Great advice. As an older woman, I can promise I wouldn't have worn those barrel leg pants at any age. Not ever. No way.
I'm glad you agree, I would really like this fad to fade away!
Those were not like any if the barrel jeans I have seen. Some styles are very cute
@@mollyswanner1607 I can imagine them being cute on certain body types. But they'd be the worst case scenario on me, LOL
I agree! Those barrel pants are awful!
I don’t know how the half tuck or even the full front tuck only, even became a style. It looks like the person was in too big of a hurry to properly tuck in their shirt or blouse. Personally, I like the satin skirt but it must be black (for this skirt) and definitely needs
anti-static spray! Thank you for your ideas and fashion sense!
I loved the fringe jacket on you. It looks fun. That's my opinion.
I love your channel, Heather. 😊💜
I agree. You need to rethink that fringe jacket. I actually was checking to see if you had a link for that - seriously. I think it even had more of a slimming effect on you too! I could certainly use that. I'm also a life-long lover of fringe but that aside, this is classier than you may think. Breathes a fresh air of fun!
I always say, be authentically YOU and appreciate your input!
The half tuck is so tacky. Thank you for addressing this.
Thanks, it's been bothering me for awhile and I thought needed to be addressed. Glad you agree.
I agree. The half tuck and the front tuck look tacky to me.
@Terry2A agreed! Personally to me it looks messy
I just look like a drunk when I try it.
I have liked it when others do it; but I always look like I had not taken proper care after having been to the bathroom. 😉 🤷
Hi Heather!
Your advice on dressing is right on point. Your looks are much more classy than the trends in style now. Always love and appreciate your videos. Love and Kindness, Teresa
Thank you so much! I think style should have grace and class and I'm so glad you notice that. Have a great weekend Teresa
I loved how the black suede skirt is body-hugging not flared. I also enjoyed learning the example of suede being a better choice for not being a shiny bullseye. ty!
You got it! I am so glad you enjoyed the tip.
You can always have a tailor alter skirts to taper at the bottom.
Thank you for addressing these fashion issues. As a short person I could not wear those barrel leg or wide leg jeans. I definitely would look like a clown ! I personally don’t like the shiny silky skirt because it reminds me of a slip. Remember those ? The half tuck is something I never understood either ! Just why ????? 😄. Thank you Heather for showing us older ladies what is age appropriate, and looks amazing !!! You three have a great weekend, and as always, kisses to little Hurricane !!! 😘😘😘😘😘
Thanks Lisa! It's so true how many follow the trends and don't stop to think that they look like a clown LOL
@ so very true !!!! 💖💖💖💖💖
I agree on the half tuck. It looks so stupid. And barrel jeans are the absolute worst most unflattering. I can’t believe anyone designed them.
I agree with you
Hello Heather from a fellow Canadian. I love your fashion videos and inspirational messages. Thank you for all you do.
What a lovely thing to say and stay warm here in Canada Barbara, some days are quite frosty aren't they?
Rarely do I ever comment. Yet, wanted to say how very much I appreciate your videos... and those that leave comments (I've learned much from them, too) 🎉
Thanks so much for being here and your kind words
Oh no, I love my fooler tops! I can't give them up. :( They are the most flattering thing I own. The one you had on was way too tight, mine look nothing like that.
All the outfits would look better in the appropriate size and with shaping undergarments.
I’m struggling with just getting out of the house and because of my health , my body aches from the cold , I’m sad that you said the sweat suit is for home because I thought I might look ok wearing one of those out .
it's so important that you feel comfortable if you need to dress for health issues. Add nice earrings and maybe a necklace to style up your leisure outfit and take care.
@ i haven’t been out but maybe 3 times this winter my husband wants to go to a indoor home and garden show , I had thought leisure wear would be appropriate . It’s kinda like a warehouse. I always were jewelry lately more feminine pieces . Thanks for responding feeling a bit unsure at my older age .
@@Nini51963Leisure wear is absolutely appropriate to wear anywhere you want to wear it. In this day and time you can wear whatever you want and the leisure wear is perfect to wear out.
Maybe try a battery heated vest and fleece lined tights.
@@Nini51963Sounds like a great outing for an outfit like that! I hope you enjoy!
Thank you for all you do, Heather! Beautiful styles!
I am so glad you enjoy the videos! Thanks for your kind words
Shiny material is a huge NO! THANK YOU!
It's not for me in skirts or pants that's for sure!
I am enjoying many different styles of jeans! I do not have any barrel ones ,but I have seen some that are really cute and do not gather at the bottom.
Love your practical tips! Going to be 50 this year and really finding it difficult to dress myself. I need all ideasi can get 😂
I’m so glad I can help! Happy 50th!
I am a large curvy lady and i find I can wear a satin skirt as long as it has a print on it. A print doesn't highlight my lumpy bits.
Thanks for sharing
Another great video, Heather!
Thanks so much for saying that!
