3 years of building the hype of this trilogy. And a lifetime of being a FF7 fan. This trilogy is gonna be one of the most important things in our lives for sure!
Jank materia combinations are one of the best things about FF7. I can't wait to see what overpowered shit is possible in part 2 with really clever arrangements.
OMG! Did Max really say Flight of the Navigator. That was a huge movie to me when I was child. It was the first movie I desperately asked my parents to see. Though I couldn't quite say the movie correctly at the time (or just forgot the proper title, either or), so I just called it Fire Alligator. LOL. Wasn't expecting that to be dropped in this convo. If it is anything like that, this trilogy could be a wild ride for the second and third acts.
Its one of those that I remember as a kid. That and Explorers were fun sci-fi kids movies. I have seen them in the last few years to bring back the nostalgia.
As someone who as following Max for more than a decade, the gets it right a shockingly amount of the time. He’s clairvoyant at this point. He also has his finger on the pulse of the culture. If I was in charge of a Movie,Video game, TV studio I would hire him as consultant.
I wouldn’t say he’s clairvoyant, but you are right about him being on the pulse of culture in media. Max, with all his experience from art, to gang dev, to being someone very media literate, it just feels like Max is in tune with how this story would play out, considering that he grew up in an era just like the developers. So, in hindsight, like myself, who was born in the same era, admit slightly a little after, that a lot of the media, we consumed after Final Fantasy 7 original, play the role to critiquing and creating a metanarrative that we are seeing in the remake trilogy. Funny enough, Netflix’s Scott Pilgrim takes off, is undergoing a similar effect of retrospection and creative liberty of creating a story with similar plot feats, but ultimately, the narrative that is both faithful to the original and completely new. I guess it is just an artist thing to sometimes look back on your work, reflect, and re-integrate like recycling for a better future.
I hate that quote about Aerith not being thought of as a close range character. I just love the sound of bonking enemies with her rod in OG, and I feel deprived of that in Remake.
I always thought that the Aerith in remake was the Aerith we see at the end of the original. She saw the story and that would explain why she seems to know what is happening half the time.
Reminder: on top of the OG story and needing to introduce Cait Sith, Vincent and Elena, Rebirth also needs to address: Zack story, Roche, Jessie and Biggs still being alive, Marlene having knowledge of the ancients, possibly do something with Leslie / Kyrie, Sonon / Deep Ground, tie things to Genesis and Loveless, and introduce the mystery beard man. I don't think people fully realize just how messy the plot got. If you introduce an element you need to expand on it / resolve it. That's a concept in story telling. And right now there's too many characters that need to have their stories "resolved". An easy way to address this would be to kill a lot of these characters at the same time but that's pretty lazy.
I’m a little confused on how Remake’s timeline could possibly lead to Advent Children. Remake’s Sephiroth is from Advent Children, and he’s come back to change the timeline. In addition to that, Advent Children leads to the bad ending where all humans die. I thought the whole point was that by the end of the remake trilogy, we’ll be on a new, proper timeline and ending?
People misunderstood "linking up" to mean it's heading straight to Advent Children (meaning none of our characters develop beyond their worst versions of themselves; Cloud is emo, Tifa can't decide whether he even loves her and acts like a jilted woman, etc). Sephiroth IS from AC, Whispers Rubrum and etc were Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo trying to protect the AC timeline so they can come into being. But people are super interested in protecting the idea of Aerith being the Designated Death Maiden That Makes Cloud Sad even though the original point of her death was to subvert Hollywood idea of self-sacrificing heroes.
@@ultimamage3 Not to mention that the final boss of Remake has Aerith describing their fated future (OG7 and AC) as a fail state. It's not exactly something to look forward to.
I find the "will lead back to AC at the end" kinda annoying. Because now we know the fate of every character, so the suprises won't be as impactful as we know how things are going to go.
