She & Dodi didn't have a lifetime together, but from what we were told and all of the pics we saw of them together, they both were head over heels for each other. Every move must be on time - even their Police escorts waiting outside for their exit, later on, are timed to the second!
Sometimes, as here, other guests ( or the hosts) engage them in conversation for a bit too long - so William was aware they needed to move on and attempted to give Kate a gentle touch to alert her ( without rudely interrupting her) to start moving forward.

Their accompanying officials will ‘signal’ them, discreetly, to ensure that ‘the Royals’ always know exactly who to chat to - and when to move on! Nothing is left to pure chance on such formal occasions.

Kate is an amazing woman. She is dealing with so much right now. As someone who has been dealing with cancer for 12 years I would give her one piece of advice that has helped me deal with it. Focus on her children. There is nothing stronger than the love for one's children to add strength and determination to survive. Her children need her.