I do agree with you on these examples. I am going more for classy and elegant now, and feel more comfortable and confident when I dress to reflect that. I don't understand the shirt thing with the weird tuck either... and it's so important to look at the side view before doing these tucks. Also don't care for barrel jeans, but they are cute on young, thin girls. Just not someone my age! I look at myself realistically, and that helps to know what works and what doesn't. Your blazer and pants looks always look great and can take you just about anywhere. You are definitely helping me to appreciate my age!
Thanks so much for your input and I'm so happy that I'm helping you to appreciate your age!
I'm turning 67 and I'm going to be comfortable it's hot in Fl I'm not a trend setter never will be but I look very nice when I leave my home
New subscriber-love your videos.
Thanks so much and Welcome!!
Thank you so much!
You're so welcome!
I agree with all of your choices. The half tuck is just awful!
I agree
Baggy pants don't suit woman with wide hips ,can make them look bigger especially with a baggy top.
So true
...I n e v e r understood that " Half - Tuck thing " ...I had to ask myself..." Why ..whst is the point.?!" Same as with tucking in " only the Front of the garment " .. it looks silly. I was asking myself.." .When did this become a thing...???! ..lol..
I actually l o v e Fringe on clothing... I have a Moto Jacket with Fringe on the Yoke, and the sleeves...and I always get positive Comments when I wear it. I have at least 4 other jackets with Fringe...and I love them. ..I believe things such as this
are a Personal choice. ... when it is part of the " fun factor" in ones Wardrobe. 🙂
I totally agree with you. Be "authentically YOU!!
@lovingourage ...Awww ! Thank you ,and I appreciate your kind words and how you can understand about " being ones Authentic Self.." ..even with certain types of Garments !
You are so kind, Miss Heather ! 🙂😊
The half tuck has been looking quite stupid to me for the last few years. I don‘t like the front tuck either.
Thanks for sharing. I agree with you
Thinking of your doggy!
Thanks, he's better these days but almost 15 so it's day by day
Good morning I didn’t see where you listed the faux jacket . Thank you
If you go to amazon.com/shop/awesomeover50 you will find the jacket in the "Jackets Section" and you always pay the same as Amazon usually charges. Enjoy!
That half tuck is the tackiest so-called style ever! I never understood it! And I’m so thankful neither of our girls went for it either!
Now about that fringe jacket? Change those boots to Cowboy Boots, put your Wrangler jeans on, add that fringe jacket and you would be all ready to ride your horse in the Fort Worth Stock Show Parade later in February! Then wear it as you vacation at a Dude Ranch in Arizona! Other than that - I wouldn’t wear it anywhere! Ha! 😅
Thanks for another great video! 😊
Love what you said LOL!!
@ ❤️🤠❤️
I think you need to start from a baseline of proper sizing and garments that fit AND assemble outfits with flattering proportions that also respect the wearer's body shape before you can start talking about trends.
Most of your tops look about two sizes too small. Try lining up your shoulder seams with the outside edge of your upper arms. Go even bigger if you are aiming for an oversized looking shirt or chunky sweater. The outfits you showed do not flatter an apple shape. Tapered pants that are narrow at the ankle and flare to the widest area area around the belly make your middle appear wider than it really is. Try straight leg trousers that fall straight down from the hips. Even bell bottoms create an inverted V shape that makes your middle appear wider.
Also, apple shapes benefit by employing "column dressing. Match the color of your top to the color of your bottom so that the horizontal across your widest point is minimized. Your examples demonstrating the fringe vs. blazer are good examples that would have looked even better with straight leg trousers. The blazer looks best unbuttoned to create the narrow vertical contrast at your widest point. I am sorry you don't like the fringe because it is actually very flattering due to multiple vertical lines, the movement and camouflage of the fringe and the proportions established by the"bottom" edge of the jacket where the fringe starts. It looks good over contrasting solid layers but could be super cute over a small-print boho style dress with an empire waist which would nip in at the smallest circumstance around your middle. Properly fitting shoulders would help everything look balanced with a midi length hem.
Speaking of length, full length trousers are going to be the most successful at elongating your legs and balancing your apple shape. Full length means that the hem at the back reaches the level of insole or longer if high heels, and breaks across the vamp with the front.hem. A bright horizontal gap between your shoes or boots and your pants hems cuts off your legs making your legs look shorter and your body look proportionally wider.
I understand your not liking the half tuck. I thought loose shirttails was most flattering. Making a tight line across your widest part looked least flattering. Maybe if the shirt had been bigger you could have tied a less strained-looking knot. For that king of style, you would need 6 to 9 inches of shirttail hanging down from the knot. That would also give you a more relaxed blousy look.
I think it might be fun to get a bunch of different sized button down shirts from Goodwill (good choices in the men's section) and photograph yourself in different layers and tucks then analyze what looks most flattering on you.
BTW, you have such beautiful hair but we can't see it against the stark white background. Part of the effect is lighting. Part of it might be the camera opening it's aperture to get more detail on the black items when you're telling the camera to focus on black clothing.
Just subscribed today. Looking forward to more.
ok no one would wear that cobalt blue on top of whie shirt its ridiculous
These ones? 🤣
