Thank you so much for this. I found out recently that I am 51% Native Mexican and that my ancestors were slaves from Jalostotitlan. Even though the end for my ancestors was very tragic, I’m glad to now know the history of my roots and where I get my fighting spirit from ✊🏼

Carnal thank you for this. My family is from Los Altos de Jalisco, Tepatitlan to be exact, and I have indigenous ancestry from that region. Saludos

Very interesting about peyote since my mom says something similar. We never ingest, but use lightly.

Thank you so much for sharing this video. I’ve recently been trying to decolonize myself and get more in touch with my indigenous roots but it’s not easy to find real information that doesn’t leave me more confused. All my family comes from Guadalajara but I don’t know much about them, so it hasn’t been easy. I won’t give up though, that’s for sure.

    Nice
I believe its originally pronounced tecuexe as
    Te-kwe-she
The x was historically sh, but it underwent the same sound change that happened in meshiko to mejico. In tecuexe towns people will pronounce it tecueje, because its changed due to spanish influence.

Hi! I'm wondering if you have any reading suggestions to learn more about Tecuexe history (and Mexican history/Spanish colonization in general)? I'm trying to reconnect with my roots and would appreciate any sources to explore, thanks for the consideration!
