    Imagine being only 18 or 19 and having Arms and Forearms
    like Casey Viator.

    I met Chris in 1994 and joined him in a strenuous training session at a NYC gym. He was an extremely nice man with great perspective. Excellent video, John.

      I think you're referring to Gold's Gym in Midtown Manhattan. That's where I met him too. I was so excited when he came there and started training people. Super nice and respectful guy.

    Chuck Amato was my bodybuilding mentor. He put on contests in Portland and always gave the best trophies.

    Chris was an awesome bodybuilder and by all accounts an even better human being. R.I.P

    I remember leaving the 1981 Mr.Olympia in Columbus with my 2 weightlifting partners all 3 of us believing Chris Dickinson should have won . We had a good time at our first Olympia with the exception of a guy behind us kept screaming that Hubert Metz was not in the top five. Great video!

    To me it seems like the greatest times in bodybuilding began in the late 60's and went up into the early 80's with the 70's being the absolute best of it all.

    The explosion of Viator on the bodybuilding scene.... The year Arthur Jones "discovered ,lol" Casey. He claimed he built Viator's physique although this Mr A would show Casey was a monster.....This was a great time to be a young bodybuilding fan !

      Yes it was a great time and I wish they still printed bodybuilding magazines although they probably wouldn't be as interesting as the classics.

    Well done video. (A bit of squinting on your presentation). Nice to see these photos, from my era. Most fans today seem unaware of the overall judging picture (personality,education, lifting ability etc..) thanks for your channel-hope you get many more well deserved views ! 👏🏽

    This is very interesting, please don't stop! It's sad you don't have a larger audience but hopefully this could be an eye opener of what bodybuilding should be and how badly wrong is the direction it's heading today (actually for the past 30 years or so)

    I don't know about Chris Dickerson being the first black Mr. America because n 1964 Harold Poole became the first African-American to be named IFBB Mr. America.

    • @naturalolympia
      @naturalolympia  Місяць тому +5

      That’s why it says he was the first African American to win the AAU Mr America

    • @daveconleyportfolio5192
      @daveconleyportfolio5192 Місяць тому +5

      IFBB in 1964 was still pretty much a regional organization centered around Weider operations on the East Coast, kind of like Dan Lurie's WBBG. The AAU title was the national standard and a ticket to competing in the NABBA Mr. Universe.

      @AngelOliva302 Місяць тому +1

      @@naturalolympia John, with all due respect I do understand about the AAU part but in every interview that I have seen from Dickerson he always claims to be the (first black Mr. America) but never mentioned the AAU - I do believe that Harold Poole deserves much credit for that title due to all the racism that was going on back in 1964 more than in 1970. No matter what organization Mr. Poole was actually the first Black Mr. America on record. - But I do respect everyone's opinion on this.

    • @AngelOliva302
      @AngelOliva302 Місяць тому

      @@daveconleyportfolio5192 Sorry friend, nothing regional about the IFBB in 1964 - Larry Scott had to win the 1964 IFBB Mr. Universe in order for him to compete in the Mr. Olympia in 1965 which he won. The IFBB was already big.
