Rob is training so much he must be the main character.
He is 100% main character. That engineering skill is well in the 80s to!
he is like in The Crew game
😂😂😂
He's like the wangan midnight Akio
Boring vlogs now
I saw rally and RX-7 in the title. Rob, you need a first-gen RX-7 now. Not only did they rally in Group 3 and Group B, but a privateer built an AWD first-gen for rally back in the 1980’s. Complete the fleet, let’s see an FB! 😂
A rally fb is exactly what Rob needs 👍. They're light enough that power doesn't have to be high so he can overbuild the crap out of it and make it durable so he can beat the crap out of it.
I might be wrong but isn't the fb the 2nd gen, not first gen?
@@B0F the 1st Gen went through a refresh in 81 and became the fb, the early ones were sa apparently.
@@B0F FB is just a late-series first gen. Only in NA did we get the 'FA FB' distinction.
No, he needs a prototype RX-7S from the Group S rally division we never got to see
Robs collecting the infinity stones of motorsports training
Except he’s mid at best at everything except for being a rotard
@@briandstephmoore4910we all need to start somewhere my friend. Be supportive don’t put your fellow car guy down
@@briandstephmoore4910let me play you the world's smallest violin
@@briandstephmoore4910 who are you? ahh nobody
@@briandstephmoore4910'rotard' 😂😂😂
Turns out he's been building the 4 rotor to be a rally car the whole time
It was inspired by the way the hoonicorns suspension worked in its debut gymkhana
I mean... that's what the Hoonicorn was. A rally car disguised as a street pushie.
@@asertaThe Hoonicorn is kinda its own thing. It's really unlike a rally car with its billet double wishbone suspension. But in purpose and setup, yeah very rally.
Would be sick and break the internet but the cage work that would need to be done to make it even somewhat safe wouldn’t be worth it
i feel like its too long of a car though
I love that your sharing this journey to becoming a better driver with all of us.
I am so flippin' excited to see every bit of your journey to Pikes Peak
As someone in ICeland, I must say: Driving without 100% traction in snow or gravel teaches you what your car is capable of, and where the limits are. As well as knowing how to respond to it quicker should you lose traction.
Yes it does, first Rally training I had was in a Sim running the stages thru Sweden..... Running 100+ across snow and ice you learn really quick.... and then the gravel stages seem almost tame by comparison.
I had an AWD Eagle Talon TSi and used to make it daaaaaance in the winter. I made it dance jazz, tap, ballet… you name it. Nothing is more fun than AWD in less than perfect conditions.
Problem is sliding on ice and gravel is completely different to dry tarmac
Joel's editing on this was top notch, well done dude!
I went years ago and other than the left foot braking everything they teach is super useful in just daily driving. Also this is the first dirtfish video that mentions the school is in a gorgeous mountain vacation spot. That building above the waterfall is a hotel and the shower window faces observation deck below so anyone can see your junk if the look hard enough
Nice I got junk to
See
Rod Millen is a prime example for why you want rally skills to do Pikes Peak. Plus he used to do it in rotaries. Plus he's a Kiwi
Also seems like a chill dude, he showed up for Southern Ohio Forest Rally last year for the 50th anniversary of rally in the US
The 4Rotor as a rally car will be insane 🔥🔥
I did a rally school in Australia was so much fun, drove an STI, EVO and a HSV UTE and a full-pace run with the instructor was eye-opening
Two Utes 😂
@@ScottOrd I'm sorry. The two whaaat?
When i got my learners permit one of the first things my dad did was take me out in the snow and teach us how to drift because learning how to control a slide helps so much when you accidentally get into one. Love the content Rob and taking us through the journey. Cant wait to see pikes peak and all your other lap times improve
Two of my top 5 favourite car channels crossing over? This came as a surprise, but it's amazing
Kept leaning forward to see better out the windscreen. Can't wait to see rob at Pike's Peak!
the whole time
Rob is living in a video game. He's steady workin on that XP and leveling up. So cool to watch. Go give em hell at Pikes Peak! But keep it safe. some wise words of David freiburger, "no race is that important." Have fun, and bring her home safe and sound! Ill be cheering for ya from Louisiana!