It's funny that you point at the Yakuza (now Like a Dragon) series, as in them you also can see synergy attacks that directly depend on the bonding between characters. The most recent example is in Yakuza 7, with Kasuga getting group attacks with each party member, and them in return. Time to grind before the Temple of the Ancients... again xD
Can't wait for when Max replays remake and OG 7 new threat mod before the launch! i already have rewatched the already existing runs 🐸, the speculations and theorycrafting during these runs are always so fun
And Here I am hoping this meant the events of Advent Children would be rewritten by the events of this game, or just doesn't exist at all. That movie made Spirits Within look like Terminator 2 in comparison.
Sephiroth is Clouds father! Great twist! No one will see it coming!!! If Zack doesn’t fly in and block a sword meant for another character, I will be very disappointed 😂
That hyped train has derailed. How can anyone get hyped for a game that ain't changing, I want Weiss to do the dirty on a main character, preferably Aerith. But that ain't happening. "Let the hunt begin." If that phrase has no bearing on the trilogy, I'll be pist it would be something a villain would say if somebody has been targeted by Shinra, e.g. Cloud's party. I hope the party fight Deepground but that is looking less likely which is a fkg shame.
I could agree. If it’s Clouds Redemption. His arc could very well be the reason the end of rebirth won’t be “happy”. I could see part three has the first 3 chapters without cloud, then have a chapter of his mental recover, then he returns, redeems, saves stuff.
It doesn’t fit with the two syllable word beginning in Re thing. I doubt the subtitle for the third game is gonna be a word that’s that long. Remake and rebirth are short on the tongue. Redemption is not.
@@Erikthedood My money is on something like "Reverse" where depending on what might or might not happen in Rebirth the gang might want to "reverse" a certain event or even Max's whole "Different timelines converging" thing.
I don't quite understand, since the trilogy is a sequel, why would Advent Children happen? So, it's a sequel only after Crisis Core and FF7 OG, but not after Advent Children and Lifestream Black & White? In my perspective, in Advent Children, you can deduce that Jenova & Sephiroth are still present. So, the trilogy seemed like a way to conclude everything, but if Advent Children happens after the trilogy, Sephiroth and Jenova are still alive in the end.
Does anybody else think that the floor in the main menu where the Buster Sword is. Looks like the floor at the bottom of the Northern Crater before fighting Jenova…?

I never get tired of the whole "Wait, Max was right again? How?!" I honestly sometimes get confused by some of the news as my first thought is "But didn't we knew that already?" But we only knew it because is was in Max's theory-crafting portfolio.
He’s said so much shit over the years, of course he’s going to be right eventually lol Also, I’ve seen him steal and take on other people’s theories more times than he’s actually predicted anything right. People act like he’s predicting and getting all of these things right and he’s not lmfao 😂 Saying that the second installment of a trilogy is going to be like another second installment of a different trilogy doesn’t make him a genius. Of course the second installment is going to end off where the party is at their lowest. That’s how middle installments work. This is common sense shit lol
@@fearlesscheshirecat1411 Even FFXIII-2 did exactly that with Caius succeeding in killing Etro, Serah dying, and Lightning crystallizing; it's not even new in this series.
@@ultimamage3 Exactly lol I like Max, but it honestly annoys me how his fans sit there acting like he’s some sort of Bugenhagen type of figure lmfao 😂 He literally listens to his fans’ theories, and others, and then will come back in a new video like it’s his own thoughts. I’ve seen it happen literally 3 times just with shit from Remake….. Where he would on camera be like “Nah I don’t think that’s gonna happen”. Then come back and make a new video where he’s like “They called me crazy for saying this”. Then rant on about theories he stole, and then act like it was his own.
@@fearlesscheshirecat1411 thing is, it is not important the theories originally his or someone else, he is just genuinely nice person, entertaining, and spreading good vibes. That's why people come to him for ff7 content. Maybe there are many hardcore and smart ff7 fans crafting his own theories.. but are they entertaining as good as max?
