I purchased the A129 Plus Duo from BBMC last week and my unit allowed me to record 2K 60FPS + FHD 30FPS simultaneously. I even updated to the latest firmware from the Viofo website.
Hi LegobrandonCP, that's really good to know. We'll do some further investigating, and if it turns out to be the case, then we'll make an update in our video. Sounds like a win-win for everyone!
I just got my A129 Plus Duo. I pre-ordered it a month ago. They just started shipping them. Got the unit an hour ago and bench testing it now. LOVE it. Got this cam from BlackBox recently. Day time footage is awesome 👏 both front and rear. But strangely for night time footage I like the rear cam better than the front cam. Front one is bright but too much grainy with noice at night time. Rear cam footage looks good with less noise. Also front and rear record in 2k 60 fps + 1080 30 fps. I need to check 2k 30 fps + 1080p 30 fps combination may improve the night time quality. Also keep in mind when buying this cam you should buy and use either Viofo or Samsung Pro Endurance sd cards only. I got footage missing issues with Kexin and Sandisc cards. So, I bought Samsung Pro Endurance 128 GB sd card which is exclusive for dash cams and now the missing footage issue gone.

It all depends on which camera you have and how many channels For example: - 2-channel 4K + 2K (U1000), a 64gb will give them about 3 hours, 128gb 6hr - DR900X-2CH, 4K + Full HD at high bitrate, about 6.5 hours on 64GB, 128 about 13hours. - Full HD front and rear, 30fps, he can at least up to 7 hours on the 64GB and 13.5 on the 128GB As you can see a lot more can be saved with the 128gb. Yes, it's normal since it takes few secs to charge the supercpacitor inside and the capacitor will help to preserve the last video without getting corrupted when your turn off the engine.
@@ViofoDashcamOfficial was my comment deleted? I'll try to post again: What you said here is inconsistent with your answer at amazon answers. Over there you said only a few seconds. So which is normal?

You never speak like for lack of a better word you have to dumb it down so most normal people can get what you are trying to say as far as what do the feautures you describe really mean in practical terms. I wish to pair multiple remotes to my A129 Plus but it seems to only pair with one. Is that a limitation? It would be nice to swap out just the camera between cars but keep the remotes taped in place.
Thanks, replacing an old LG dashcam that I purchased from you guys years ago. Is this dash cam capable of G Sensor in parking mode? I prefer the G sensor over motion sensor.
Hi, just got this dashcam for my car, would like to ask a question, will it drains my car’s battery if its continuously recording even when the engine is not switch on? Thanks
If your engine is not switched on, then the dash cam would not be continuously recording as there would be no power going to it (using the cigarette socket installation method, we mean!). That said, if you've hardwired your dash cam using a hardwiring kit, then the answer is still no. Your dash cam is only charging when your car ignition is on :) Let us know if you have any other questions at info[at]blackboxmycar.com!
Don't get me wrong, I am fascinated with VIOFO, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but like I said I drive a Kenworth eighteen wheel truck and hope you have a windshield cam as well as side mirror cameras as well
Glad you like the Viofo units! They unfortunately do not have side mirror cameras you'll be looking for BlackVue's truck models, or Thinkware's multiplexer
That's actually not expensive. There's a speed difference in saving speeds on SD cards. I tried running a go pro once on a cheap SD card and had awful video stutter and missing frames. High speed SD cards will keep up with the high amounts of data saving at a high speed.
@@hiattech Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't something like a Sandisk Ultra A1 qualify as a high quality SD card? That one goes for around 35 bucks, hence the question. Didn't think that a cheap micro sd card would be a good thing, just wondering why the Viofo one costs as much as it does.
Hi Darren, unfortunately not possible having 4 cameras in 1 system, but it is possible to set up 2 separate dual channel systems to cover 4 sides. You can see our video here on how we tackled it: ua-cam.com/video/_xxG8uBLxzs/v-deo.html&lc=Ugxkk53NUMWtN2RQnjB4AaABAg