Seeing all this training and self-improvement is amazing. Love it.
"No problem, I've got this!"
-Ken Block, while hanging out the ass of the Hoonicorn in THAT famous Climbkhana Pikes Peak scene. 😁🤟
So awesome to see! I live 30 minutes away from dirtfish and have been interested in trying them out! Glad you had a blast and learned some great knowledge for you up coming challenge!
Love seeing you improve
My dad always said a person that's very good on the Gravel road will always be good on the Tar road
"The 4 rotor was destined to be a rally car"
Rob, have I ever told you that I love you lol
I want to hear that i missed that part what minute was it 😂?
Dirtfish covering of WRC is superb. Great dudes, nice to see you teamed up with them.
I’m enjoy how Rob’s videos are turning more into episodes. The quality of the videos have gotten so much better
Really awesome to meet you after your classes at the Brewery! Dirtfish is great and I'm regularly out there taking pictures!
I really want to see an edit of all of Robs training highlights cut into a Montage 80's style with some eye of the fighter playing in the background leading up to Pikes Peak. But seriously this is great going on Robs journey into unlocking new driving skills. His skill tree is almost maxed..
When driving on gravel the most important steering system is your engine and differential! Using your engine and the fact that the differential always puts the power to the outside wheel pushes you around the corner and sometimes you have counter steer to get around the corner. So it’s important to use your gas petal when driving on gravel. Pikes peak goes ahead regardless of the weather so it is important to learn to drive in less than ideal conditions!
Nothing would make me happier than the 4 rotor becoming a rally car!
Rob has been on a drivers crash course lately, love the support getting him ready for pikes peak.
These two car control vids have shown me just how willing you are to learn. Good job, Rob!
If everyone worked as hard as Rob does the world would be a much better place
love that they use an 86 to train rally
I grew up driving on all gravel or just dirt roads. You learn how to feel the car so much better than asphalt. Great job!
Awesome content! It just keeps getting better! The future is bright! I would say you are ready for pikes peak!
Killing it rob
Can’t wait to see an update on the car now
Bo and Luke conquer the Pacific Northwest! Roscoe on your tail would get those lap times down. Where's Daisy?
All in fun - you're awesome Rob, keep up the great videos!
Awesome dude! Covering all your bases! I'm glad the instructor pointed that about both your hands being on the steering wheel unless you're ready to shift because on so many of your track days videos I was like WTH is he doing with his hands?!? Anyways, great to see your driving skills improve!
I saw that waterfall for like half a second and immediately recognized Snoqualmie Falls. Beautiful area, and fun video!
What Rob need, is a Trophy Truck, and then swap in 4-rotor. 😂
I live in Snoqualmie, thanks for visiting our town, hope you enjoyed it!
rob be like: "hands on the wheel, uhh, fuck that"
Lovin this journey to Pikes Peak! Never thought I'd see Rob rally, this is great.
Watching you and this channel grow. Had been amazing.
That BRZ looks epic
Thank you Rob, this is the type of content i've been hoping to see on the channel for years
You know rob's getting confident when he takes his hand off the wheel to explain something lol
There reason Carlos' Dady' Sainz, Sebastian Loeb are still battling out at 62 and 50 they are still some of the worlds fast drivers !
After the dust settles on your peak run (mega respect for your effort) , Pop to saudi arabia in Jan to see the Dakar and the big boys !!!!
Great driving Rob, you were having a blast🎉🎉🎉
time stamp 24 mins, that was it he nailed it yes yes yes. great work rob, looking great my dude, keep up the great work
A rotary swapped Subaru would be a damn good rally car I think. Two rotor should fit well. 1st gen Imprezas are well proven and pretty cheap. I personally race a GL Hatch and it's incredibly light, an NA rotary could make one quick, a turbo rotary would be insane. But the AWD trans doesn't fit nicely in those. The 3rd gen L series like the Loyale, XT, and RX are also reasonably light and will fit a 5 or 6 speed AWD trans bolt-in.
I really want to go there this winter
I was at Pikes Peak Hill Climb the last year they allowed spectators on the sides of the course. Damn insurance now forces everyone in designated spectator spots. Good luck Rob!