@@rezarhd86 Oh I’m not saying he’s not entertaining. My issue with Max is when he’ll act like he came up with the theories. When you’ll see him in one video scoff and laugh about the theories his fans in the chat bring up. Then in the next video, I guess he starts looking deeper into what they were saying. Because he’ll come back and use those same theories he was mocking his fans about, and take it on like he came up with it.
@zackkeogh3515 oh i was aware of that (the journey to ff7 remake). But i mean beyond that one video. i imagine them taking notes to max's theory crafting, which is hilarious XD
By finishing up at city of the Ancients it means PT 3 opens up white hot with one of the coolest sections of og. The climb up the mountain and events at the northern crater are one of the peaks of the game. There's also more Yuffie story with a confirmed to be expanded Wutai and Vincent likely taking lead on deepground. There's a ton of cool stuff yet to come.
I still don’t understand the endgame being Advent Children. The people who live and who die, doesn’t it mean nothing if we all know they still will eventually meet the same fate that they meet before Advent Children. Doesn’t that remove the player “doubt” element that the characters who we know die will be dead anyway instead of alive? Is it just about the journey being a mystery but already knowing how the story ends? Sort of like a spoiler for the end of the remake trilogy but re-experiencing the game as if you were playing it for the first time? My expectations were that it would change the ending since “destiny of fate” has changed.
@@RandomFlask175 I’m starting to think it could be the developers baiting us into thinking it will end the same. There shouldn’t be any reason why they would tell us basically the ending of the remake trilogy, right? I guess in the end the only way to find out about all this is to play all the games these developer interviews are messing with my head too much. 😆
Max read closely what Nomura said about Advent Children. Here is the quote: "If you play right through to the end, it will link up [to Advent Children] so you don’t need to worry about that,” he says with a knowing smile." Advent Children 'link' could really be anything. FF7R is a sequel to the OG, but the AC 'link up' could simply be a reveal that Sephiroths time traveling consciousness (or whatever) saw those events in AC too, or came back from AFTER the events of AC (its a sequel to AC also). I really don't think those dev comments should be taken to mean we know the final outcomes for all these characters. It simply means AC isn't being retconned, and nothing else! We already see branching timelines in play. It could be explainned that AC exists in timeline A, but timeline B is where all this other Remake stuff happens (for example)
Leaked script>>Rebirth is going to end with darth sepihroth saying "cloud, I am your father" then they fight and cloud is gonna fall into the lifestream then part 3, zack n barret( han solo n chewbacca) will go rescue cloud from his mind prison then they will go fight the death star in the sky( ultima weapon) followed by the final fight with emperor jenova where darth sephiroth will change sides and meteor jenovas ass back to the promised land.
5:34 This is why I like Max. A lesser streamer would try to make themselves sound like they have super powers and call it something stupid like Crazy Talk.
the idea i have in my brain is the second game ends right after the "that" scene, but Cloud "sees" it about to happen like one of the "deja vu/flash backs" he been having, he tries to stop it, but Sephiroth gets them both and they fall into the water together, we are left wondering who (if either) of them makes it out. OR the same thing but with Zach in his new timeline.
The biggest concern I have now is that they WILL cut content from the original game. The game has been stated to be about 100 hours if you do everything. Only 1/3rd of it is supposed to be main story stuff, so that's about 33 hours. They are adding an entire side section with Zack. It's been a while since I played the original, but I feel like it took more than 30 hours to go from Midgar to the City of the Ancients. (Maybe I'm mis-remebering?)
you can finish ff7 game in 40 hours if you talk about the main story but it is hard to compare as in the original you need to read while in the remake you have videos dubbed and that takes more time than read...
Doing a casual run recently of OG FF7 and you can get through that game in like 25-30 hours. I did a 100% run in like 32-35 hours. So it's not that long.
honestly, it was easy to see the empire strikes back scenario happen, because where else in the game would you cut off before the final part of the trilogy? i think MANY people predicted that, not just max. not to take away from his videos because he does bring up things i never thought of sometimes.
