Pyramid Peak - Colorado 14er Dayhike

- Pyramid Peak is located at the head of the glacier-carved West Maroon Creek Valley and technical enough to be regarded as a climb more than a hike. While only 8 miles long, this route demands a high level of fitness and ability. The trail up to the 13,000 ft ridge is absurdly steep, and the final 1,000 ft is one of the loosest and most technical standard routes up any Colorado 14er. Bring a helmet, and be ready for a long day.
That shot with the mountain goat peaking around the mountain at you is very cool!

Congrats Brandon! The bells, capitol, the crestones and the pyramid are the ones eluding me. Pyramid almost gives me vertigo looking at the pictures.
Pyramid is not so bad. Just take a friend and don't be too lazy to backtrack when it looks sketchy.

You take the anxiety out of finding the trail. You are awesome. I enjoyed every minute of it, especially the G.O.A.T..... The other vids I've watched on this mountain are not equal to yours. You are patient, you find the correct path. You make it look, seem easy this way. I'm 75 yo, do you think I can do it too?

Should change name to Mountain Goat Peak LOL. Lots of em.They all looked skinny. At least they don't attack or bite like so many other critters. Great job in climbing ,looks like a Very difficult one,esp. the way the rocks are. Looks like no solid footing.
Hopefully I'll be there one day! Just did Sherman for my 4th yesterday!

Amazing Dr. don't know how you do it, can't help but chicken out on those really exposed climbs where my life is in the balance. It really seems to be one of the most beautiful places to hike or climb in that area around Aspen. The mountain goats in the Rockies are interesting creatures when you realize how at home they are up in the mountains and that they see us humans every day of their lives climbing those mountains. They know every bit of the route because they see us do it every day of their lives the exact same way. They could hang out anywhere think they must find us to be curious the reason they hang out on the routes we take up the mountains. Thanks for the video always enjoy them.
Goats like salt....and food. Hence their interest. I'll let you research the rest. If I recall correctly, goats are not indigenous to Colorado.

How committing would you say this route is? Also how sketchy would it be for someone with alpine climbing experience but very little 14'er experience to do by themselves?
You surely can turn around anytime, but the scree slope at 12K is where the hike gets serious. Alpine climbing will certainly help, yet the altitude should be taken into consideration.

My pack can hold 3L and I take 1L of coconut water. I don't remember exact numbers since I have a simple filtration system.