Dahm, what a cocktail of driving lessons recently - noice!
I think your engineering passions would really shine in rally....so much more than just making power.
Thats some dahm good driving! Lol cant wait to see you do this in the 4 rotor! Are we getting more videos on the build of that for pikes peak soon? Got that sneak peak on hertz channel and I’ve been itching to see what else you’ve done to it!
U need patreon to see the build videos :/
Tried this years ago. It is super hard. You did a great job.
Nate is the best. Everyone should see his old videos in his Volvo
Oh man, if you loved that, wait till you run a rally. The challenge, the comradory, doing any crazy fix to finish. It's a blast.
That view at Snoqualmie is epic…I go there a few times per year. Amazing!
Up here in the PNW we have a Hill Climb series also! It's not as big as the rally scene but still very fun.
That end, smart ass teaser. 🤣
Well done mate, I definitely need to give this a go!
thats how F1 drove through the turns in 60ies before downforce, with perfect 4wheel slide on exit. And no opposite steering.
When you used to do track days on a bike and you find yourself leaning into the curves while watching this and trying to look through the turns. Lmao!!!!😂😂❤❤ Great job learning to try to control out of control and make time!!
Rally probably covers most of the basics, but you should go to Englishtown and do Chris Naps east coast drift school. Even if it’s not so much for training, I think everyone would enjoy seeing you continue going to Motorsport training schools
Awesome work as usual, sir!
Milwaukee region rally cross starts up in less than 2 weeks here, I can't wait to get back on the dirt.
Asian guy from Carl’s Jr you know what store. You’ve got a really nice car.. engine sounded very badass. Good luck to you see you next time with different cars..
I think that 13B AWD rally car would be awesome
dude is out here doing everything ive ever wanted bruh
Holy Shit! I saw that waterfall and hotel and I KNEW I knew it 😀
I jumped on the Rally bandwagon too and am completely hooked....that shit is F U N
3 rotor subaru?
I wish I could someday take some courses at Dirtfish, or even possibly work there.
Really happy to see more women in motorsports
I'd love to see someone like you do a rally car build
Awesome to see you at Dirtfish! I was there last year and it was an absolute blast! I own a regular, street 86, so getting to blast around a rally course with one on proper tires and Reiger suspension was a dream come true. Cannot say enough positive about the crew that runs the place either. Learned a ton even in a one day course
Great video, thanks for sharing it!
Ken Block was artist first, technician second. I do not believe that we can learn that combination. Half of it is natural talent and improvisation.
The 4wd 4 rotor rally group b inspired car would be badass.
Still waiting for the 12 rotor video
Thank you for the rally lesson, Buff Matt Damon.
Dirt fish. What an awesome bisnuess name for rally training 😁
Rob makes motorsports so fun, damit i need a rally car now
That was a nice j-turn.
cant wait to see ya on pikes man, hopefully all this experience is working out well
PIKES PEAK training arc, baby!
Cone killer 😜
nice school. Worth visiting for the 1984 R5 Turbo2 alone ( 1:35 ). A dream car but the value is six-figures.
It's a shame Pikes Peak is all paved now. Watching different drivers dominate different sections was what got me hooked.
Went from a BMW with 150hp that I would kick and flick to even try and go sideways to a 1ton civic on 165 tires. You learn a lot about easing onto brakes around corners and digging into the brakes will induce oversteer like your James dean
12:22 Na-NANI?! KANSEI DORIFTO?!
Just the other day I was thinking about rally and the suspension travel on the 3 and 4 rotors. Then thought to myself maybe he should try out some rally stuff. And what happens then? :D This video pops out.
Mom, grab the popcorn. Rob's going through more character development!
God damn I miss my 86 GTS :( ZN6 is such a great platform.
Never expected you at DirtFish! Love it.
🎶🎶 ...even Rocky had a montage... 🎶🎶
How cool is it to see Snoqualmie Falls behind the rotary legend Rob Dahm! You were only 30 minutes from my house! I have video of the falls at full tilt on my UA-cam if your interested.
I dig this. I need to sign up for thie
The top of pikes park was not paved until 2011. They raced to the top on gravel Real Man Racing
Drifting next rob
Time for drifting baby 😁