I think the context Max is speaking under is from the point of view of before any of us understood whether it would be a trilogy or not. People were saying it was going to be a bunch of parts (5-7 etc) instead of a proper trilogy where the Empire Strikes Back is fitting.
@@ryanharrison3118 a lot of people including myself was expecting a trilogy. A quadrilogy or quintilogy would have been too messy trying to find start and end points while trying to make each their own standalone game. The reason why ppl thought it would be five parts is because square enix said they are making it episodic.
Max and FF7 Remake content, one of my favorite things to pop up on my feed. I'm not sure what will be sadder once this remake project is all wrapped up in a couple years time. That the story is complete or that wont be getting these hype/big brain speculation vids anymore..
I've been saying it for years now but I still think the Remake timeline is going to remake the OG ending where you see Nanaki and his kids on a mountain, with Midgar taken over by foliage. It hints that humans are gone and I think this trilogy is going to change that.
Kitase believed that Holy wiped out humans at the end of FF7. That's not necessarily a shitty ending, since at least it shows that Cloud and etc were committed to defending _the planet_ and not just people, but it's an unideal one for the heroes in the immediate future (especially with Advent Children there where the characters regressed, and their idea of progress was "use fossil fuels, which IRL pollute and harm the planet"). The Lifestream already created humans before, eventually it would heal and develop complex life so that humans could be reborn in a more fertile world. But the fact that it took 500 years for that _sucks_ and the heroes can potentially fast-track that if Aerith lives and passes on her knowledge as Cetra (especially after taking in the collective knowledge at the Temple) onto the next generations of humanity. They set up the idea of her teaching children for a reason.
I've said it before, but I'm convinced that all of the changes they're making are all aiming towards "fixing" the last third of the game (from when Meteor is summoned onwards) to make everything more coherent & relevant to the end of the game. In the original you spend a ton of time gathering Huge Materia, that have no bearing on the end of the game, you have 3 optional Weapons to defeat (2 of which were added for the International Editions of the game) & a load of other side quests & content that doesn't tie into the endgame but maybe fills in some crucial information. The relevant story post Meteor being summoned is - Escaping Junon Finding Cloud Unlocking Cloud's memories Working out Aeriths plan Return to Midgar & a Weapon fight North Crater through to last Boss (the final dungeon) In between you have the following that doesn't really impact the end of the story (these are all a mix of story that's ultimately not relevant, story that's really good but easily missable, and activities that feel like they should have story attached & story impact but don't) - 4 Huge Materia to collect & unlock 3 other Weapons to defeat Ultimate Weapons & Limits to find for each character The crashed Genilka Chocobo racing to find the Materia Caves Finding Cloud's memories of Zack Play games at Gold Saucer for special Items & Materia Maybe Wutai (part of getting Limits & Ultimate Weapons but includes a good chunk of side story compared to some of the others) I think they want to "cross the streams", so to speak & have a big chunk of this "side content" actually be relevant to defeating Sephiroth and be integrated into the game's narrative. When Sephiroth shows Cloud the photograph of him, Tifa & Zack at the Whirlwind Maze, Zack himself will also be there & that's ultimately what will push Cloud into his mental breakdown. And both unlocking the Huge Materia & finding the Materia Caves will be a big part of the story now (unlocking the memories of the Ancients & helping the party work out Sephiroths plan & how to defeat him forever). Wutai will be part of the Materia Cave story (tying the Leviathan Materia location in the original game into the other Materia Cave's accessed by Chocobo). All changes up to the end of Rebirth will be relatively minor (like with Remake) but the third game will see huge structural & story changes - so expect everything to fall off a cliff at the end of Rebirth to set up the new final act.
@@andimari9194Considering that it’s confirmed that they watched his “Journey to the Remake” video to get inspiration, it’s very possible. I honestly think he’s more influential on the development than many people realize.
So if we are indeed headed to advent children doesn’t that mean Aerith does die no matter what since she’s of course dead in the movie I still think she’ll die only it’ll be different since her death kinda has to happen for Holy to be cast
the second part of a trilogy is essentially the thing you didn't want to happen at the end of the first part, but then the third part needs to pull a rabbit outta its hat to tie it all together
Max advent children Sephiroth is making the trilogy happen When they talk about advent children they're meaning that they will refer to geostigma and other advent children concepts.
