@02:20 Sarah Jessica Parker is a former Broadway actress who starred as the lead in the initial run of the musical ANNIE in the 70s - 80's, so she can sing. Kathy sang in SISTER ACT (1992), but regardless, they are definitely being helped by a larger back-up group. Perhaps Bett's back-up group in concerts. You ca just tell. It's fuller than two people.
the "300 years" is from the time they died while the 370 years is from when she turned 16 in the sequel (making her 386 years old). The sequel takes place the same amount of years (29) after the first movie as the date it came out until now.

They did the backups! Bette said so. They were lipsyncing in the actual scene obviously but for the actual recording it is them. SJP is a pretty decent singer, not a pro by any means, but she can do it. Kathy did some harmonies and stuff in Sister Act so they both had enough skill for that.

Sarah Jessica Parker DID do her own vocals for the "Come Little Children" Song in Hocus Pocus - and even though Najimy has a "character" singing voice (like in Sister Act) I don't believe it was them or at least it wasn't JUST the two other sisters doing backup for "I Put a Spell on You".
I think the band is also supposed to be backing them up under the Sanderson's magic

The second movie is 370 years after Winifred’s 16th birthday. Then she aged into the old lady version that was the beginning of the first movie. +300 years to the 90’s. I think the new movie is supposed to be modern, not 70 years after the first.

Sarah Jessica Parker does have a musical background. She played Annie on Broadway when she was a girl. She also appeared in S04 of Glee and was involved in a couple of numbers (her singing with Kurt, Rachel, and Santana "At the Ballet" from A Chorus Line was quite nice). Obviously, she is more known for her acting roles, but she can sing. I doubt Kathy Najimy did any singing - - have you heard her on Sister Act? LOL In this song, it sounded like 4 or 5 back up singers anyway.
I was just gonna say this SJP was in a few episodes of Glee and "At the Ballet" is one of my favorites! I also loved when she did the song "let have a kiki" she was pretty good doing that too!

Yes both Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker sing their own parts. There is a 2018 interview with Kathy Najimy saying how amazing it was to sing backup for Bette Midler.

Since the 2nd film is 370 years after Winnie's 16th birthday & the 1st film was nearly 30 years ago, then the other 40 years tell us that Winifred was 56 when she & her sistahs were hanged in the first film (and obviously the same age when they were resurrected in that film). Idk how I missed the "370 Years Later" in the trailer ALL THIS TIME until just now when you pointed it out in your video lol!
Weren't they way older at the start of the first film, though? Before they killed Emily, Winnie looked about 100! Although, Mary and Sarah looked about the same age as her, but when their youth was restored Sarah looked much younger than them, so it's confusing. The town Salem was founded in the 1620s, so if they grew up there, they'd have to be at least 60 by 1693. before killing Emily. Maybe witches age more quickly, being soulless and all!

Ok, it’s been 370 years since Winnifred and her sisters received Book, on her 16th birthday. In the first film, the black flames candle was lit 300 years later since they were hanged for the murder of Emily Binx. In the second film, it’s been 29 years since they were defeated by the kids, Thackeray Binx, and Billy, when the sun rose and turn them to dust. 💚❤️💜

kathy najimy did her own singing in Sister act (great voice) SJP sang a lot as well. The only nun in sister act who was dubbed over, was Sister Mary Roberts (the small redhead) everyone else did their own singing.
If you want to do another reaction to Bette Midler in a movie (besides Beaches) I HIGHLY recommend her singing Somewhere Along the Way in the movie That Old Feeling. It's one of my favorites.

Have you seen the cover that Kelly Clarkson does on her show? They dress up as the Sanderson sisters and it’s the same outfits from the original movie. Bette Midler lent it to her for this performance. Kelly hits this note that is insane, totally slays the song.

Hocus Pocus is the reason why Bette Midler one of my idols. She plays such a kooky and hilarious character in Winifred Sanderson.
SJP *does* have a Broadway background. She’s been in Princess and the Pea, Annie, she was also on a couple episodes of Glee.
It wasn't Princess and the Pea, it was Once Upon A Mattress (which is based on Princess and the Pea, but with much more comedy).

I was recently the music and vocal director for "Simply Simone", which includes Nina Simone's fabulous rendition of this song. I had the young woman that was singing it listen to this version to hear how playful it could be. :)

Hocus Pocus 2 is only about 30 years after the first Hocus Pocus, the first is set in the 90s and the current, 2022, some of the kids that were in the first hocus pocus now play adults in the second :)

The back up singers definitely ARE Kathy Najimy and SJP. Bette Midler was telling a story of the day they recorded that song and she started to sing and looked over and saw them both nervous, knocking their knees, because they couldn’t believe they were actually singing with Bette Midler.

The new movie isn't 70 years later. The first one is 300 years after the day they were killed in Salem. Guessing the new movie takes place around 2021, So 42 years passed between their 16th birthday and the day they were killed. And 370 from their 16th birthday to the new movie.
