- Full BBC Scotland 'Sportsreel' programme. Introduced by Archie Henry.
Rangers v Celtic - Commentary by George Davidson
Hearts v Hibernian - Commentary by George Davidson
The first presenter is Archie Henry. He died 75 days after this was broadcast and died the day before JFK was assassinated.
He looks in the prime of life here - 50 yrs old. How short and uncertain life is.
Absolute dynamite. What a post! I would only be 4 or 5 at the time of this broadcast, so although I can't possibly remember it, a very youthful Archie McPherson is very much in my footballing sphere, along with the commentary of George Davidson. Quite wonderful...
Excellent - thanks very much for this - shame its too early for the great David Francie (not a child in Scotland who didnt hear him in his head while running with the ball).
Amazing to see Hearts and Hibs fans standing beside each other.
How could you tell Robert? Black & white TV makes that somewhat difficult.
I have a B7W to colour convertor fitted to my TV. I also watch the reaction of fans, you should try it sometime. It's somewhat fun.@@KeithWilliamMacHendry
That was how it was ten years later at same venue. Won't say the score.
'Rowdyism'. I have never heard the word before, but know exactly what it means. Great footage.
DAVID Francie. R.i.P. ❤ honest commentator and he knew his football.
David francie had a very distinguished voice..great commentator..
Francey
No. It was George Davidson.
@@davidprovan5650 Never heard of him
Pigeon racing on Sportsreel Lol. Superbious!
Wow this is a great upload be lovely to see more Sportsreel m8
The great Davie Francis made the most dreary games sound exciting on the radio, that much I remember.
Francey
He did but his surname was Francey.
Apparently George Davidson had to buy a programme before a Stirling Albion v Celtic match back then for his commentary because he didn't know the names of the home team !!!
brilliant love it ,,
What player Forrest was!!
Wasn’t he bloody brilliant, God bless him. Sad that a lot of these wonderful players are no longer with us. I was fortunate & privileged to witness these players, was a Rangers fan from 60/61 onwards. A Golden Age in Scottish football. Wish one could bring all of these great memories back.

WE ARE THE PEOPLE 🏴 🇬🇧
@@stephenturner6075 hi Stephen, cheers for sending your message, I was very lucky, such a great time & The Rangers had a wonderful team. It's such a long time ago, the very early 1960's for me 64 years ago & unfortunately I can remember so little of it. But I still have some vivid & colourful memories. I was even daft enuf to go and watch some of the Reserve teams playing, when people like Alex Willoughby & Denis Settrington played & Roger Hynd, 😂. Most of them have gone, Bless them for making Life that bit,( a lot) more exciting.
Real positions, left half, right half, inside right etc and numbered 1 to 11.
Magic,a young Archie McPherson.
No
15 arrests for rowdyism at ibrox and the United game marred by boisterousness
Love it !
Big budget spent on the graphics...
Good win for Workington
9 wins in a row for Morton 😀💙
Are there any more of these?
Great to see the old Rangers before it was killed off.
Zzzzzzzzzzzz
Archie Macpherson.
What's the time? Nearly ten past Haffey
Stuart kennedy doing his monkey impression
Back in the day when football was real.
Depressing for this Hibee!
jim kerray and Tom Callaghan for the Pars. Raith 1 , east fife 1. Morton 2, Ayr utd 0.
Always thought Willie Henderson was a better winger than Jimmy Johnstone.
Haha stay off the drugs mate
@@brianreilly1904Mmmm. And no 1967 or HH ? You just stick to the buckie, champ and leave the chat to the adults.
@jintsfan if you think Henderson was better than Jinky then you know nothing about football.
Jinky was celebrated as a world class footballer all over the world . He played against the best and destroyed them .There is a long list of world class players and managers from Alf Ramsey, Di Stefano, Ghetto, Bertie Voghts,Mazzola, Fachetti,.
and more who spoke about his brilliance. Did Real Madrid ever bid for Henderson ? because after wee Jinky destroyed them in them in Madrid 2 weeks after winning the European Cup they tried to might be past yer bedtime son so toddle of to bed sonny boy
Alfredo Di Stefano asked for Celtic to be Real Madrid's opponents for his testimonial game specifically to have Wee Jinky involved. That speaks volumes.
Wee willie will say himself that jinky was diferent class DAFTY
Blimey O'Riley, those presenters weren't backward in going forwards, were they? And you could see the embryonic Archie McPherson was going to have a rich future in football commentary, even by flubbing the names of those rugby clubs.
and we are Still........................The People !!!!!!!!!!! 55 TITLES AND STILL GOIN STRONG !!!!!
just ignore the death of your club in 2012 then
Pacific Shelf FC...ring any bells?
You people need to give your head a wobble. The SFA and UEFA recognize the current Rangers as the Rangers of before the financial troubles. He without sin cast the first stone etc...
@@alanprior7650 so you are not the same club as long as celtic are not the same club either?
Archie Henry was dead within 3 months of this broadcast
Peter Thomson was known amongst Celtic fans as “Blue Peter”😂
That is sad to know Dommer1973, I was only three in 1963 so don't remember Archie Henry.
Who took Rangers Penalty?
Silly you are Irish.