They said "link up" and suddenly people's reading comprehension plummetted-- but yeah it is disappointing for it to end up as Advent Children if that's what they meant.
@@ultimamage3 Yah they take that to mean we’ll end up exactly the same way as Advent Children. I don’t believe that at all. “Link up” could mean so many things. Everybody did that a couple of months back about something else too…? They took it the completely wrong way, and I’m just sitting there thinking how the fuck people came to that conclusion. I’ll have to go back and look it up. It’s gonna bother me now lol
@@fearlesscheshirecat1411 I'm going to take a wild guess and say it was Hamaguchi's _"I’ll say that the locations covered in this game go up to the Forgotten Capital"_ which people would've immediately taken to mean "the EVENTS covered in this game will include Aerith totally dying at the Forgotten Capital because she HAS to die because Cloud's character development and he needs to be sad (and also CloTi needs to be miserably canon)".
in terms of change, that mean they can still choose not to kill off Aerith, because remake is in a different timeline. Advent children, Cloud "sees" her in a vision. which could be Aerith from remake timeline.
I know this is nuts, but if her connection to the lifesteam is what allows that kind of nonsense to happen (just like Sephiroth) then it retroactively covers Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories where Sora's memory of Aerith, projected through Castle Oblivion, was able to attain self-awareness as a projected memory. Aerith's presence across timelines transcends conventional magics and modes of existence.
On the Kaiju battle prediction. Square has once again laid ground work from another game just so FFVII can pick it up and run (A hyperbole, but it's not too far off from the truth imo). Without a doubt FFXVI had some of the coolest boss fights I've seen in a long time. Now imagine taking the learnings from the Titan and Bahamut fights into part 3. It's going to be nuts.
Personally not a fan. When gaining levels and new gear means nothing cause enemies are always leveling right beside you you feel almost no progression in power. Also failing to constantly "upgrade" leads to being underpowered.
@@sonnieandjacobumm yes, that's kind of the point. Also rarely you would max out a character on a regular playthrough, and that's what post game content is usually for.
@@sonnieandjacob thats the point of progression you gain your strength for your advantage. its one the Pitfalls of final fantasy 8 . its cool on paper and Difficulty junkies would its not necessarily the best way for players to enjoy the game. put it on a post game version much like difficulty mechanics were then it will be fine. Us getting Older does not have the Luxury of time to grind and prepare for things thats why people tries to level and gain strength fast because they want breeze through the game.
Isn't the Advent Children Movie set in the True Ending of Ff7 where humans are gone and Red 13 and his children are the only intelligent lifeforms left? That's technically the bad ending. If anything the remake could be avoiding the FF7 true ending
Its neither been confirmed or denied that humans perished in the 500 year future after OG 7. And yes, Advent children is part of the original games timeline, 2 years later. Seeing an overrun Midgar 500 years later doesn't mean humans are dead. As seen in Advent Children, Midgar was nearly destroyed by Meteor... eventually people could have just given up on the city and moved away.
AC is part of the game's timeline and a big, tone-deaf part of that installment was that the alternative to Lifestream was fossil fuels. You know, the thing that's killing the planet and cost the lives of millions of people right now IRL. And they set up that Sephiroth and Jenova are still corrupting the Lifestream so it taking 500 years for Midgar to recover (they didn't choose a sooner point in time like
Im hoping it doesnt end at northern crater. Really praying for maybe a mix up of some of the events that happen after northern crater, then ending at the city of the anciemts death
Not that Max doesn't have a good pulse on FF, but comparing the 2nd part in a trilogy to The Empire Strikes Back is literally the most obvious comparison possible.
"You can learn a lot from The Empire Strikes Back." Biggs & Wedge: You don't say? (Yeah, I know: B&W are a FF staple. They were in FF6, too. And SW's B&W are from A New Hope. My point still stands.)
