(Links in the description box) Question: What do you think of Stoop Kid? Why do you think Stoop Kid was afraid to leave his stoop?
I personally think that the stoop of the abandoned house he is afraid to leave was once where he used to live with family, but his family may have passed away and he cannot bare to leave cause it's the only place he ever known as home, and he feels leaving the stoop means leaving the only place he called home. All the stuff he has is from people who pass by him. I think he has a lot of good memories in that house and now that it's locked up and abandoned, he can't get in he stays on the stoop. In his mind the stoop is all that's left of his family home, and he feels safe there. Thats my theory.
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 Wow, great theory Billy! I never thought of that. Maybe Stoop Kid grew up there with his family and now that they are all gone he doesn't want to leave. That makes sense - maybe he wasn't afraid of going outside, but afraid of being away from what he has left of his beloved family.
Growing up in New York I could totally relate to this show. Also there was always a kid on the block who couldn’t leave his stoop but it was usually bc his mom told to stay close haha
That's so cool! I've never been to New York, so as a kid Hey Arnold was one of earliest memories of seeing a representation of it. LOL, they sound like a real life stoop kid 😅
The fact they really made a Urban Legend out of Stoop Kid when he just stay at his stoop and never leave it and the fact Stoop Kid not leaving his stoop made headlines.
lol, any lifestyle that was different from how most people lived was made into an Urban Legend - monkeyman, pigeon man... I guess the city didn't have much else going on, lol
I have severe social anxiety and I kinda relate to this episode. I feel terrible to talk to anybody and kinda have poor social skills and everyone makes fun of me for it. I'm alone most of the time and I don't think it's normal how my heart literally drop whenever I talk to people even my own family

AGAIN!!! I know it's a cartoon but hey Arnold totally taught me how to be me how to treat others and how to have heart. I damn near literally modeled Arnold's philosophy and overall personality . Never lead me wrong growing up
When it comes to stoop kid I try not to think a lot about where he came from and his tragic backstory is gotta be a lot more darker than ever. Also him being left on his own as a baby. I don’t think a baby could raise him or herself on its own unless there’s help from a guardian let alone if someone did find a baby on a Porch of an abandoned building I don’t think they would let the baby stay there but then again the city is full of bystanders some that won’t even save someone in a situation.
I didn’t like this episode as a kid but Harvey the mailman gave the loudest reaction when SK finally left his stoop. Lol “what?!!! Yaaaay, he did it!” That and SK’s Come’re Fat Boy along with Harold’s face. Always had me dying 😂😂😂😂
It's pretty obvious, he is a homeless kid, turned into a homeless youth/young adult. By this point he is beyond society's concern. WHat's interesting about homelessness is the homeless will develop haunts. A go to area they know, that they feel safe at. May be a local supermarket they hang out in front of all day. May be a train station. May be a library or a park, or even the beach. SOmething else becomes their home. They also become territorial over it. Imagine if stoop kid lost his stop. His home. He feels safe there. Leaving his stoop risks his territory. On top of this, the homeless tend to face discrimination, hostility and more in general public. They get treated worse, looked down on, etc etc. Their haunt is usually a place where this doesn't happen. Where they can feel human. Stoop kid was the king of his stoop. His harassment of others was him demanding their respect through fear. We also see the insecurity that comes with homelessness. For stoop kid it is ridicule. He's uneducated, kind of ugly. For the homeless they sadly start to internalise the discrimination and maltreatment, and feel insecure and low self worth (If they didn't already feel that before beng homeless). He's actually a great summing up of the issue of urban homelessness. His age is another indicator. Many homeless were homeless as young people too. hey'll talk about ending back up on the streets multiple times. Even old homeless people. His stoop represnts a niche of society they can carve out for themselves.
When I was little I remember there was a homeless old lady that spent all day in front of a McDonald's in NYC, she would open the door for everyone and people would buy her food. The workers never tried to chase her off and everyone was just used to her being there and buying her stuff. I was confused by it as a kid, she seemed nice, I didn't understand why she was out there or why she refused to take money.
@@Casca52 its "her spot" Reality is most homeless will talk about being homeless all their life. This may be literal homelessness on the streets or figurative no safe home/place to bed down. It internalises survival mindset, and some low self worth. She carved out a place near the McDonald's. She knew it. She could control it. As it was low value, no one was going to fight her for it. Just as we build homes, the homeless do too. Its as traumatising for them when we sneer down on them and force them away, as if someone kicked us abruptly out of our homes one day.