Regarding the eMMC feature, the quoted portion below is from the product page listed on Amazon for this dashcam: "The eMMC storage is used for temporarily recording, and normally an external memory card is required. 1. While there is no microSD card inserted, it will use eMMC for recording but will keep notifying the user to insert the memory card. 2. While the microSD card failed like a memory error, will use the eMMC for recording but will keep notifying the user to replace the memory card. You don't worry the camera can not record video while the microSD card failed."
Hey there, the version that we carry is the non-eMMc version as we feel that the cost savings from the eMMc version will allow you to grab a larger size SD card for your dash cam.
Hi there. There's nothing inherent that will cause the dual channel to overheat with the battery pack during parking mode. I can assure you that we have plenty of customers who use this same setup with no issues
@@blackboxmycar thank you so much for the answer 🙏🏻 one more question How you recommend to leave the camera during the parking mode time lapse ore I can leave to record all the time and camera itself can overwrite videos. If I leave to record all the time is any issues with overheating?
Hey there, absolutely. Can you reach out to info[at]blackboxmycar.com and our team will walk you through the settings? You can also check out our recent video here too: ua-cam.com/video/RJWbXvrL3j8/v-deo.html
I have the A129 Duo Plus and am a little lost with the app settings for Parking Recording Timer and Enter Parking Mode Timer. What exactly do these two do? Also, any ideas why in my playback of a recoded video, the GPS has me located in northeast China? Ummm I'm in Ontario Canada last I checked.
Regarding the H.265 compress mode. How do I know if it is set on low bit rate or high bit rate? Also I notice that the SD Card icon isn't there when I restart the dash cam. Do I have to do the steps every time I start the car to get it to set at H265 compress mode or is it set in H265 until I change it?
The bit rate settings can be changed regardless if the camera is in compress mode or not. You should see the SD card icon if the camera is in H.265 mode. Once it is set it should stay that way 😊
Hello, thank you for the review. If I plan to use the parking mode I'm detection only, would I still need an external battery? The oem battery in my car is pretty expensive to replace so don't want to cause any issues with low voltage. Thank you
Hi Jason, yes - we always recommend the external battery for parking mode because it helps extend the parking mode time to 24-48 hours. With just the OEM battery in your car, you will get anywhere between 6-8 hours of parking mode (if not less!)
@@blackboxmycar I highly doubt it would only last 6-8h. Even on a small car battery. It pulls max 2A @5V, that's less than 1A @ 12V. A smallish 40Ah lead-acid battery should last at least 20h before being at 50% of its capacity.
for the parking mode, will the camera record 10-15 seconds before any strange event around my car? also, will this dash cam notifiy me once I get in my car? Can you please suggest any dash cam that offers these two features?
The A129 Plus Duo has that buffered parking mode feauture but does not have the notification feature. Contact our sales team at info@blackboxmycar.com for more info!
I see this comes with a USB/cigarette lighter adapter, but I also have USB ports in my vehicle. Can this camera be powdered without the cig adapter by using the USB cable alone?
Hi there, it depends on how much voltage your USB port provides, and what type of vehicle you drive as some don't offer enough power through just its USB port alone to power a dash cam.
I am a truck driver and have the 129 w/o the second camera, but I want to know what you recommend for my truck. I drive a Kenworth T680 . Please let me know soon Scott
Hey Scott! It depends on the setup you have planned, rear recording on a truck like your Kenworth will be difficult, and if that is something you're after, we'd recommend an exterior rear camera like the BlackVue DR750X-2CH Truck. Otherwise if you just want a front camera, the our A129 Plus or A229 would get the job done.
Hello: I’m having trouble showing the video on my phone on all three of my cameras. Good day, I wanted to ask what is the boot time of the Plus Duo.. From ignition to the cameras screen on/chime? I saw UA-cam review is the 129 pro duo and it was booting in about 3-4 sec. I was wondering if the Plus Duo was booting in 3-4 sec as well? Or is it closer to 10sec? Thanks
@@blackboxmycar .. Thanks for the confirmation. So if my plus duo takes 10 sec with no boot delay, then something is wrong with the unit... would you agree? Because I find 10sec to be unnecessarily long
@@blackboxmycar hey..I saw in your video.. At 9:25 when you plug in, it took 10 sec to go from red light to screen on. Did you have a 5sec boot delay configured ?
Great review, in a buffered parking mode for how long does it record before it detects the motion? And how long after it stops? Does it stops recording automatically?
In buffered parking mode, the VIOFO dash cam records a video sequence (starting 15 seconds before the event and finishing 30 seconds after the event) and saves the video into micro SD card when an event is detected. And yes, it will stop recording automatically. You can find your answer here: www.viofo.com/en/blog/advanced-buffered-parking-mode-b22.html
@@blackboxmycar The A129 Plus camera is not listed in the article as being compatible. Other sources have said the A129 Plus doesn't have the 15 second starting buffer. Would appreciate clarification.
Morning, thank you for the video. I just wanted to clarify, the 60fps has been totally removed from all options or is it possible with front 1920x1080 60fps/1920x1080 30fps.
Which is better for a 2 CH - Viofo A129 plus duo or A139 2CH? Looks like both have similar features except A139 does not have screen but still is more expensive than A129 plus duo. Any specific reason for it being more expensive even with no screen? (Ignoring CPL costs)
The main reason that the A139 Pro is more expensive than the A129 Plus Duo is because of it's 4k image quality, supported by a top of the line chipset, the Sony Starvis 2. Beyond that, the A139 Pro also has voice notifications, so it communicates verbally instead of through beeps like the A129 Plus.
Sorry to hear that, this unit definitely has this feature! If you are properly connecting to the unit, and are seeing a black screen, then try setting your phone to airplane mode before you connect to the camera's wifi
@@blackboxmycar I have not seen a dashcam that can beat the V3 in capturing clarity of license plate day or night. I wish it came with rear dashcam and wifi cloud accessibility
There are 2 different firmware versions listed, FWA129SN and FWA129S. Is there a difference and how to know which to use with A129 Plus. I'm worried about bricking my cam if i use wrong one. Thanks
Hi Michael, you sure can. Just note that because this rear camera doesn't have infrared (IR), your footage will be very dark at night, and you most likely won't be able to see anything. Your best bet is to get an IR dash cam for that purpose - we'd recommend the VIOFO A129 Duo IR.
@@blackboxmycar Thanks for the quick reply.I have seen conflicting review videos online on whether the IR rear cam records in color or black and white, or both. Video reviews show both answers. I would like to purchase, but do want color for the inside camera.
Hi Michael, typically with IR cameras, it's in black & white at night / in the dark for optimal interior viewing, and colour during the day when there's enough light.
I was about to place an order for this cam but saw that the buffered parking mode was removed in a firmware update. Is this true? Because i may reconsider my purchase if that is the case.
Yo Master, That’s a really good question. I plan on doing the same thing. I have two cars I would like to use the Dash Cam in. I can’t justify buying a second Dash Cam for the second car. It only gets driven once in a while, while the other car gets driven daily. This exposes one of the design flaws of the Viofo A129 Plus, and Pro models. The GPS Module is the windshield mount for the Front Dash Cam. This means if you want to use the Front Camera in another car, you must purchase an additional GPS Module windshield mount for $20USD. Other Dash Cams have the GPS module built-in to the main camera housing. This is one of my gripes, and one of the things I wish Viofo would address, and fix in future models. For now I’m willing to overlook this issue because when you judge the A129 Plus overall, it’s not the best, but I think it represents the best value, but that may change in 2021. -Chuck
Hi. I've just bought me a Viofo A129 plus duo... and I have one question.. Once I've saved a locked video in my cell, How can I delete it from my Viofo 129 micro SD Card?
You will need to unlock the files from dashcam first(wo wifi connection) or simply from the computer. Firstly you need to stop recording and press emergency button to enter the recording files, find the locked files, enter the locked file you want to delete, then press MIC button to unlock it, after which you'll be able to delete from the dashcam or from the cellphone end.
Hello Joseph, Just picked my Plus Duo . Before buying a new SD card , I would be happy to hear your recommendations for the best card for that dash cam. Have a great day :) Thanks
Hi there, We would recommend using either the SanDisk Ultra, BlackVue or Thinkware SD cards, all of which are available on our site. Hope this helped 😊
Just received mine, it too is 2k 60fps. How do I update via the app? It shows v2 in the app is available. (On the website it still only shows v1.) It downloads then says to connect to the camera. But, that's as far as it goes. I look in the downloads file of my phone and there is nothing there.
Hi spfx99, the easiest way to update your firmware would be to follow the instructions here: support.viofo.com/support/solutions/articles/19000117980-viofo-a129-plus-duo-dash-camera-firmware