They say the game ends at The Forgotten Capital. It's possible the party gets through that and goes beyond, but a cutscene or another playable part goes back to that location at the end.
To be honest I don't think you were the only one thinking where it would end and how it would be. You're just the only one on youtube with a lot of followers, but if you know ff7 and knew it would be 3 parts then you would automatically know or at least think it would end at the northern crater or when tifa and barret are held by shinra. Like you though I feel like people who love and know ff7 thought is would just be 3 parts because in og ff7 there are basically 3 or 4 main sequence, leaving Midgard going to forgotten capital then crater and right when you go to northern crater. I'm glad you were right though and speak out for those of us that just love this game
So the third game is obviously gonna be called something starting with "Re-". And they stated very clearly that they are taking more than a few pages out of the original Star Wars trilogy's book. The third episode is called "RETURN of the Jedi" and originally at one point even "REVENGE of the Jedi". So I bet FF7 part 3 is gonna be called either "FF7 Return" or "FF7 Revenge". "Return" as in "return to the planet" or "revenge" as in Cloud and co. taking revenge on Sephiroth for Aerith's death AND/OR Sephiroth taking revenge for his own death at the end of the OG timeline. Also fits in nicely with "Remake" and "Rebirth" also being two syllables.
i mean thinking about godfather II its even more likely to think that zack is gonna be playable in some fashion giving that movie does tell the story of vito's rise and micheal's downfall paralelling the two sides of the same thematic storytelling
I swear Max is a damn prophet for FFVII. I remember he was mentioning how the second installment is the “Empire Strikes Back” and seeing that from the directors themselves is perfect. Can’t wait for February!
@@fearlesscheshirecat1411 It’s more so how he was specifically mentioning Empire Strikes back and how those story beats line up as well as how the entire trilogy layout is similar to FFVII. Narratively it’s a common story structure across story-telling but the fact that the directors and Max were on the same wavelength with what they’re saying is what’s great
A thought occurred to me while listening to this.... what if the twist is we get the Northern Crater moment in the Ancient City. We think it's building up to ending with Arieths death, but in fact Cloud stops it by sacrificing himself, seemingly dieing in the lifestream, but Meteor is summoned early and everyone is arrested and captured so game 3 opens with escaping the execution room in Junon.
I hope FFVII Reunion (Part 3 of the Trilogy gets an Advent Children DLC Bonus story, like how Yuffie's Intermission Story DLC was handled.) I really think AC could benefit from being retold, as the movie can leave a lot to be desired when it comes to characterization, design choices, and pacing.
Since SE is going to connect this trilogy to Advent Children, I HOPE they will give Cloud his Fusion Swords, his Fenrir Motorcycle, and having a huge quest involving obtaining the Knights of the Round summon material for the third game! Just wishful thinking here. One last thing and it's a theory of mine, I believe since Zack will somehow meet up with the Cloud from the current timeline, I wonder if that's when Cloud will get his Fusion Swords. I mean it wouldn't make sense for both of them to carry the Buster Sword. Just a thought.
Personally, I think this remake trilogy is a sequel to the originals, after Dirge of Cerberus. Genesis came back and found out, somehow, a way to turn back time. If that’s the case, I think it’s genius, because it gives newcomers a chance to experience the story, returning players a chance to re-experience it with new paint, while keeping both on their toes and guessing what’s going to happen next, while also not invalidating the originals. I can’t help but believe Square planned this after they released Dirge. I know Genesis’ scene was supposed to simply tease Crisis Core, but given where that scene is in the timeline, and nothing followed up after until now, I’m just ready to see it come to fruition now.
They know what they're doing. I already pre-ordered the game. I mean, was there any question here? Remake was (for me personally) one of the best games i've ever played. And right now there's too many characters that need to have their stories "resolved". An easy way to address this would be to kill a lot of these characters at the same time but that's pretty lazy.
Between this and Infinite Wealth, I'm not ready for the emotional damage.