I think it was a clever subtle commentary on people who are scared of the world outside their own doorstep, in his case literally, lol although I’d have never got that as a kid
Great point Adam! I never thought of that, but maybe Stoop Kid was meant to metaphorically, (not literally) represent the fear some have of the unknown world. And how you can overcome that fear only by going out in the world and experiencing it yourself.

I personally think he murdered the people inside the home and the stench became too strong for him to live inside anymore. So to barricade the door, he sat outside of it and was afraid to leave bc he didn’t want anyone to go in while he was gone. When he finally left, the house was condemned and gutted but not before they found HIS family rotting to skeletons in different rooms throughout the house. Stoop Kid went on the run and was never seen again. He’s rumored to have been seen working in a cabana on the coast of Mexico serving fresh coconuts to tourists and goes by Dik Poots…
Pigeon Man is Stoop Kid's father lol. Stoop Kid's mom couldn't stand that his father was more interested in the pigeons then thier son so she left him on the stoop so he'd be spared from being the son of a urban legend but ended up becoming one himself. Dumb but funny theory.
❗❗❗❗❗ That makes sense! Maybe Pigeon Man is Stoop Kid's father and he stays away from the people in the city to avoid his son he never raised. Maybe he regrets abandoning Stoop Kid so his hobby of spending time with pigeons became an obsession over the years to distance himself from his past. That would also explain why Stoop Kid doesn't have a name...his parents never bothered to give him one. I wonder who the mother is though. I tried to figure it out and if you pause on the scene where they show his mother, she looks a little like Miss Slovak 😮
@@DialUpDigest Mrs Slovak being the Stoop Kid's mom and Pigeon Man being his father is a little creepy to think about considering she was Pigeon Man's teacher at one point
Reasons why Stoop Kid was afraid to leave his stoop 1. Stoop kid was most likely harassed by someone as a kid and he had to survive on his own and the only he thought of defending himself was to harass others, which would explain why he easily harasses others. In addition, being harassed would lead to his lack of trust and being able to socialize with others. 2. This is the most obvious but if he left his stoop, somebody would most likely steal his items. He has no place to secure his items and if someone who dislike him or was just a thief wanted to take his items, they probably would. 3. I think the main reason is he experienced or witness something while on his stoop that was tragic, a car accident or someone getting bullied and he was unable to do anything about the situation. I do wonder when he was orphaned because it can't be when he was a baby or toddler or someone would've taken care of him so why else would another abandoned him? If he was left on a stoop, that had to have happened the ages between 8 to 10
Great list! 👍That's a good point, maybe Stoop Kid was trying to protect his belongings. Maybe he didn't have the key to the house? He was just abandoned there and the door was unlocked. That's another good point, he must have been older or else how could he survive as a baby.
This was excellent. I can definitely relate in some ways. There are things I wish I could do that I'm afraid to fail at and the hesitation to even try is extreme. I think we can all learn from Stoop Kid's perseverance!!
I came across his music video recently; it's the greatest song of all time. I think the stoop is a metaphor; maybe everyone has a "stoop" of their own I learned about agoraphobia on Martial Law, my favorite childhood show
Yo.i see you out here producing very high tier content without that many following, and I just wanna say I see and appreciate what you're doing. Thank you. I hope your channel gets big soon. It deserves to be
Interesting theory. I'm sure there were other people in the neighborhood who had agoraphobia as well and they would have recognized Stoop Kid as having it too. Or maybe that man worked in mental health and knew how difficult it was to leave the stoop.
It's certainly clear Stoop Kid's lived a very challenging life, and it's given him anxiety of stepping (heh) outside his comfort zone. He also strikes me as a "city kid" that copes with his struggles by acting tough in order to survive. Seeing how he reacted to everyone making fun of him for not leaving his stoop, I feel he might have been picked on in the past, and that contributes to his taking his aggression out on everyone that comes by his stoop. Maybe it's a way for him to avoid getting hurt by people by telling them to not even so much as look at the stoop. A fun fact about his voice actor, Danny Cooksey: I'm a metal fan, and there's an obscure band from the early 90's called Bad 4 Good that was basically a "boy band" with how they were put together, and Cooksey was the vocalist. I think he was 16 when he sang on their one record and you wouldn't be able to tell. When I found out he also did the voice for Stoop Kid, I got really excited. I also got recommended a funk band called the Stoop Kids just for the name. And one of my punk friend's previous bands had their first single called "Afraid to Leave the Stoop" and the cover art featured Hey Arnold characters dressed like hardcore kids. Really goes to show how prominent of an episode this was.
lol, "stepping outside his comfort zone", I can't believe I didn't think of that 😆. Good point, he was very defensive. Maybe people picked on him before while he was growing up. He would have been stared at a lot if he was always sitting on the stoop as a kid and learned to be on high alert of people passing by. That sounds cool! I love learning about what the voice actors from this show did outside of Hey Arnold. Interesting, I wonder how that song compares to the song produced by Nickelodeon. That's so creative, Arnold and his friends should have started a band themselves. Stoop Kid was a great episode. The story was memorable, even after all these years.