And no remote Bluetooth support? Seriously still have to connect the rear camera cable to the side of the front camera and not the gps module? It’s silly it only a connection for the front power camera making the rear camera connection prone to breakage from removing it every time.
bt remote would be good. i hate to take my eyes off road to reach my garmin cam to press a button once or more to record something interesting on the road. would prefer a bt remote that i could press for a useless 1080 photo or slightly less useless video.
Hi there! You don't necessarily need a smartphone to use the VIOFO A129 Plus, but having one can enhance your experience. The A129 Plus allows for basic functionality without a smartphone, such as recording and playback directly on the camera. However, using the smartphone app can provide additional features.
Hey there, that's very strange. Do look into your settings, and worst case scenario, try resetting back to factory default and setting it up from there.
The Wifi feature is just meant for your phone to connect to the dash cam while within the dash cam's Wifi range, which is about 20 feet. It's not meant for remote monitoring.
I can’t view live view on my iphone app. And I can’t play back all video recording on my phone app too. But I can only play back all videos records after downloaded. Please, help me for that problem
I'm glad I have this camera, but WiFi playback is almost useless. Video barely streams whether i have it on 2.5Ghz or 5Ghz. Even used a different app and still have issues, but I've had a little bit better success by playing the videos using the IP address from the camera in a web browser, but it still has to buffer every few seconds. This needs to be resolved.
I just got the 129 duo plus. I didn't want a comparison of other versions. I just wanted to know all the features of my new unit. This video just confused the hell out of me.