100% agreed, we gonna be eating good next year!
@@ultimamage3You hit the nail on the head.
First off thank you max for all the hard work on your ff7 videos

Im gonna clean my Ps5 very throughly for this beast of a game
The hype train is going at full speed!!!
Don't miss that train people!
I'm going to avoid a few spoilers sadly and wait for it to come to pc.
There ain't no getting offa this train we on.
Part 3 is called Redemption. Calling it now.

Empire Strikes Back is GOATED, and if Lucas would have written it, (he didn't) then it would be.....MID AF.
Wibbly wobbly Kingdom Hearts time magic. Come on it's obvious if you think about it. /s
They could be just saying things to keep us guessing, we aren’t truly gonna know how everything plays out until it happens
Does anybody else think that the floor in the main menu where the Buster Sword is.
Looks like the floor at the bottom of the Northern Crater before fighting Jenova…?
Max is a secret project manager for FF7 trilogy, confirmed.
I never get tired of the whole "Wait, Max was right again? How?!" I honestly sometimes get confused by some of the news as my first thought is "But didn't we knew that already?" But we only knew it because is was in Max's theory-crafting portfolio.
He’s said so much shit over the years, of course he’s going to be right eventually lol
Also, I’ve seen him steal and take on other people’s theories more times than he’s actually predicted anything right.
People act like he’s predicting and getting all of these things right and he’s not lmfao 😂
Saying that the second installment of a trilogy is going to be like another second installment of a different trilogy doesn’t make him a genius.

I like Max, but it honestly annoys me how his fans sit there acting like he’s some sort of Bugenhagen type of figure lmfao 😂
He literally listens to his fans’ theories, and others, and then will come back in a new video like it’s his own thoughts.
I am now convinced the developers actively watch max’s videos. No question.
@zackkeogh3515 oh i was aware of that (the journey to ff7 remake). But i mean beyond that one video. i imagine them taking notes to max's theory crafting, which is hilarious XD
I remember when he was first streaming FF7 remake I absolutely destroyed my sleep schedule watching his streams.
+50 Bonus points for mentioning Flight of the Navigator. Man, I haven't watched that in years.
I don't get it either. Clearly we haven't changed fate if it all still leads to Advent Children.
Making this game link to Advent Children is not the move. Now all the changes mean nothing if it ends the same, now it's just shock value.
This feels like a Max victory lap and I’m here for it! Nailed it again, man! 👊
OR
the same thing but with Zach in his new timeline.
They’ve already said nothing will be cut.
The reunion is almost upon us….
Reunion....
Je..no..va...
honestly, it was easy to see the empire strikes back scenario happen, because where else in the game would you cut off before the final part of the trilogy? i think MANY people predicted that, not just max. not to take away from his videos because he does bring up things i never thought of sometimes.
Exactly, it was really obvious
I think the context Max is speaking under is from the point of view of before any of us understood whether it would be a trilogy or not. People were saying it was going to be a bunch of parts (5-7 etc) instead of a proper trilogy where the Empire Strikes Back is fitting.
@@ryanharrison3118 a lot of people including myself was expecting a trilogy. A quadrilogy or quintilogy would have been too messy trying to find start and end points while trying to make each their own standalone game. The reason why ppl thought it would be five parts is because square enix said they are making it episodic.
@@hmnanda I always thought so as well, anything more than a trilogy would have been way too much.
Holy shit, I was NOT expecting Max to namedrop Flight of the Navigator. I love that movie!!
Interesting theory!
Man… that scene towards the end is gonna have me bawling.
Advent children could also "line up" in that they demonstrate its a direct prequel and there is still an alternate timeline/ending.
Mor Dhona theme in the background made me miss FF14
Max talking makes me hyped for FF7R
I'm such a FF fanboy
I've said it before, but I'm convinced that all of the changes they're making are all aiming towards "fixing" the last third of the game (from when Meteor is summoned onwards) to make everything more coherent & relevant to the end of the game.
