed this out, but you did miss something you could read on the first floor of the mansion near the end
Gotta love how they used the negative reviews Alan Wake received and put it as dialogue for the army of Haters. 😂😂
i feel like this is someone who seeing the world from a very warped perseption of reality 🤭
Ah, if only Rose wore glasses we could have a new Object of Power or an Altered Item, "Rose-tinted glasses".
I swear Mapo, you’re cursed with always getting bugs I’ve never seen lol, you somehow didn’t get the Rose dialogue lines after leaving the boatyard😅
IM COMPLICATEDDE
Damn, Will Hurt is a better name than Alex Casey.
Guess I'm a little late, but just wanted to tell you you missed an hilarious letter from Alan to his brother on the ground floor of the house (and another award on the wall).
This DLC was great but way too short.