That's great! It really depends on what we are doing! If the drive is going to be scenic we tend to go for a higher resolution but if we are in a city and require more information we tend to go for a higher frame rate as footage can be slowed down more easily 😊
It's very disappointing that they discontinued the 2k version with 6fps,I really needed one of those. Is there any other great dash cam that offer 2k with 60fps?
We prefer super capacitors as built-in batteries aren't very resistant to the heat and make the camera unreliable. You can read more about that here: www.blackboxmycar.com/pages/all-about-batteries
2k for the front if you use only the front camera. As soon as you plug in the rear camera, there will be 1080 for the front and 1080 for the rear, without having any other option to choose. just tested today, and I am very disappointed by the quality. the cables couldn't be more bulky
Sorry if I was unclear. Normally people wire to their car battery for parking mode power as a power supply. If you are looking for long-term parking of 25+ hours parked, a battery pack like the PowerCell 8 is recommended.@@dimples262009
This cam is listed on amazon as 2k/60fps nowhere does it say only when used without rear cam. Looking at 1080/30 quality of rear cam now i wonder if i should even spend $160+tax with viofo's lame "coupon" for this plus when i can get much cheaper separate cams 2k/30 for front and rear. If one ever fails i'll have a backup for the front. Even looking at the front 2k/30 video quality is only slightly better than my current different brand 1080/30. not even worth upgrading. Plus the wiring kit that doesn't come with taps and fuses. For the price they need to send a rep and do install at my location + lifetime warranty. Now i'm not sure about it. Will look into something cheaper.
Keep in mind you need a second SD card if you use two seperate cams, and you need to run wires from both the front and back to fuse box. But I agree. The only reason I am going with the Duos is because I want quad channel so the "rear" cameras will actually be used on the sides.
If you are a seller which give 2 years of warranty you will be not so tempted to sell the eMMC version. Just think that it is just 16GB size and how quickly the card will be full and overwritten if Viofo will allow normal recording on eMMC. If eMMC will stop working after 18 months for example you will need to support full warranty for all camera. Never forget: the weakest point of a device is showing the real lifetime of it.