Do a video about Rex Smyth Higgins III. The snobby British kid, who actually had a sense of morality. As he helped Arnold save Abner after finding out he was Arnold's pet
Great vid as always madam.. Maybe he ran away after witnessing the murder of his parents. It was a dark stormy night. He knocked on doors, trying to find shelter and was told to go away. Crying, all alone, and about to give up hope, he finds one abandoned home. The stoop. He runs uo the stares just before lightning strikes where he was standing just seconds ago. He feels like he was saved by the stoop. Protected from everything. His closest living relative tries to get him to leave, but he refuses. So they let the kid stay there, but they do frequently check on him. Pay for water, electric, groceries, bring him stuff to help him learn. Due to seeing his parents murdered, he has a strong dislike of people. Arnold, like in other episodes, shows Stoop Kid that not all people are bad. He learns to trust Arnold. When he sees people cheering him on, his attitude towards people changes. Those people putting their hands on his shoulders are his relatives saying "great kid, now you can get a job and start paying your own bills right? Right? Answer me!".
Thank you Larry! 😊 Interesting theory! Maybe he did witness a tragic event to his parents and then felt saved by the stoop 😢. It would make sense that his relatives would want to help him out anyway they could. Good point, that scene when Stoop Kid finally left the stoop had his whole neighborhood cheering him on probably for the first time in life. lol, Stoop Kid was on his own now 😂
According to @SpiritYT The Stoop kid once suffered from Agoraphobia which was really sad because it can happen to anyone. Fun Fact: The Stoop kid is voiced by Danny Cooksey who played as Tim Cookey in Terminator 2: Judgement Day and also voiced as Urchin in The Little Mermaid TV Series.
Omg the background music halfway through is the same background music for a 4 part darlie routier video i watched and the second it came on i was like wait i thought i was watching hey arnold hahahahahaha
I think he was afraid to leave because he didn't want to miss his parents return. I think his parents died and he's still waiting for them to come home. He must have been left their house but didn't understand. Maybe he left once and someone entered the house and left before he returned and he assumed it was them.
Looking back I feel bad for SK. In real life if he bad mouthed someone coming near his stoop he would end up getting his ass kicked. Plus he could end up being mistaken for a homeless kid since he takes hose baths and eats outside.
why is it whenever i click on a recommended funny short clip character from Hey Arnold like 3 or 4 days later i get a analysis or fan theory video recommend? 1st i was clicked the chocolate boy reading a whole book for oscar then recommended clip of a girl reviewing his trauma then the that clip of Lila having trash dumped on her by Helga's crew then later was a video saying Lila's dark secret or something then a few days ago i watched that stoop kid clip saying (come here fat boy I'm gonna roll you downtown) now this popped up what the hell YT? 😑
Hey i have a video idea for you,idk if it will be copyright but maybe you could do a analysis on each episode and the neighborhood and who are neighbors to each other and also in some episodes certain characters are statues sitting next to characters who really don’t like each other i find it interesting especially like I believe harold is armolds neighbor,or like rhonda sitting next to curly in certain episodes or the disappearance of torvald, god i have so many theories and video idea i hope you see this
Great ideas! 😀 I find that interesting too, the neighbors and how they relate to each other. I've wondered where they all live in relation to each other too. That would be a fun video, thank you! 👍
Perhaps he was afraid of abandonment. But I think Arnold gave Stoop Kid the confidence later on. Also, I think another character DUD should look at is Tish, while not much was shown about her, I think she's a competitor like Jack Wittenberg.
That makes sense. Stoop Kid was abandoned and likely didn't want to experience that same pain again from someone else so he stayed away from people. Great suggestion! I'll put Tish on my list of future video ideas! 👍
Stoop kid is just an idea of kids in NY not being able to leave their house because of their parents but still wanted to have a glimpse of what’s happening outside.

Great idea Tony! Sure, I'll make a video about Rex, stay tuned! 👍
2:55 Craig Bartlett said the unibrows give the characters a perpetually angry look, so for those characters (except one), it makes sense.
When cartoons where dope and had continuation that was thought through in plot n episodes. Occasionally a good one pops up but that was a era.