In the original you spend a ton of time gathering Huge Materia, that have no bearing on the end of the game, you have 3 optional Weapons to defeat (2 of which were added for the International Editions of the game) & a load of other side quests & content that doesn't tie into the endgame but maybe fills in some crucial information.
The relevant story post Meteor being summoned is -
Escaping Junon
Finding Cloud
Unlocking Cloud's memories
Working out Aeriths plan
Return to Midgar & a Weapon fight
North Crater through to last Boss (the final dungeon)
In between you have the following that doesn't really impact the end of the story (these are all a mix of story that's ultimately not relevant, story that's really good but easily missable, and activities that feel like they should have story attached & story impact but don't) -
4 Huge Materia to collect & unlock
3 other Weapons to defeat
Ultimate Weapons & Limits to find for each character
The crashed Genilka
Chocobo racing to find the Materia Caves
Finding Cloud's memories of Zack
Play games at Gold Saucer for special Items & Materia
Maybe Wutai (part of getting Limits & Ultimate Weapons but includes a good chunk of side story compared to some of the others)
I think they want to "cross the streams", so to speak & have a big chunk of this "side content" actually be relevant to defeating Sephiroth and be integrated into the game's narrative.
“How did max call it again” I am now thinking max is secretly on the dev team

Since FFVII Remake came out, it has been Max's world...
We all just live in it.

Max talks FF7? I click immediately
To those known who raised eyebrows and rolled their eyes to Max.... i am unapologetically laughing at you. call me petty but here we are.
Flight of the Navigator is one of my favorite movies from my childhood. "Compliance!"
We need "Dead Fantasy" the game with everyone.
Everyone is hyped about FF7 Remake and Rebirth, meanwhile I'm waiting for the inevitable FF7 Remake Remake
"You can learn a lot from The Empire Strikes Back."
Biggs & Wedge: You don't say?
(Yeah, I know: B&W are a FF staple. They were in FF6, too. And SW's B&W are from A New Hope. My point still stands.)
They say the game ends at The Forgotten Capital. It's possible the party gets through that and goes beyond, but a cutscene or another playable part goes back to that location at the end.
My theory was always it's a trilogy with dlc episode, which is the modern way of doing more than 3 episodes.
Saying the second installment of something will be like the second installment of every other trilogy in existence doesn’t make him a prophet lmfao
Wow, Max predicted the 3 act structure. Groundbreaking.
@@fearlesscheshirecat1411 It’s more so how he was specifically mentioning Empire Strikes back and how those story beats line up as well as how the entire trilogy layout is similar to FFVII. Narratively it’s a common story structure across story-telling but the fact that the directors and Max were on the same wavelength with what they’re saying is what’s great
This guy just referenced Flight of the Navigator, holy hell I forgot about that movie
Its going to be so fuckin whiplash inducing whenever the game shifts over to Zach's timeline and Aerith is just...there.
They basically confirmed that a certain scene that happened in the forgotten city of the OG ff7 is still happening 😥
I want to see/use Could's fenrir outfit, swords and bike from Advent Children!
They know what they're doing. I already pre-ordered the game. I mean, was there any question here? Remake was (for me personally) one of the best games i've ever played. Again, these guys know what they're doing. I have TONS of respect for the team behind this effort. And just Final Fantasy in general.
Hahaha, I got an ad, in which they said: "there are two very important words: let's go".
For the weapon fights in part 3 i wonder if they would go down the FF16 route with the massive Eikon fights.
Always happy to see a new Max FF7 video.
I'm calling this now. Playable Advent Children on the epilogue of part 3.

Probably a good time to finally sit down and finish Remake as well as Crisis Core Reunion. We will see if Dragon Quest gives me that opportunity
Would love to see how they handle the weapon fights. Would be sick to control the whole party during these fights.
I still think it might end where disc 1 ended but there will be a little bit of stuff from disc 2 thrown in.
Btw this is probably the best thumbnail I’ve seen for a Max video.