Your dash cam is only charging when your car ignition is on :)

Why is a 256 gb micro sd option 80 dollars when added to the dashcam on the site? Is that the correct price? Seems quite expensive
Thank for the review,.,.
Is it possible to have a 4 camera setup
Hi Darren, unfortunately not possible having 4 cameras in 1 system, but it is possible to set up 2 separate dual channel systems to cover 4 sides. You can see our video here on how we tackled it: ua-cam.com/video/_xxG8uBLxzs/v-deo.html&lc=Ugxkk53NUMWtN2RQnjB4AaABAg

Thanks. I looking for one and I think I’ll get this one.
Regarding the eMMC feature, the quoted portion below is from the product page listed on Amazon for this dashcam:
"The eMMC storage is used for temporarily recording, and normally an external memory card is required.
Hi I have one question
If I use this dual camera with the battery blackvue 124x or procell8 will camera overheat durin the parking mode ?
Hi there. There's nothing inherent that will cause the dual channel to overheat with the battery pack during parking mode. I can assure you that we have plenty of customers who use this same setup with no issues
@@blackboxmycar thank you so much for the answer 🙏🏻 one more question
How you recommend to leave the camera during the parking mode time lapse ore I can leave to record all the time and camera itself can overwrite videos. If I leave to record all the time is any issues with overheating?

Yes, that would be the BlackVue DR750X-2CH Truck Plus.

Once it is set it should stay that way 😊
Thanks for the video! Super helpful. Is there an option where you can turn off the led light when it is recording?
You sure can, Gabe. You can turn it off within the settings.
For the parking mode, do both the front and rear cameras have sensors for motion detection? Is the buffered parking mode triggered for both cameras?
Hi there, that is correct - front and rear camera both have sensors for motion detection. And yes, buffered parking mode will be triggered for both.
Do we necessarily have to hardwire the viofo dash cam? What happens if I dont hardwire? Will the parking sensor not function at all?
Correct, if no hardwire, then you don't receive parking mode.
Please let me know soon
Scott
Do you have side mirror cameras
The closest we have would be the Thinkware Multiplexer
Does the H265 encoding have to be set each time upon start up or will it hold that setting once it’s set?
It will hold this setting.

Hello there,
The plus duo takes approximately 3-4 seconds also. This can also be changed to be increased if so desired 😊
@@blackboxmycar .. Thanks for the confirmation. So if my plus duo takes 10 sec with no boot delay, then something is wrong with the unit... would you agree? Because I find 10sec to be unnecessarily long

Hi Ildar, you sure can!

Morning, thank you for the video. I just wanted to clarify, the 60fps has been totally removed from all options or is it possible with front 1920x1080 60fps/1920x1080 30fps.
It can still do 60fps in any mode for the front camera!

The front/rear cable is 20 feet long.
Any word on if you'll have it on Amazon Canada? I see the A129 Plus single channel has been on there but not the Plus Duo.
Hi DT22, unfortunately, it will not be available on Amazon Canada anytime soon, so you're better off purchasing directly from our website :)
in parking mode , will this unit record from both channels the front and the rear at the same time when it detects motion?
Both front and rear for motion detection, that's correct!
I bought the 129 plus and can’t get it to show live video on my phone does it have the feature?
Sorry to hear that, this unit definitely has this feature! If you are properly connecting to the unit, and are seeing a black screen, then try setting your phone to airplane mode before you connect to the camera's wifi
I bought this a week back. How do I setup the 5 Ghz Wifi?
Hi there. You can switch the wifi frequency in the settings of the camera, either in the app or on the screen.
Does it support 5g wifi? The specifications only 2.4g
Hello! Does it have the unique GPS mount? Can I use the one from my old Viofo A119 V3?

Can you mount the rear camera on the front windshield to record in cabin?
Just got one of these on Amazon with the eMMC. What kind of micro SD card is best? Looking to get a 256gb one. Thanks!
Hi Steven, we always recommend SanDisk A1 or above!
is this a good dashcam for -20 to - 35c weather?
Why do they still use mini USB and not USB C?
I was about to place an order for this cam but saw that the buffered parking mode was removed in a firmware update. Is this true? Because i may reconsider my purchase if that is the case.
Correct, this feature has been removed, unfortunately.
Can you put the same dash cam in different cars?
Yo Master,
That’s a really good question.

Are you able detach/slide the cam off the mount easily? I live in a crappy neighborhood and planning to take off dash cam constantly.
Yes! The front camera can be easily slid off the mount when needed.
Unfortunately I already bought 70mai a800 before reach ur review... 😭😭😭
Never too late to upgrade :)!
a119 V3 £70 , a129 plus duo £130! 2x a119 V3 is a better choice isnt it ?
