This show always reminds me of a quote from, The Office. “I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them” Glad to see the show has resonated with you both, it is truly something special.
22:19 You're basically right. As you slowly get into this series, you'll eventually see that a lot things that Frieren does currently was influenced by Himmel. What I can guarantee is this show will definitely answer your questions about Frieren. You just have to pay attention to the story.
I definitely want to highlight your last sentence "You just have to pay attention to the story." YES! One thing I think is much more hit or miss now a days with audiences is they're fed so much through exposition and dialogue in MOST popular stuff that people are losing the ability to follow a story which does more showing than telling you things. Frieren does an amazing job at balancing those things out, lending exposition and dialogue for when it is absolutely necessary but for a lot of things, especially subtle things they rely heavily on showing over telling the viewer.
I'm not sure if anyone's already told you but the first four episodes have originally aired together and where meant to be watched in one go, so there's a reason why it feels like they now have a quest, a goal.
Fern: Right now, Frieren is still her master, so her role is to go along with whatever Frieren wants to do and only leave once she "graduated" from her "apprenticeship". The alternative is to basically run away.
Ende is only a 10 year journey because the Hero's party didn't just travel directly to the demon king's castle. I doubt it would take more than 2 years for Fern and Frieren if they could just go there directly instead of constantly stopping for side quests like the hero's party did.
You'll understand Frieren's tiredness when you've seen episode 10, i guess. There IS a reason for this. ^^ Edit: I would assume Frieren about 200-300 years old in the scene with Flamme. Just based on what she did just before they met. You'll see... Which, of course, would be very, very young for an elf. ;)
@@unknown_318 Maybe elves are different ;) Kraft does hide nothing, and Serie wouldn't even if the gods are yelling... all other mages are, well, humans. ^^ (None of the above changes the fact that Frieren is a lazy b*** ;P )
Reminiscence is a frecuent concept present in both this show and it's manga, to "live" trough the memories of others, but don't think it'll be the conclusion of her story.
I'm probably going to be roasted by your long-time subs for this comment. It's just what I'd consider constructive criticism. Y'all talk too much during the show. Why not pause and then say something if it can't wait? There's a lot of talk at the end anyways, which is good cuz that's what this series does: makes you reflect on what you just witnessed. There's a fair chunk of content you missed in the first 4 episodes, and not just the stuff that most of us took a 2nd or 3rd viewing to see. I never really watched reaction channels before watching Frieren this past spring, but the channels that really appeal to me are ones that react and then dissect afterward, without missing what's being shown. While I doubt this comment will make a difference and you're probably way ahead in the series, I will still continue to watch as you go and hope you get the opportunity to watch it again during your own time, without feeling any pressure of a camera on you.
We’ve gotten this feedback before, and I’ve actually gone back to rewatch some episodes that people have said we’re missing stuff in an episode. From what people have told us that we’ve missed so far, it was information that we later confirmed for ourselves in the ending discussion. Can you give us some examples of what we’re missing? Our edited reactions only highlight the moments where we are commenting which may be why it seems like we are just talking the entire time. If we didn’t do that, our reactions would have a lot of moments where we’re just watching the show with no commentary and personally I don’t find that appealing to watch, especially if it’s a show that I’ve already seen. We have started taking more pauses but I don’t think we’ll really be changing the way we react because this is just genuinely how we watch shows together. Appreciate the feedback, though!
@@tobototoki 13:55 to 14:08 is the first example that comes to mind in this episode. I also realize that you get a default re-watch just from editing. I'm middle-aged and grew up when you couldn't pause or rewind unless it was something on a VHS so there was a lot of "stfu" being taught then. It was also a courtesy towards others thing, so I don't expect everyone to be the same way. Again, it's not that you're both talking during a show, it's the fact that you don't pause to talk or even think about it, you just let it play and don't really pay it mind while chatting. It's not always happening and if that's the way you both watch stuff, don't let me change how you are. If I'm really into some movie or show enough, I let go and let it consume me. You may find that boring, but you may be surprised how appealing a genuine expression or exclamation that's given during a vulnerable moment can trump commentary.
That’s fair! Honestly we did know about that particular line but can’t remember if we discussed it. we’re unfortunately never going to be able to catch all the details or lines in each episode, but we’ll def try and pause more
i do agree with this comment that sometimes you guys seems to be chatting while the show still goin and miss a little bit of pieces here and there. while i also agree that if this is your style of watching/reacting don't let anybody change you. but you guys did say this show is unlike what you usually watched, its very slow paced and have a lot of subtlety in a lot of the dialog or scene that is easily missable if you don't pay attention. so because of that i would also suggest if you guys have something to say when reacting maybe pause a little bit more. other than that i enjoy your reaction, can't wait for the next episodes!
0:55 - Honestly, after watching so much action anime over the years, aside from the REALLY good ones, they all kinda blur together for me. Shows like this are far more entertaining to me than the vast majority of action anime coming out. The show needs to have more than just constant fighting to get me interested, all the hype moments they try to cram in just start being predictable and boring.
As a German speaker, I immediately assumed that Flamme was female because Flamme is such a feminine word, both grammatically as well as phonetically. (Remember, all Germanic languages have grammatical gender with the sole exception of English, which lost its grammatical gender after England was conquered by the French.)

@@projectomnia1997 Yeah It does not help that they have such long breaks between episode and forget half the facts from the begging.

RIP Flamme VA Atsuko Tanaka.
😭 had to look up the VA after this, had no idea
I'm glad you like it, BGM in frieren is so good

Hell no, there's no reason. Just look at Fern, she's not tired at all. And Flamme too. That elf is just lazy
ahhhhhh okay this makes sense to me if it's in regard to her hiding her mana strength 24/7!

The sour grapes spell in previous episode was acquired because of Eisen.
Yeah. Our elf girl is just NOT a morning person at all.
I can definitely relate 😂
0:54 "Not shonen" - you will eat your words.
Jip
The "Frieren" manga is a headline series on Weekly Shonen Sunday. It doesn't get more shonen than this.
The episodes come closer together in the future so it won't be 20+ years to get to episode 28.

Flamme means "flame" in German