Good point, that scene when Stoop Kid finally left the stoop had his whole neighborhood cheering him on probably for the first time in life.
lol, Stoop Kid was on his own now 😂
@@DialUpDigest His relative...well Greg. Looks like you can go get a job and support yourself now.
Let's not forget there's also a theory that he's a look out boy for a gang of drug dealers.
😮 That makes sense. We never found out what was in that basket 🕵
@@DialUpDigest im telling you i didn't come up with that i saw another video on it.
@@Super_Boyo Ok
I think he was the lookout for a drug operation.
Normally i don't like cartoon analysis stuff most people over it in my opinion with the theories but your channel is really fun
Omg the background music halfway through is the same background music for a 4 part darlie routier video i watched and the second it came on i was like wait i thought i was watching hey arnold hahahahahaha
LOL
Legends tell: Stoop Kid went to store across the street, Bought a smart phone & discovered UA-cam. And he’s still on his stoop to this day…..
7:34 It’s odd that Harold didn’t hear about Stoop Kid leaving his stoop even though apparently everyone else in the city was there lol
I never knew what a stoop was until this episode
I think he was afraid to leave because he didn't want to miss his parents return. I think his parents died and he's still waiting for them to come home. He must have been left their house but didn't understand. Maybe he left once and someone entered the house and left before he returned and he assumed it was them.
Stoop Kid was pretty alright. He's just strict when anyone messes with his stoop. Thanks to Arnold he can kick somebody's butt off the stoop.
Looking back I feel bad for SK. In real life if he bad mouthed someone coming near his stoop he would end up getting his ass kicked. Plus he could end up being mistaken for a homeless kid since he takes hose baths and eats outside.
He lived an unusual life. That made him a target for sure.
@@DialUpDigest that's true. Makes you wonder about what happened to his parents
I know I'm a year late but big up Stoop Kid! 🔥
Did you really have to mention "Arnold Betrays Iggy"? 😭🤬
I was surprised to see Stoop Kid in the audience 😮
Just got a whole flood of back in the day
Don't forget to ask how his TV was powered
why is it whenever i click on a recommended funny short clip character from Hey Arnold like 3 or 4 days later i get a analysis or fan theory video recommend? 1st i was clicked the chocolate boy reading a whole book for oscar then recommended clip of a girl reviewing his trauma then the that clip of Lila having trash dumped on her by Helga's crew then later was a video saying Lila's dark secret or something then a few days ago i watched that stoop kid clip saying (come here fat boy I'm gonna roll you downtown) now this popped up what the hell YT? 😑
I always wanted to know about his family life.
I was legit Helga growing up attitude wise.
Another good video.
Thank you Christopher! 😊
@@DialUpDigest You're welcome!
Stoop Kid was a interesting character, why was he afraid to leave the stoop? anxiety possibly
I agree, anxiety was at least a part of it.
the fact they didnt get danny cooksey to do the video was a TOTAL missed opportunity.... i mean, he HAS a fugging band... wtf... lol
I believe Stoop Kid was afraid because the stoop is his only sence of security.
Stoop kid is afraid to leave the stoop !!!!
He’s just “In-STOOP-tutionalized”, is all…😉 **rimshot** 🥁
loll
Where do you find the clips for this video?
I have Agoraphobia and always watch this episode
Agoraphobia is wild
Something may have happened to his family during an outing he declined to go on. Thus resulting in his fear 🤔💭
I was getting a he could bud waiting for his parents to get him or someone to get him
Interesting
I really only want to know how he got there and how he lived while he was there?
For my own opinion, I always thought stoop kid was just holding down the place because For his own personal reasons or he was low-key drug dealer…!
But how come Helga never appeared on the "Stoop Kid" episode?
I think he was a banded by his parents
Pause. What. Did. I. Just. See?
I think Stoop Kid was hoarder and was afraid of people stealing his stuff
😮 Maybe!
Another freakin' unibrow
lol, what's up with this show and unibrows 😂
Easier to draw for the animators, I guess. 🤣
No love
7:39 😂😂😂😂😂😂
So he didnt have to leave to go eat or anything? Like who took care of this kid ion get it.
So nobody else lives in his building ?
Stoop kid as opposed to corner kids
STOOP KIDS AFRAID TO LEAVE THE STOOP!
Stoop kid is just an idea of kids in NY not being able to leave their house because of their parents but still wanted to have a glimpse of what’s happening outside.
Did stoop kid go inside the building
Honestly everything about stoop kid makes no sense. So 🤷♂️
@@dailydoseofsunshine2319 yeah not at all, it's just a story for the sake of discussing people with social disorders...plot holes be damned
Shirt scene
It not that serious🤔
